STARMark CABINETRY (MasterBrand) - 2019-2022 PAINTED FINISHES ARE DEFECTIVE - $70,000 total loss Do NOT buy StarMark painted cabinets made between 2019-2022.I spent over $70,000 on "premium" Syracuse Maple Black painted doors/drawer fronts in 2019 (Order #323987). Within 3-5 years every single piece is catastrophically failing: * Paint bubbling and peeling on untouched undersides, raised center panels, and even the permanently-installed cabinet boxes * Miter joints opening * Rails warping and MDF panels delaminating MasterBrand's official response (November 21, 2025 letter - see attached screenshots) denied it was a manufacturing defect, blamed me for "excessive moisture/water damage and normal wear," and offered to replace only 14 pieces (less than half) as a "one-time courtesy."They demanded I permanently waive my Lifetime Warranty rights by signing the letter, stated "no further parts will be provided," and refused to cover labor or guarantee color match. These cabinets fail multiple mandatory ANSI/KCMA A161.1 performance tests that StarMark advertises on every brochure and website: * 5.4.1 - Finish Adhesion * 5.3 - Front Joint Strength (open miters) * 5.8 - Shrinkage & Heat * 4.3.3 / 4.3.6 - Chemical & Humidity Resistance This is the exact same widespread defect hitting hundreds of 2019-2022 painted StarMark, Schuler, Omega, Diamond, and other MasterBrand lines. Search Houzz or Reddit - the photos are identical to mine. StarMark/MasterBrand knows these painted finishes are defective but refuses to stand behind the Lifetime Warranty they sold us. Instead they use fake "environmental damage" excuses and force customers to give up their legal rights for a partial, useless fix. I am currently escalating with KCMA (requesting certification suspension), New York Attorney General (§349 deceptive practices), FTC, and CFPB. Will update if they ever do the right thing. We did a lot of research in regards to a complete kitchen remodel. Quite a few websites- including this one- ranked StarMark cabinets as either the best or in the top 3. On October 15th 2022 we signed a contract with a local retailer for StarMark cabinets. It was an order for 29 pieces including cabinets, kick and crown molding. the initial order arrived at the local retailer on 2/22/23. Our remodel was not scheduled until late May early June. The local retailer stated that they could hold the cabinets in the rear of the warehouse for 60 days but the warranty for damage would expire prior to us having them delivered. So we had the cabinets delivered 2 weeks before the warranty expired. Upon taking several days to individually unwrap and re wrap all 29 pieces I located 13 damaged pieces on 5/15/23. I took pictures of the damage and sent them to the local retailer. Who then forwarded a warranty claim to StarMark. In early June we received 9 items from StarMark. Out of the 9 items only 7 matched the model numbers provided on 5/15/23. I sent a email to the local retailer asking about the other missing waranty items and the 2 model numbers that did not match our order. The local retailer was told by StarMark that they would not 4 items did not meet warranty claim status. So our contractor had to change doors and splice a toe kick molding (Seam) during the initial install. On 6/28/23 we made the mistake of Trusting StarMark again. We placed an order for 3 ten foot crown molding boards. This was an add on since we originally were not running the crown around the breakfast nook. StarMark took the order and said it would be 6-8 weeks. When we picked up the crown on 8/24-after returning from a vacation- it was banded wrapped by 5 straps. The time from when the crown arrived at the local retailer and install placed it outside the warranty window. We looked at the outside paper wrapping and saw no visible signs of damage. On 9/28 our contractor was able to fit us in to complete the crown installation. I brought all the crown pieces upstairs. Upon taking the special order crown out out I found the middle piece had scuff mark in 2 spots down past the paint. Also 2 dings that still had paint on molding but was obvious. This was the piece protected by the outside pieces strapped together. Damage had to have occurred in the factory. Our contractor measured the needed footage around the cabinets and said he would have to put some of the damaged crown up. I instructed him to use the pieces in shadowed areas. After a couple of hours of installing the Crown our Contractor came inside from cutting 1 of the 3 special ordered Crown. He had only cut the angles on each end. Not reducing the length besides the saw blade. We have a spot for crown molding just barely over 119" long. Cutting the saw blade angle would have left a bit more then 119". When the crown molding was put up it was short. Since we did not measure that board prior to angle cut cut we do no know the exact length. Our contractor then called me into measure the 2 remaining 10 Feet 120" boards. On 2 seperate tape measures the boards were 118 3/4" and 118 1/4". Our contractor- who has been doing this for 30 years had never seen a 10 foot board that short let alone "3". Who at StarMark would allow 3 Boards to ship that are under length. And as a customer WHO would think to measure board length upon delivery. THIS IS THE REASON FOR THE TITLE. read more

