Bucket list item right here! We got to blow our own glass and make a one of a kind item with the help of a professional. I highly recommend this experience for anyone that is interested in giving it a try. The studio is open for observation to anyone who wants to watch glass being blown and things created before your eyes-for free. There are also glass items you can purchase in the studio's shop if you want to take something home. The classes, of course, cost a pretty penny. If you are going to do the class, know that it's very hot in the studio and you're required to wear long pants and closed toed shoes for safety. You'll be partnered with a staff member that knows what they are doing-listen to the instructions and don't be afraid to ask questions. You won't be on your own and the staff will help make sure that your glass turns out relatively close to the example. Once your item is complete. it will take a couple days for it to cool before you return to pick it up. That's half the fun-the anticipation of how it turns out. The only drawback-this is going to become an expensive hobby. read more

Really fun, educational unique experience glassblowing at Holdman Studios! We scheduled three adults and two kids (10 and 12) for glassblowing and loved it. You get to choose the colors of your item, then help shape and create it, step-by-step, then pick it up the next day. I love to see local artisans at work and am happy to support their work! My fiancé and I went here yesterday to make the blown ornament - we want to grow a collection through our marriage full of Holdman Studios Ornaments. The place was really beautiful. I'm a sucker for stained glass art. It was a little tricky to find the check in desk as it's not right at the front door, it's around the corner. The staff wasn't rude but they were jumpy, very clearly behind schedule. The Ornament takes 15 min to make and they want you to be there 10-15 min early to watch a safety video, pick your design and color. When booking our appointment, there was a 3:00pm time and 3:05pm... and the ornament takes 15 min to make so there's their conflict. This was a new experience for the both of us and I felt very rushed. They give you a walk through demo of how you'll help make the ornament, one in particular is that you'll blow through a hose to expand the sphere ornament. I didn't think anything of it as they kept going through the demo. When we finally got to that part I was blowing through it outside my mouth and the lady grabbed it and said "no, all the way in your mouth" and put it inside my mouth. I was visibly uncomfortable about this towards my fiancé as I didn't know if they cleaned it. There are parts that they do for you as a safety precaution... that's probably a part only they should be doing. We watched after we were done for them to clean it before the next group went in but they never did. We confronted the receptionists about it and they looked concerned and told us it's supposed to be cleaned in-between each group. I would advise that when they're going through the demo with you, that they clean it as you're watching. "You're going to then blow into this, fully in your mouth" *clean clean clean*. But for me personally, that's not even enough. It should be prepared the same as at the dentist... or again, that's a part only the 1 employee should be doing... I woke up with a canker sore this morning... We pick up our ornament on Monday. And I still intend to go back every year to grow our collection, but I will not be putting my mouth on that piece ever again. It was really cool to be able to make our own ornament, but this canker sore takes aaaaaallllllll those stars away. 1 star. read more

It's a cool place to look around at all the amazing art. The glass flower making was a fantastic and unique experience. this is a really fun experience and totally worth doing. we went twice and made flowers both time. you schedule an appointment online and it's for 20 minutes increments. they ask that you arrive 15 minutes before your appointment so you can pick your colors out. once you arrive (call if you need directions, because google maps will make you lost) you just go through the doors to the back of the studio where you'll check in. they have samples of different colors and you can choose one for the stem and one for the flower. once it's your turn, they'll show you a demo of what you'll be doing and you can tell that safety is their main concern. they usually have a few people in there to help you and guide you. i was worried about burning myself, but we were in good hands here. very nice and professional employees. they even got me gloves for my smaller hands! you're able to pick up your glass work about 24 hours afterwards. they are closed on sundays so if you want to see your flower asap, don't schedule it for a saturday otherwise you'll have to wait until monday to get it. they do have a gallery of glass art which is really cool to browse. very beautiful art! read more

Had such a fun time, and such a cool, unique experience... My wife and I made the sitting flowers and (i don't remember his name) was excellent. He was very friendly and nice, answered any questions we had, let us do a lot of the work and he helped with some of the more complicated stuff. We weren't rushed or hurried along.
