The Installation Team: Jose, David, and Angel

Review of Start2Finish Flooring from 11.22.2021 -to- 11.25.2021: We had a major interior flood in our home in early September 2021. Our insurance company gave us several choices on how to oversee the subsequent claim and we choose their option of a 'Single-Point-Of-Contact-Contractor' who in turn would manage the repair and restoration from "A" -to- "Z." That company is Gulf Coast Restoration & Construction/GCR&C (http://www.gcrcinc.com). We had four flooring areas in our home that was damaged, and we elected to replace the wood flooring and carpet areas with tile. GCR&C sub-contracted Start2Finish Flooring (www.start2finishflooring.com) who have 30-plus years of experience. The 30-plus years of experience was evident from start -to- finish! The team of Jose Plasencia/Team Leader, David Plasencia, and Angel Lopez arrived at our home ten minutes prior to their schedule start time; and they did this on November 22, 23, 24, and 25 without fail. There was a lot of heavy furniture involved in three of the four areas, we walked the project, discussed several ways of approaching the install and agreed on a plan of attack. Then the team went to work. Everyday they stayed on task, they were constantly doing something that pertained to the installation of over 810.96 square feet of tile. Because there was existing tile Mr. Plasencia called on his supervisor, Mr. Junior Rodriguez, to come to the house to review the installation plan with emphasis on how the new tile will interact/lineup with the existing tile; keep in mind they use lasers to ensure how the tile pattern is going to be established. Mr. Rodriguez, after walking/analyzing the work area and discussing options with Mr. Plasencia brought my wife and I into the discussion, pointed out the areas of concern and provided at least two options in the areas of concern. Given this companies 30-plus years of experience we asked Mr. Rodriguez to state what he felt was the best option, which he did with an understandable explanation of why. We went with his expertise and the plan to complete the installation was formed and agreed upon. In quite simple terms, the Team of Jose, David, and Angel are consummate professionals. They did an outstanding job. As well, when moving the heavy furniture, they ensured we were part of the decision process on where to move the furniture to, given this project was expected to last until November 26 and my wife, our two dogs, and I are living in our home during this project; they took extra care and considered safety issues in moving the heavy furniture and did not damage any furniture or walls. Because we are living in our home during this work, before they left at the end of the day, they made sure to brief us on what areas to be careful of and the plan for the next days' work. Finally, when they advised us, they would work on Thanksgiving, if that was okay with us, given we have been living in a torn-up house since early September and the fact that when they were finished, we would have a household that looked normal, that allowed us to use all areas of our home we were ecstatic. Better yet, by 12:00 PM on Thanksgiving Day we celebrated with Jose, David, and Angel over some Apple Pie that the job was done, and they were heading out the door to enjoy their hard-earned holiday weekend. We highly recommend Start2Finish Flooring for any flooring installation needs you may have; they are professionals who do a professional job with a very cheerful outlook all day long and the team of Jose, David, and Angel worked as a Team the entire time.

4 stars??? I have never made a purchase like this before…read more I visited The Carpet Store because I was buying carpet for a Townhouse I had under contract. I wanted the carpet installed immediately after I closed . I went to The Carpet Store to pick out and purchase carpet. I went early on a Saturday morning. This place is a warehouse not really a "store". Several people were available to help fairly quickly. One to take the plans I brought in and attempt to measure, the other to help us select carpet. I did not know what I was getting myself into because I had no idea there were so many options and the entire process was confusing. From which brand, which material, which padding and the most difficult decision, which color... I was not prepared but I knew I was making a decision that day. Two hours later, I knew a bit more about carpet and padding and stain resistance, etc. We put down a $1000 deposit so they would make an appointment to measure which was scheduled the next week, once they measured, the carpet was ordered and took about a week and half to come in. Long story short, we did not close on the Townhouse and were refunded $750 of the $1000 deposit that was for approximately $3000 worth of carpet. We have about 6 months to use the $250 credit. I am giving 4 stars because this was a difficult process and I have nothing to compare to. The Carpet Store did a pretty good job helping us through it he process. I think!

Would've, could've and should've been a five star rating if not for the time and energy I wasted in…read moregetting my tile order done proper. My tile was to be installed in less than a week, all the while I'm made to assume that my tile is waiting to be picked up. I get a call from the carpet store telling me later that my tile is not available. This is the last thing you want to hear when time is of the essence. Perhaps it was due to the crisis that the tile didn't make it in time. Who knows! I was told I'd hear back with an alternative that closely resembled the original, never heard back. I'll give them a 3 star rating for the initial service I got from them, but this was a big time waster for me.

All my workers were non- English speakers. They moved my furniture to one side of the room and started laying 'wood' flooring about 6 panels from the inside wall inside my living room. As time went on they became aware that my floors were not level. They then began mixing something white with water and would pour it into the unleveled part. A little later they would lay the flooring. It took a year or so before it started coming up! I now have several areas that have risen up to the point if I need to move furniture, the legs get caught on the unleveled floor. A few places have begun chipping away at the corners, or actually chipping off the planks. I've noticed this in other rooms. I had them do my floor before when they were up on US19N. They did a much better job then; so when I had a leak under my kitchen sink on New Years Night 2022; when I was gone for perhaps 2 hours; I immediately thought of them for an estimate. Although my paperwork included new primed white quarter round; when the men left after several days that week, I noticed they they had not put down my baseboards so when I mentioned it; they hurriedly nailed it. I am not able to repaint it is I have turned almost 73 and could not stay on my knees long enough to paint it. To be honest I'm pretty disappointed in how it looked when they left. At this point I can't afford to have it redone as I have very little to live on. My total price was $7,751.00. I have no one to help me anymore. They did not leave any spare flooring. I told the manager over my job that it was a horrible experience for me, but he just replied something to the effect of "well I'm sure you will give us a good evaluation." At this point I'm very disappointed with the turnout; however I guess I just have to live with it. With my experiences I cannot give this place a good evaluation nor tell others to check them out. I thought I would get over my disappointment, but I guess I won't. I truly hope others have found their jobs to turn out better than mine. I live in Clearwater. If the estimate is still on file - the number was 23472. Hopefully others have had honestly good luck with them.
