I am giving Stars Talent Studio a 1 out of 5 and I would really give 0 out of 5 if I could. I am a full-time actor and I was looking for representation in the growing Utah market and I responded to one of their postings that they are looking for new talent. I responded and received a link to schedule a phone interview. We had a seemingly pleasant telephone interview with a lady named, Ali Clark, but what striked me as odd/scammy is that they required that I take an acting class via zoom with a lady named "Heidi at UFA," in order to be signed as an actor. The class was $600 ($300 which I had to pay before finishing my call right then and there and the other $300 would be debited out the weekend I started my class). I'm not here to toot my own horn, but I just finished studying at the New York Film Academy, and they tell me that I need to take some random class to get signed. Yeah, ok. I should have known better, but I paid the first installment. After speaking with some actors that they represent who told me that the "agency hasn't gotten them anything yet," and after speaking with some industry friends of mine, they felt that I'd gotten scammed, I asked Stars Talent for my money back and they ignored every text/email that I sent. The same goes for the reps at the acting school. To sum it it, DON'T even speak to them. They're clearly here to make a buck off of hard working actors' backs. They are always in constant contact with me, assisting, answering questions, and walking me through each step of the onboarding process. And there is a lot to do!! And do these headshots with us. Which no acting agency in the world would say that. Advise: any company that ask you to pay money even for a service run away don't contact them. Very unprofessional and rude with the way they spoke in the emails which was already a red flag for me. I started at Stars because I want to become an actress and model. In the two years that I was with them I only got 1 booking and three auditions. At first I assumed it was because I'm inexperienced but quickly learned all they want is your money. The so called 'agents' always have something else they need from you that costs $200+ and they rarely reply to your emails. They told me I needed new headshots so I did it (cost $300) and the photos were horrible! They put me in old clothes they had just gotten from DI and made me look much older than I am. They also told me that they photographer WOULD NOT edit the photos and if they liked any I was to pay $30 each to have them edited on top of the 300 I had already paid for the shoot.Then after not getting a reply back on whether or not the new pictures were suitable they said they hadn't received any photos. They won't let you audition unless you do everything they ask beforehand which is all more money from your pocket. ABORT MISSION read more

I have to say, Amber was a joy to work with. I called her with a bit of urgency to find the right person for a shoot, and after describing what I was looking for she went to find many potential people and send their headshots to me. She jumped on the ball right away and I was incredibly impressed with her dedication. For this reason, when I decided to go a different direction with the casting, I wanted to at least put it out there that this is an excellent agency to work with, from the client end (the side with which I have experience). Don't trust this agency! They are scam artists. We paid hundreds of dollars just to cover fees to have the agencies "web developers" to add our headshots to their website. After submitting professional photos to the agency, they told us they "weren't up to par" and the kids needed to wear different colored clothing in the photos. So we went to a different photographer and took new photos. They then said that the new ones didn't have "the look" and the kids had "fake smiles" I asked why all the other headshots on their site did not follow the same guidelines and they said they were in the process of "cleaning their website up". Their third party system Podio is terrible. I would upload photos and fill out the profile several times just to have the entire profiles and answers get deleted. They agents would call me and leave voicemails for me to contact them about jobs and then I would call them back and never hear back from them. When they DID call me back, none of them had any idea who called me or why. I took my son in for one of our monthly check in's and the owner got hostile with me in front of my 9 year old boy because I asked about the other headshots on their site. She was very unprofessional to the point where her own employees were apologizing on her behalf. We paid money and never got on the site or got any help with any "talent services" or even possible auditions. They kept telling me I SHOULD use them to create comp cards and get professional services done because the ones I got from other professional photographers did not have "the look". I have chosen to go to another agency and have seen a world of difference in the service, technology and auditions. Just take the time to look around and even pay more for a place where you will get a return on your investment. read more

This agency is definitely one of a kind. It focuses on healthy role models in the media, unlike most other agencies. If you want to be successful, it's in your hands to do so. If your marketing is in place, you will succeed. There is no hidden agenda, which I appreciate. If you want to have a speaking role, you must have training from somewhere.
