We enjoy visiting local breweries and decided to stop in at AFOG on a Sunday evening at 6:30pm after calling and confirming their hours. The brewery was easy to find and we originally thought it was housed inside an old school building but later learned it was previously a health services building. In addition to AFOG, there are also residential apartments in the remaining adjoining part of the building. There is a large outdoor area where a birthday celebration was happening amongst a small group. We proceeded inside and were immediately greeted by Sam. She helped me identify the IPA options and i immediately chose their Millennial Serum, which is a hazy imperial style that I enjoy. We looked around a bit, snapped some photos and looked at their swag. I'm a big tie dye guy and I was happy to see they had a great selection of AFOG tie dye shirts in my size. We decided to sit at the bar while I enjoyed my beer and chatted about our day. We also enjoyed talking with Sam and learning more about the brewery. We learned they are soon opening their second location in Buchanan, Virginia. Great stop, we felt welcomed, the beer was delicious and I have a new tie dye that will remind me of our time in Roanoke.

This is a pretty friendly place. My husband had the pumpkin beer which he would recommend. He said it had a good pumpkin taste and the right amount of spice. There was a group with food in one area. The decor was a goat theme. It had a cozy feel inside. There is a nice variety of merchandise.

You can order to go which is best. I was able to order in advance and pick it up within a few minutes. It's very helpful that the entry is located part of the weet end flats. Very chill late night crowd of a handful of guests. The barman checked my order and quickly proceeded to make my drink and offered an alternate since the main option I had was unavailable. Very spacious inside with a merch wall and pinball machine. They also have an outdoor seating yard space with yard games.

    Lil Red is delicious!

This is a great brewery! I was staying on the property at an Airbnb and found one night when they were actually open for more than a few minutes and went there and had a beer before I had to jet off to meet a friend for dinner. They're not open very often or very long, but if you can sneak in while somebody is there, the beer is outstanding. There's not really much food available to speak of. The night I was there they were having trivia and everyone was having fun. I'd highly recommend this place.

I came across this brewery when looking for something open in the area to wait out afternoon rush hour traffic. The name is what initially caught my attention, then seeing they specialized in barrel-aged beers...I followed the beer carrot to what ended up being an amazing beerperience! I was the only person in the place a few mins after their 3pm opening and was warmly greeted by the beertender (who was also one of the owners) who hadn't initially seen me, so was surprised to see me sitting at the bar. He graciously let me "try before I buy"-ed, even though I was getting a flight, which definitely won extra beer-points in my book! Their lineup was exceptional and there wasn't anything on their list that I didn't immediately want to try. Being an #abvsizequeen I was instantly smitten w/how many #bigbeers they had on draught! Another owner came in shortly after I got my flt and we began to beer nerd out about adjuncts, aging, and their upcoming releases. Do not visit Roanoke without stopping in this hidden little gem of a brewery and saying "hi" to the #oldgoats

This was the final brewery stop of the day for us and it was a really good one to end on. Most breweries in the area are downtown or in industrial looking areas. This place is inside of an old State health Dept building(or something like that) and converted to apartments and this brewery is on the end. There is plenty of parking and some outdoor seating. This place had a very low key vibe in my opinion. There was a mixture of young couples with kids to older groups. They also have a lot of beers on tap to choose from... several IPA and dark beers. We did a flight of 4. The best of the ones we tried in my opinion was Lil' red. It is a red beer with just a taste of coffee on the finish but not overpowering. Tom was the bartender and was a very nice guy. This is a cool place. I will definitely go back. This is definitely worth checking out.

Outdoor patio. Starting to rain so fun is inside right now...

Today tried a flight and an extra 5 oz . Pillow talk, peach pit, goatmeal stout, Irish red, dirty pillow talk. Loved then all! They have sold out of the latest batch of ghostly saison (another crowd favorite) so missed it this batch. Fun trying and learning. Owner extremely helpful with suggestions, descriptions, etc. Mellow and laid back.

Second visit, still great beer but we were looking for something more bitter (less sweet) in the IPA end and there was nothing that suited that taste. Hoping they experiment more and maybe do something more piney soon!

It was a beautiful fall evening and there were a good number of people enjoying both the outdoor and indoor spaces. We made our way inside and were impressed they also had a live band playing on the stage. We looked around a bit, enjoying the industrial feel of the building and the music. We took a place in line and ultimately I chose a pint of the Bareback Bronco IPA. We love good swag so we made our way to look at the offerings. My wife quickly commented on their cute and clever designs which are printed on soft, comfortable cotton shirts, hoodies, etc. They also had a good selection of assorted discount t shirts available in small, xxl and xxxl sizes. The band engaged the audience with the Chris Stapleton favorite, Tennessee Whiskey which was fun. We ultimately decided to enjoy one of the high top tables outside while I drank my beer, which I enjoyed and ended up purchasing an additional 4-pack for our long weekend in Roanoke. Great stop, if you enjoy local breweries, make sure to stop in. We noticed they are also open Sundays. We did see some people with food that appeared to either have been delivered or they brought with them.

