Very quaint and chill little theater. Not a bad seat in the house. This place is set up super cool with its rounded style seating. Prices for the show that we saw were very reasonable at $28 a seat for second row. There's a full bar in the lobby to handle all your beverage needs. They even sell snacks, including popcorn. The show was put in by playmakers of Baton Rouge( A Christmas Carol) they did a marvelous job. The gentleman who played Ebenezer Scrooge did an incredible job. It was entertaining from start to finish. I definitely look forward to coming back and seeing different productions. I'm

Went to a 100 Monkeys show here on December 3rd and this is a GREAT venue for live music! Although it's better suited for say an orchestra performance rather than a rock-n-roll show because of the seats I would not hesitate to go again! It's located inside the Shaw Center for the Performing Arts and since we're not from Baton Rouge we had a little time finding it. Part of that was from the streets being closed for a tree-lighting ceremony so without that it might be easier to find and get to. There was ample, cheap parking; we paid $5 and parked two blocks away...not bad at all!! It's nice that the theater is inside as you are out of the elements, and have easy access to bathroom and food! That is a huge plus when you're a crazy rabid fan that gets to a show four hours early!! ;-) The people are very friendly and kind and the place is very nice; I didn't see much of the rest of the Shaw Center but what I did see was impressive! The sound and lighting is AMAZING!! I've only ever seen 100 Monkeys in clubs and sometimes these are hit or miss. Like I said though, it's all seats which isn't the greatest when you want to get up and dance your booty off but since I was first row I had a few feet between my seat and the stage to do that. The stage is about four feet tall or so.....tall enough so you can see them from the back but short enough so that if you're in the front you feel like you're up close and personal. So if you get a chance, check this place out! It is definitely worth it!

We saw The Family Dinner spoof on Edward Scissorhands. This is hands down my favorite venue in all of Baton Rouge. From movies to open mic nights to kids shows- it is spectacular. There isn't a bad seat in the house! The bar is well stocked and well priced and the ladies room is super clean! I can't wait to go back!

    Great bike parking!

If you you haven't gone to a movie at the Manship, then you're really missing out. I'm not a fan of movie theaters, but I love this place. The only negative I have is that it's always a little cold, so bring something warm to wear. Other than that, it's well worth your time. Great films, comfortable seating and a reasonably priced bar (with booze)!

My wife and I attended my daughter's dance recital, Kick It Out presented by Moving Colors Production, last weekend. We had center front row seats for $15 per person. The seats are comfortable and you are aloud to bring food and alcoholic drinks inside the theater with you. This was my first time at a dance recital and I was rather impressed with the professional dancers as well as the student dancers.

The production standards are quite high for a place that relies on volunteers for their pool of talent. They put on over 10 shows a season, including musicals and plays that were on Broadway just a few years prior. The theater itself holds less than 300 patrons, so there's not really a bad seat in the house. They also have a smaller space next door where they put on more avant-garde pieces, which seats around 100. The ticket prices are in line with expectations and a fraction of what you'd pay for the same show in NY.

They do a variety of plays from dramas, comedy's, musicals and suspense. The theater does have a bar, so before the show and at intermission you can grab a drink. I enjoy my nights at the theater and will continue to be a member for a long time.

For this visit, that would be attending a performance of the Baton Rouge Symphony and admiring the Old Capital complex as I walked there and back again. The evening's performance included: - Handel: Zakok the Priest (Coronation Anthem #1) - Bottesini: Concerto, Double Bass, No. 2, B Minor - Brahms: Symphony No. 2. op. 73, D Major. Here were my thoughts (in no particular order) during the concert: 1. The old Charley Tuna Sunkist commercial - Having good taste for being here? 2. Hall is a little over half full and a lot of these folks are older than me! 3. Loved the Handel Chorus. Time to pull out the Messiah CD for the Holidays! 4, John Madere was "The Bomb" on the Contrabass during the Battesini piece. 5. Only got a little sleepy during Brahms. 6. You know, this is a really nice performance space! 7. Best seats are lower level - middle rows. 8. Conductor sure has some energetic gestures! 9. Entire concert (including intermission) lasted only 90 minutes or so. 10. A community treasure. I look forward to being in town sometime in the future for another BRSO performance.

The master series showcases some pretty talented guest musicians. One i loved was Wicked Divas. Two women from broadway came and sang with the orchestra. They were amazing! Even Kristen Chenowith has sang with them. I got to see a very talented violinist come play with the orchestra and an amazing piano player. Christmas time has a lot to offer as well. Home for the Holidays is a great Christmas performance for the whole family. It features a selection of new and old Christmas songs. They also have the sleigh ride selfie. When they play sleigh ride, you take a selfie with the orchestra and sleigh in the background and post it to the BRSO page. My favorite Christmas performance is the brass playing at St. Joseph's Cathedral downtown. It's a beautiful church and the music is so pretty. At the end, the orchestra goes up by the majestic organ in the balcony and plays Hallelujah. It gives me chills every time. The orchestra also has a Christmas performance at Houmas House every year. Then how can you miss the Nutcracker, a Tale from the Bayou. It's a must see for me every year. Beautiful dancing and music! Then in the spring, the orchestra does symphony pops. I went to the one at Rural life museum and they played music from the movies. We sat under the stars and listened. The symphony is a great place to go!

It seemed to be more entertaining for older kids, but the amount of action versus downtime was very lopsided. The trucks would only be in action for seconds between lots of filler of talking and loud music. The noise was okay because we remembered to bring ear plugs, but the smell of the exhaust fumes in an enclosed arena was a major turnoff. For $25 for good seats I guess it was a good deal if your kids were into it, but mine and my friends child both wanted leave before it was over.

You are parking at your own risk, so don't leave valuables out. Staff is always there to greet you with a smile. I've never encountered any employee there who didn't seem to be in a pretty good mood. The floor space is large with lots of standing room. Depending on the event, they'll throw some high top tables around.