This company just has a big name but does not offer what they promise. we had our kitchen cabinets from them and its horrible. we requested chocolate gaze and it did not come with the glaze. i have called and they will not help me out. i would not recommend this company. They take the order but does not ship everything out at one time. you have to wait for couple weeks for the cabinets to come in. customer service sucks read more

I've been designing and selling kitchens for 16 years and have been working with StarMark (as well as many other brands) since the beginning of my career. In my opinion, StarMark is THE BEST!! They provide a product we are happy to stand behind and give us very little reason to need to 'stand behind' it, because we RARELY have any issues. We do ship nationwide (check us out at www.ClickCabinets.com), so occasionally we have minor shipping damage, but even that is very very rare, to be expected, and not StarMark's fault - regardless, they stand behind it. StarMark is our #1 selling brand for a reason - it's built like a rock, is a spectacular cabinet for the price point, they have over 2 million door style and color combinations to choose from plus they'll do custom. In my world, it doesn't get any better! I am thrilled to say I am a StarMark dealer and proudly showcase their products in our showroom, on our website, in my own home, in my mothers two homes, many of my friends homes, and countless clients homes. I'm not going to deny that some people may have a bad experience, but that can be said about anything. BEWARE! We spent 32k on our new star mark cabinets. Our renovation has been a nightmare. ive Never seen such poor craftsmanship in my life. Every single cabinet was either incorrect, damaged, crappy finish, wrong size, ugghhh so frustrating. Do yourself a favor and buy KraftMaid. I'm 6 months into this project and no where near done because every issue that needs attention takes weeks. Stay away from this company. read more

Over priced. Under trained staff. How can they call themselves custom cabinets? They don't make there own butcher block counter tops, and the company that does is horrific, rude, and unreliable. I would advise knowing exactly what you want prior to making an order because they are of NO help. You get a different answer from each person you talk to. Our sales gal (Alesha) didn't include allowance for hardware in the estimate...that's right, cabinets DON'T come with hardware. They actually suggested buying from Amazon. Product and what's included was not explained clearly. It was a giant guessing game. I felt like we as customers were expected to know the ins and outs of their company. She was hard to reach, e-mails were answered at snail pase, and she called in sick on the day we were to meet with her to sign contract order. Fast forward to delivery, they charge for that too. They don't install. Counter tops were to be delivered same time, didn't come til day after. Our sink that we specifically sent dimensions to them for didn't fit. We had to pay our carpenter that much more for him to get the sink in. The hinges were not all the same. Three of the 34 hinges were the soft close. The rest were not. We had to contact Starmark again to let them know. Then they just had someone drop them off. We had to change them ourselves. Starmark is definitely not full service. There was barely a muttered apology and absolutely NO attempt to make these mistakes right. For the amount you pay for the product and lack of service you get is a joke. I wouldn't recommend to anyone. Luckily we like the cabinets. But it was no easy task to get them. We won't be returning. Wondering where we should send them a bill for all the extra work that was involved to make the cabinets the way they should have come. read more

After getting several price quotes and meeting with several people about cabinets for our new home we decided to go with Starmark cabinetry as they were the best price I could find. This is our second house we have built and will be doing this process again in a couple years and we will be going back to Starmark for our cabinets next time as well. My husband actually builds houses and he built our home he has installed cabinets from several places and said that starmark cabinets have been the best cabinets he has installed especially at the middle level price range we were working with on this house. I had a great experience with the staff at Starmark, I was able to email them question and never had to wait for answers. I was able to change things and get a quick answer on what the changes would cost me. They also gave me estimates on several options I was considering, they made up an example of each one and I was able to see it and make my decisions.
