I never been to the Manship, but Asleep At The Wheel was playing there, and I really wanted to see them again. I knew that the band leader Ray Benson had been really sick during the pandemic, so I was glad to see him playing and singing quite well. The Manship was a very well-maintained facility, and everything was spotlessly clean. The seats were a little narrow, but comfortable. I will certainly plan to go back to other shows there again. read more

Place held Theo Avon comedy show. I like the layout until people have to go to bar/ restrooms snacks. The entire row has to stand to let people in and out. Then upon end of show, upon walking out they don't direct to you to ONE exit and roped off all other exits the entire hall was congested beyond Fire code. Horribly ran show -not for Theo , the staff of Manship- I won't ever attend anything done here again. Horrible layout for anything seats to right to row and no management of structure on exit read more

Great little local theater offering showings for all ages. Excellent place to spend the day with family or go on a date. The theater is three level and kinda small but very intimate allowing you to get a close view of what you're watching. Get to your place early if it's general seating. We saw the dark circus here and it was great for kids. A little amateur than what we were expecting but still a good show. read more

Very quaint and chill little theater. Not a bad seat in the house. This place is set up super cool with its rounded style seating. Prices for the show that we saw were very reasonable at $28 a seat for second row. There's a full bar in the lobby to handle all your beverage needs. They even sell snacks, including popcorn. The show was put in by playmakers of Baton Rouge( A Christmas Carol) they did a marvelous job. The gentleman who played Ebenezer Scrooge did an incredible job. It was entertaining from start to finish. I definitely look forward to coming back and seeing different productions. I'm read more

Went to a 100 Monkeys show here on December 3rd and this is a GREAT venue for live music! Although it's better suited for say an orchestra performance rather than a rock-n-roll show because of the seats I would not hesitate to go again! It's located inside the Shaw Center for the Performing Arts and since we're not from Baton Rouge we had a little time finding it. Part of that was from the streets being closed for a tree-lighting ceremony so without that it might be easier to find and get to. There was ample, cheap parking; we paid $5 and parked two blocks away...not bad at all!! It's nice that the theater is inside as you are out of the elements, and have easy access to bathroom and food! That is a huge plus when you're a crazy rabid fan that gets to a show four hours early!! ;-) The people are very friendly and kind and the place is very nice; I didn't see much of the rest of the Shaw Center but what I did see was impressive! The sound and lighting is AMAZING!! I've only ever seen 100 Monkeys in clubs and sometimes these are hit or miss. Like I said though, it's all seats which isn't the greatest when you want to get up and dance your booty off but since I was first row I had a few feet between my seat and the stage to do that. The stage is about four feet tall or so.....tall enough so you can see them from the back but short enough so that if you're in the front you feel like you're up close and personal. So if you get a chance, check this place out! It is definitely worth it! read more

Manship Theater - From their website - Performing Arts Near Me - Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Located in the middle of downtown. No garage parking so you must find street parking which can be hard to find, especially on the weekends so I suggest getting there early. Attended a live action Rocky Horror Picture Show production for my birthday and had lots of fun. Didn't get to explore much of the area other than the theater itself since we got there right as the show was starting. There was a snack bar to the right of the entrance of the theater that served mixed drinks that could be taken in. The seating inside was less than you would typically find in a theater but I feel like it just means you get closer to all the action on stage. There was raised floor seating and then 2 or 3 balcony seating areas above. This was my husbands first time coming and my second to a RHPS and it was good, but some of the actors seemed kind of inexperienced. Would come see another play here though. read more

We saw The Family Dinner spoof on Edward Scissorhands. This is hands down my favorite venue in all of Baton Rouge. From movies to open mic nights to kids shows- it is spectacular. There isn't a bad seat in the house! The bar is well stocked and well priced and the ladies room is super clean! I can't wait to go back! read more

If you you haven't gone to a movie at the Manship, then you're really missing out. I'm not a fan of movie theaters, but I love this place. The only negative I have is that it's always a little cold, so bring something warm to wear. Other than that, it's well worth your time. Great films, comfortable seating and a reasonably priced bar (with booze)! read more

My wife and I attended my daughter's dance recital, Kick It Out presented by Moving Colors Production, last weekend. We had center front row seats for $15 per person. The seats are comfortable and you are aloud to bring food and alcoholic drinks inside the theater with you. This was my first time at a dance recital and I was rather impressed with the professional dancers as well as the student dancers. read more

Came here for the Psychedelic Furs. The Furs ROCK! We had to move seats 3 times because the tickets were so confusing though. The tickets said 2nd. The place has 3 seating areas. So why were we on the top section???? Anyway, the ushers weren't as helpful as I hoped they would be in this venue. Drinks were cheaper than I thought they would be. read more

