Roxanne sour beer
Sabrina C.

Beer (1/5): We got the Roxanne (2/5), Violet (2/5), and X-Haalt (1/5). We didn't care for the tastes. They didn't taste like sours, more like regular beers. Parking (5/5): Tons of parking because of Moe's and Starbucks. Ambiance (3/5): It was very dead when we went. They are kid friendly. We sat outside in their patio, and it didn't give off brewery vibes. It was next to a Moe's and Starbucks so there was quite a bit of cars driving by. Overall, their sours weren't really sours, and it wasn't a very unique brewery. BUT they had cute pint glasses and lots of merch!

I am glad I stopped in. The staff was friendly and the beer was delicious. Stop by and see if you disagree. BTW try the Weiss beer and the Vienna Lager!

Two words: Raspberry Sour. Not that it's the best beer I've ever had, but it's the first one I've had in a while and it was fun and different. I'm not terribly familiar with the brewery culture in this area, but starting a graduate program, funnily enough, has helped me appreciate the joy of social drinking again. My first time here with my classmates was the most recent such outing, and I liked the casual atmosphere and the requisite semi-industrial decor. Would I go back? Heck yeah. Get me a Guinness or ale and I'm there!

Maybe I'm an easy 5-star reviewer, but I look for a nice place to sit while I enjoy the beer, quality beverages and selection, and decent service. This place hit them all. You can bringin food and there is a burger place in the same location. Opted for a flight and enjoyed them all. Agree with another reviewer, the Love was my favorite. Updated: 11/2/19. If you like the dark stuff, get a double chocolate stout with various fruit infusions. No lie, and I'm a little traditional, they were great. Snagged a 12-pack for later.

Stout beer sampler. Pumpkin, Maple, Coffee, barleywine, etc. All unique and delicious.

The Brewery I have been in my live. I come from Florida at 4 times a year to enjoy the beers and great service.

Good beer and great service. Stopped in during a work trip for some local beer. Large indoor space, outside patio, and close to the riverfront.

Plenty of beer on tap!

Phenomenal beer here and the taproom is very cool. I wish Starr Hill was closer because the beer is fantastic. The Love is probably my favorite wheat beer ever so far. The Stone Rose is very interesting with the flavor of the lager and the hibiscus. I may or may not have tried almost all of the beers they had on tap on my one night here, and I certainly thought all of their beers were highly drinkable. They have a good availability of their beer on site and the brewtender was nice and helpful. I would absolutely stop here again if I was in the area.

Nice spot to go enjoy a regional brewery. The space is smallish and fills quickly during special events and music nights. They usually have a variety of food trucks different weeks, but a fast food chain is a regular option next door. There is an option for indoor and outdoor seating, but cannot hear the musical guests music outside. A nice bonus is, that in addition to the regular solid selections from Starr Hill are some new options made insight only.

Yummy! We love starhill brewery and we were happy to visit this extension. The outside doesn't look like much but it was cute inside with plenty of room and a little stage area for entertainment. Same great beers as the original and a few new ones brewed just for Roanoke! We enjoyed it!

I originally was attracted to this business by the curiosity of its name. But when I arrived at the…read moreplace, I immediately fell in love with its "cozy, welcoming, community-focused café atmosphere." As a wholehearted yelper, I enjoy taking the road less traveled in search of one-of-a-kind places and bringing them to the attention of the community, so they too can share in the joy of the discovery. Located in "an industrial neighborhood-turned-brewery-district," off Salem Ave, west of downtown Roanoke, Blindhouse Beer is a "saison-focused brewery and biere café." As soon as I entered the place, a friendly and welcoming gentleman, named Chris, greeted me from behind the counter. After I asked him, he explained how their name was "inspired by an old Appalachian term for a windowless cabin used to sober up the mind, reflecting the founders' intentional approach to brewing." He explained how they specialize in "open-fermented and barrel aged beers in the Belgian Saison tradition." After inquiring about their food menu, Chris showed me a framed menu that included a few selections of 10" specialty pizzas from Black Box Pizza in Lynchburg, Virginia. They also had some cookies for sale from Kind Bakery, located in Roanoke's Wasena neighborhood. I ordered a Hyper Cold non-alcoholic amber-style beer, since I was driving, and a Suprema Pizza and asked if he can add pepperoni for an extra charge. I then went ahead and paid for what I owed with a credit card via Google Pay tap. The pizza was delicious, from the dough to the cheese and ingredients, and was an excellent compliment to their beer. Besides their own beer, they also have available Classic European Continental Lagers, such as traditional Czech Dark Lagers and crisp German Kellerbiers, as well as beers from high-rated independent Canadian breweries. A customer came by and bought a six pack of one of these to take home, as well as a glass of their Blindhouse Beer to drink there while working on his laptop. Frequently they hold alternative music acts as well as have private events. I highly recommend this place to share some quality time with family and friends.