We had 3 of their 4 versions with the hot honey and bacon version being my favorite. The bartender convinced me to add pulled pork. So much for eating light! There was enough pulled pork on the salad to fill up 3 sandwiches. Three Notch'd does flights of 4 for 10.00 and you can add another small pour for 2.5 so I ended up with 5 beers. Their IPAs were solid, but my favorites were the Jazzfest ( I am from New Orleans and all) which was a Pecan Amber ale and the Stoked Goat which was a Doppelbock. By doing so I was able to confirm firsthand my suspicion of my amazing finding and wanted to share with the readers of my review so that they too are able to enjoy this golden needle in the haystack never explored, yet in their back yard. But before I begin, I would like to thank and give tribute to the business partners who came up with idea of this place and never allowed their life circumstances get in the way of making their dream come true for all of us, the community, to be able to share and enjoy. Twisted Track Brewpub is more than just a full-service brewery and kitchen, serving upscale food and beverages in a cool and relaxed environment. It is the perfect meeting place and entertainment venue for families and friends to meet and share quality time with each other in a safe and amusing place. First of all I was very impressed by the beautiful, open space architectural design of the building's interior as well as its exterior front seating area patio. They are welcoming and make you feel at home. When you arrive and walk inside you are immediately captivated by the place with tables and chairs all over, and a ramp and stairs that lead to a counter high above where orders are taken and paid for after you've had an opportunity to examine the menus which have been placed on every table. There "just the right size" and quality food selection menu made me want to enjoy all items listed. Especially accompanying them with a side of their very unique and amazing fat curly fries, which they call "Twisted Fries." At the counter, and extremely welcoming and friendly young lady greeted me with a smile and explained the variety of drinking items available, including very creative non-alcoholic drinks, such as the Collective Art Guava Go, which I ended up having. After ordered this and a Pulled Pork Sandwich with an order of Twisted Fries, I paid and was given my drink and a beeper to notify me when my order was ready and to go pick it up at the order pickup counter. After I sat down at a table of my choosing facing a small stage on the left side of the building, the beeper beeped and I went to pick up my order. Again the staff their were very friendly and nice. They even allowed me to photograph other menu items that were waiting on the counter for my readers to be able to view and admire. Then as I enjoyed the food that was amazingly delicious, including those amazing Twisted Fries, I looked around and the clientele seemed to be just normal and clean folks enjoying a good time. There was a group of what looked like business associates at one of the large tables. A family at another table, where the father was playing UNO with his son, using gigantic size cards. A couple at another table and so on. Many seemed like repeat customers. Since it was a Friday evening. Friday, January 17th to be more precise. It was Live Music Night and William Seymour, a musician and recording artist from Noth Carolina was scheduled to perform. He practiced on the stage for a while. Them came down and handed out his very creative square business cards with a QR code to be able to pay for TIPS and merchandise with venmo. He then went up the stage and sang and played his guitar. To conclude all I can say is: What an extraordinary dining and entertaining experience this has been. I highly recommend this place for an enjoyable evening with family and friends, and am honored to be the one who has been able to make you aware of this gem of a place.

I happened to find this one while searching for the Empanada Nirvana Food Truck. It just so happened that I found out that the Empanada Nirvana Food Truck was going to be stationed outside the Parkway Brewing Company this past Wednesday during National Empanada Day and so I researched this place to learn more about it. I found out that Parkway Brewing Company is a craft brewery in Salem, Virginia. Established in 2012, it is well known for its distinctive ales and a vibrant tasting room with a large beer garden, live music, and food trucks. It operates a 30-barrel brewhouse, producing a large range of beers from IPA to lagers. Located near the Roanoke Valley Greenway, it attracts runners and cyclists, and has become a community hub for outdoor enthusiasts and beer lovers. When I arrived in my pearl white Lexus, the Empanada Nirvana Food Truck was already parked outside, but had not yet opened, so I went inside the brewery to explore its building. There I found a casual, low-key environment with an industrial-chick interior featuring a fireplace and garage doors that opened to the outdoors, to an area with picnic tables and sun umbrellas. Inside there were also several colorful modern murals and a wide counter where customers went to order and pay for their beers. They had several menus as well as display coolers with some of the beers being sold there. The friendly and knowledgeable young lady behind the counter did an excellent job explaining what they had, including the non-alcoholic options. While going to the restrooms, one passed by a window where you could see the brewhouse. Along the way there were also shelves filled with souvenirs of the place. In the room where the fireplace was, there was also a stage for live performances, which usually took place at night. I loved the ambiance and vive of the place and am looking forward to returning to one of their music live performance and some of their beers, and knowing that they also carry non-alcoholic ones will allow me to enjoy the evening and drive back home safely.