Its production of The Great American Songbook is a great idea and featured 17 different singers and an excellent three piece band But the song selection was poor. Many of the songs would not be considered great American songs and a few were Louisiana songs but even them I had never heard of. some singers were much better than others and some should not even have been featured But go see it because it's a great idea and about half the songs would be considered American standards by most everyone. read more

In all the almost 8 years I have lived in Baton Rouge, it's hard to believe that I had not been into main theatre of the Manship. My daughter had a weekend-long dance performance there in January and spent about 4 of 7 days there with rehearsals and performances. It's a beautiful theatre with three levels of seating, all of which still provides ample views of the stage. If you need a cocktail or a refreshing non-alcoholic beverage, there is a bar in the lobby area of the 1st floor. The seating is fairly comfortable and the areas were clean. I even got to take a peek at the Hartley Vey Theatre next door and that seemed pretty cool for smaller shows. I am hoping to get to see more shows, productions and live entertainment here in the near future. If you live in Baton Rouge and haven't been here yet, I suggest looking at their schedule to see if something sparks your interest and check it out! read more

Beautiful inside and out! I was googling, about a month ago, "The Tale of Princess Kaguya", and out of no where a showing appears in Baton Rouge. I mean, this is a once in a lifetime to see a little known film in the Deep South. I had to get on it. I have never heard of the Manship Theater, but I imagined it as like a little community theater. I was sort of right. When i first arrived, I was a bit confused on where to go. I mean this was my first time in downtown Baton Rouge by myself, so I can give myself one excuse. I bought the super cheap ticket for the movie, and went inside the theater. It was stunningly beautiful for a small community theater. And as I mentioned before, it is quite small. If I remember correctly, it was three floors. Of course, me being me, I go to the third floor. The seating arrangement in the theater is strange how it is made up. It would be perfect for a play or something of the sort, not really a movie showing. The movie was beautiful, as are all Studio Ghibili movies. I would come again, probably to see a play, not a movie however. read more

Manship Theater is a beautiful place. Right up the stairs you can view beaitiful pieces of art. The theatre itself is beautiful. The curved room allows a great view for everyone who sits in it. If you have not seen an event here , do yourself a favor and go to at least one. You will not regret the experience. read more

This is just about my favorite Baton Rouge venue. I have seen shows here from John Ritter to John Waters to film festivals. I have sat in every section and there is seriously no bad seat in the house. The sound is good and the seats are comfortable, which is important to me since I have back problems. If you want to stand up/crowd surf at a show, this might be a little tame for you, but if you're a little older you will appreciate it. read more

Saw a movie in the theater there last weekend. The sound wasn't very good. The popcorn was disgusting and $2.00 for a plastic cocktail glass of soda. Definitely not impressive. read more

I've only been once so far. They show all kinds of older movies. We went for a Christmas special showing of Polar Express. I unfortunately missed the Monty Python double feature a few weeks prior. I heard they also do Dinner & Movie deals as well. Perfect for a date night. The interior of the theater is gorgeous! read more

Manship Theatre is a beautiful, fun, and unique venue in Baton Rouge! Unlike anything else the town has to offer, you'll always find something interesting and cutting edge featured here. Baton Rouge has been spoiling for this type of outlet. So happy that the Manship has delivered! As an out of towner, I make it a point to visit the theatre when I am in Baton Rouge (4-5 times a year). I've seen everything from major rock bands to independent films, with a great bar, and wonderful dining options in the area, before or after a performance or show. read more

The Manship theater is so beautiful. There is no bad seat. I feel like I am at home with live entertainment in front of me. The facility, the sound, the lights, the staff are all so good. The ushers and house managers are very friendly. You can go upstair of the Shaw building prior to the show and go out on the balcony and watch "O' Man River", then go down to the bar get a drink, take it inside the theater and have a great time. Haven't seen a bad show yet. Thank you read more

I LOVE The Manship Theatre! It is the first place I look for something fun to do. My husband and I have been to several concerts at The Manship and no matter where we sit in the theatre, we always have a good seat! It is also a great place for a Girsl Night Out...a large group of my friends and I attended the Go-Go's concert in 2012 and are looking forward to Rick Springfield in 2014! The venue is beautiful and will make you feel like you are not in Baton Rouge, but in New York. I have also attended movie nights at The Manship. They offer a wide range of movies and will usually partner with a neighboring restaurant making for the perfect date night. The Manship Theatre is also a great place to host events. It offers unique spaces to host office Christmas Parties, non-profit events such as an auction, cocktail parties and even wedding receptions. Aside from events for adults, it also offers a great education program. I have taken my children to see theatrical performances such as "Alice in Wonderland" and "A Christmas Carol." The Manship Theatre is an asset to Baton Rouge...you need to check it out! read more
