While I love BREC and the parks and have been sending my son to Afterschool Adventures since 2021,…read morethings changed recently. A new person took over the program at Antioch Park and has utterly ruined it. Instead of kids getting to burn off some energy after spending an entire day sitting at a desk in school, they are forced to sit at a table and be quite. This should be a time for them to play and socialize and for their minds to get a rest.

WOW have they really refurbished it! The playground area is so nice and looked to be maintained very well. I noticed they have added a paved sidewalk area that goes back into the woods and although we did not follow it back I would love to come bike riding on it. Back in the day we had the woods and some dinky swings and a slide. This is a great upgrade. There is a nice children's play area including a larger set with monkey bars. slides, and several places to climb up and down. There is also a smaller climbing toy with a two sided slide for toddlers. Likewise there are infant swings - the old bucket type and swings for older children. I love the fact there is such a nice area you could really play kickball or run around.. fly a kite, etc. The tennis courts look great and so do the basketball courts. In the distance the baseball backstops are sill up and ready to be played on. Its really, really great to see the neighborhood park has been redone so nicely. I know I'll be bringing the kids back to play a lot more since seeing this. At one time BREC was doing doing programs fro kids at the park so if you are in the area it would be worth looking into!

I have sent feedback to BREC regarding the following issues and hope to hear back soon: -broken sections on the plastic rock steps on the larger playground equipment which pose risk for getting cut since the pieces are sharp -exposed rusted metal on the smaller playground area steps, the rubber coating is degraded on the side rails which is exactly where little hands would be grabbing as one tries to climb -no restroom facilities outside of business hours which are 4:30-8:00PM Aside from these issues which would only affect those of us with small children, this park is a pretty nice park with some great facilities and space. The gravel lot is pretty well maintained, there are ample trash bins located near picnic tables and playground. There are plenty of benches and a few picnic tables, 2 under the covered pavillion, 2 in the shade of the trees next to baseball field. The playground is a good size with everything one would want for kids to play on. There is a basketball court and a tennis court--both could use a pressure wash and while the basketball net appears fairly new and in good condition, the tennis net is sagging a bit (still totally fine to play on) and both are shaded quite a bit in the mornings which is great for our hotter temperature months. There is also an open field beyond the playground and tennis courts which is a fun area for a picnic or to let the kids run lose, they always keep the grass cut. All in all, this is a pretty good park and once the repairs/updates are done on the playground equipment, it would be a great park overall and we would utilize it more. I would really like to see restroom facilities added as well though.

My friends and I drove over an hour to get there. I was not allowed in the park at first because I was told my boys goggles were "not allowed" (their goggles have the nose piece) while moments later, I legit watched a child get allowed in with the exact same pair? Make that make sense. While I walked back to the truck to put their goggles up, my friends went on paying/getting into the park. When I came back up to pay and enter, I was then told they were at "max capacity", and we were not allowed inside. No where on their site does it state anything about a max capacity either. I was sure to check all of these rules before we drove over an hour!!!!!!!! That inconsistency alone was frustrating when it doesn't state anything about outside goggles on their webpage, & only to be told moments later that we couldn't enter. There is no clear communication about rules or capacity before people are already there waiting and paying. It felt disorganized and unfair, especially after traveling that far. Overall, the experience felt poorly managed and not customer friendly at all. It's ok though cause my kids had more fun at Blue Bayou anyway!
