I purchased a Groupon for 5 wks of bootcamp and broke my ankle and have had to have surgery twice. My Groupon had long expired by then and I am still testing the limits of their patience hoping to begin the sessions next month. Furthermore, I did attend one session and - for my specific purposes - it was hands down the best bootcamp of its type. Why? Because you get a full hour - not just 30 minutes. (includes warm up/down), it is outside at a park and no equipment is used (except for dumbbells), just the resistance of your own body weight. Most important of all (for ME) there is no unwanted rap music inflicted on you. Lastly, I will give one caution: The workout is intense. I only lasted a half-hour and was sore for several days. I am 57 and in average shape. I hope to post an updated review when I have completed my sessions to let you know the results!

The instructor, Manny, provides a variety of drills to keep the workout fun and challenging. The best part is (unlike other exercise programs such as running on the treadmill), the hour goes by fast. In addition, Manny also incorporates exercises from crossfit such as deadlifts, tabatha style method and kettlebell workouts. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is trying to lose weight, increase their stamina, strengthen their muscle and work or lives in the Galleria area.

The studio is easy to find with its own parking lot and ample spaces to park. The studio is clean, spacious and BRIGHT which is a huge plus for me! I don't understand how many of the workout studios fashion themselves in the style of a club or bar lately, with very dimly lit space, especially for a Pilates studio where you will need to SEE to adjust the spring and other settings on the reformer. So this is a distinct YES for me. Liz is very welcoming, efficient and offers demo as well as modifications for different capabilities. The class was challenging but doable and I can see myself returning to take more classes!

They later told me it was "miscommunication". Well then communicate better..? To our surprise the class had almost 15 kids aged 4-12 today. They expected our 4 year old to keep up with everyone when he clearly didn't know what he was doing and was intimidated. As excited as my kid was to attend class, he broke down during class. My issue comes in when rather than comforting my kid who was 20 mins into his karate lesson or giving him some individual attention or helping him with the moves, the employees told me I was "interrupting" my crying 4 year old. Also how do you expect a kid to just come in, be thrown in a group 15 older kids and know how to do each move or how to kick or how to punch or how to do ANYTHING? Isnt that what we're paying you to teach? Absolutely ridiculous.

And I must warn you, it is definitely not for the faint of heart! I'm always on the lookout to mix up my workout regimen with new things to keep me interested and challenged, in addition to a boot camp I do twice a week, so a friend pointed me in the direction of a Groupon deal for "I Love Kickboxing.com" housed here at the American Martial Arts Academy. It's about an hour workout consisting of various stretching, ab excercises, upper body, and tons of cardio all at rapid fire speed, mixed in with punch/kick work --- it's the ultimate workout. The most important thing I learned was an awareness of my breathing to tie everything together. This is definitely a challenging workout and one that gets the job done. The instructors were very encouraging and I received more one-on-one work with an instructor/facilitator that was assisting. The most surprising thing? I can't remember the last time I had sweat as much as I did from that one class. And it felt pretty damn good. I've only been to one class, so I'll have to update once I've been to a few more classes.