Their pizzas are also delicious! Cheese, pepperoni with hot honey and suprema with bacon, veggies and chili oil are all wonderful pairings with their brews. On a recent Thursday evening, there was also a bluegrass jam happening in the taproom. So fun!! Love this funky little gem.

By doing so I was able to confirm firsthand my suspicion of my amazing finding and wanted to share with the readers of my review so that they too are able to enjoy this golden needle in the haystack never explored, yet in their back yard. But before I begin, I would like to thank and give tribute to the business partners who came up with idea of this place and never allowed their life circumstances get in the way of making their dream come true for all of us, the community, to be able to share and enjoy. Twisted Track Brewpub is more than just a full-service brewery and kitchen, serving upscale food and beverages in a cool and relaxed environment. It is the perfect meeting place and entertainment venue for families and friends to meet and share quality time with each other in a safe and amusing place. First of all I was very impressed by the beautiful, open space architectural design of the building's interior as well as its exterior front seating area patio. They are welcoming and make you feel at home. When you arrive and walk inside you are immediately captivated by the place with tables and chairs all over, and a ramp and stairs that lead to a counter high above where orders are taken and paid for after you've had an opportunity to examine the menus which have been placed on every table. There "just the right size" and quality food selection menu made me want to enjoy all items listed. Especially accompanying them with a side of their very unique and amazing fat curly fries, which they call "Twisted Fries." At the counter, and extremely welcoming and friendly young lady greeted me with a smile and explained the variety of drinking items available, including very creative non-alcoholic drinks, such as the Collective Art Guava Go, which I ended up having. After ordered this and a Pulled Pork Sandwich with an order of Twisted Fries, I paid and was given my drink and a beeper to notify me when my order was ready and to go pick it up at the order pickup counter. After I sat down at a table of my choosing facing a small stage on the left side of the building, the beeper beeped and I went to pick up my order. Again the staff their were very friendly and nice. They even allowed me to photograph other menu items that were waiting on the counter for my readers to be able to view and admire. Then as I enjoyed the food that was amazingly delicious, including those amazing Twisted Fries, I looked around and the clientele seemed to be just normal and clean folks enjoying a good time. There was a group of what looked like business associates at one of the large tables. A family at another table, where the father was playing UNO with his son, using gigantic size cards. A couple at another table and so on. Many seemed like repeat customers. Since it was a Friday evening. Friday, January 17th to be more precise. It was Live Music Night and William Seymour, a musician and recording artist from Noth Carolina was scheduled to perform. He practiced on the stage for a while. Them came down and handed out his very creative square business cards with a QR code to be able to pay for TIPS and merchandise with venmo. He then went up the stage and sang and played his guitar. To conclude all I can say is: What an extraordinary dining and entertaining experience this has been. I highly recommend this place for an enjoyable evening with family and friends, and am honored to be the one who has been able to make you aware of this gem of a place.

I happened to find this one while searching for the Empanada Nirvana Food Truck. It just so happened that I found out that the Empanada Nirvana Food Truck was going to be stationed outside the Parkway Brewing Company this past Wednesday during National Empanada Day and so I researched this place to learn more about it. I found out that Parkway Brewing Company is a craft brewery in Salem, Virginia. Established in 2012, it is well known for its distinctive ales and a vibrant tasting room with a large beer garden, live music, and food trucks. It operates a 30-barrel brewhouse, producing a large range of beers from IPA to lagers. Located near the Roanoke Valley Greenway, it attracts runners and cyclists, and has become a community hub for outdoor enthusiasts and beer lovers. When I arrived in my pearl white Lexus, the Empanada Nirvana Food Truck was already parked outside, but had not yet opened, so I went inside the brewery to explore its building. There I found a casual, low-key environment with an industrial-chick interior featuring a fireplace and garage doors that opened to the outdoors, to an area with picnic tables and sun umbrellas. Inside there were also several colorful modern murals and a wide counter where customers went to order and pay for their beers. They had several menus as well as display coolers with some of the beers being sold there. The friendly and knowledgeable young lady behind the counter did an excellent job explaining what they had, including the non-alcoholic options. While going to the restrooms, one passed by a window where you could see the brewhouse. Along the way there were also shelves filled with souvenirs of the place. In the room where the fireplace was, there was also a stage for live performances, which usually took place at night. I loved the ambiance and vive of the place and am looking forward to returning to one of their music live performance and some of their beers, and knowing that they also carry non-alcoholic ones will allow me to enjoy the evening and drive back home safely.
