We were nothing but pleased with her stay at this center in so many ways. My mother felt safe and well taken care of. Her day and night nurses were so sweet and caring towards her and the aides were fantastic in helping her in so many ways. Peggy was her day nurse and Krishna was her aide. The night nurse (sorry I can't remember her name) and all the other nurses & aides were very attentive and soft and gentle with her. They kept us (my family) well informed with her progress and that really eased our worries. Rehabilitation services were awesome! They worked with my mom pretty extensively and was very motivating. They did an initial assessment that helped encourage my mom on specific goals and motivated her towards achieving those goals plus more. They worked with her twice a day - PT and OT. She was in the center for two weeks, towards the end of her stay, she was wheeling and walking (w/walker) to the PT room on her own! They really gave her the confidence to improve and recover that she really needed. My mom is a total introvert. The center provided many group activities. My mom was completely uninterested. I wish she would of tried. She stays alone a lot (with my father & family) and not really comfortable around people should doesn't know. We (the family) spent as much time with her as possible. The staff was so awesome in welcoming us even when my niece would play the guitar for her granny. It meant a ton for my mom to have her safety net of family around her during this time. The food was good - coffee delivered throughout the day. My Mother was very picky on what she was eating - she really doesn't have taste-buds (for many years); the staff would often ask her what she wanted to eat and bring that. I would often come visit during my lunch break and we share lunch. The food was good. The center was super clean; absolutely not issues. Visiting Physician, Care Managers, - all great. More than anything that staff was really great.. I want to thank you for making my mom feel safe and secure during this scary time for her. You all did a fantastic job helping her to recover. She is at home now and stronger than she was before her fracture. We believe this fall was a "eye-opener" to getting her physical health back on track. She attends outpatient physical therapy twice a week and is 100% off the wheelchair and about 80% off the walker. She uses the walker when she's out in public just for a sense of security. Because she had a stroke (about 7 yrs ago) her balance will never be a 100% but with the rehabilitation she is definitely stronger; so much stronger. This was all possible because of Bear Canyon. So thank you for your diligence and hard work and caring staff. She is doing this good because of your work with her. I am so appreciative in so many ways and so glad we chose your center. Huge appreciation.

When a fall 3 years ago forced her to move to assisted living, I knew we had to find her a "cruise ship in the desert", and we did!! Mom had lived in Albuquerque for more than 70 years and did not want to leave the city, My sister and I live in UT and CA and we knew the Amaran staff was dependable and never had a worry about mom being there by herself. She had lots of friends, enjoyed activities and going on outings and had a delightful apt. with a beautiful view of the Sandia Mountains. In her last days, the nursing staff was attentive, kind, loving and treated her with dignity. They took geniune care of mom and we saw that first hand as my sister and I were there for over a month with mom and watching. There are daily activities, a wellness center for mild exercise, and a beauty shop and open patios where clients and family may enjoy the fresh air and sunshine. Kimberly, the community relations director, goes out of her way to make sure that the transition from independent living is as smooth as possible, assisting both the client and the family. There is close communication between the staff and family members. This little jewel of a facility is located adjacent to the balloon fiesta park, nestled within established landscaping. It's a calm, inviting atmosphere for anyone. I highly recommend this facility for anyone.

If I hadn't moved him to this Beehive he probably wouldn't have lasted another 2 days. He arrived to his private room at the Beehive in the mid afternoon and by dinner time he was actually eating homemade soup and 1/2 a grilled cheese sandwich. This was amazing to all because he had pretty much stopped eating prior to arriving. My brother constantly raved about Betty's home cooking. The staff was very attentive to my brother with all of his needs such as bathing, changing his brief promptly and making sure he had everything he needed. The entire place including residents rooms and common areas were kept clean and spotless at all time. There was never any odors as it always smelled clean and fresh. I really want to thank everyone at Beehive, Jayne, Sarah, Barbara, Betty and all the staff their that made my brother feel so special with their kindness and above and beyond care. I give much credit to the Beehive and my brother's physical therapist for my brother being able to no longer need hospice after only 4 months at Beehive and be able to move to a new assisted living where he has his own apartment and takes care of himself now. It is extremely rare that anyone graduates hospice. Thank you Beehive!

She said it keeps the rooms from getting cluttered and promotes safety. The apartments do not have much storage although the place we got for mom has extra floor space. I was helping mom unpack and put all of her clothes away and when Iasked the front desk lady about it she was very condescending as I was interrupting her chatting with the same resident she was chatting with an hour earlier. The facility manager quickly came up behind me asking if he could help with anything. He was professional and explained that that extra storage is in the med room and probably not the most secure option as they get donations for other people and the briefs and wipes at a free for all. I can get mom free standing floor cabinets for her things but started to wonder how much of that first showing was sales pitch. I thought the front desk lady should get another opportunity to be positive. My wife's salon gets fashion magazines that pile up and when I asked her if they would be interested in them I received the same condescending attitude again. I am a paraplegic who uses a wheelchair to ambulate and I am quite aware when I'm being dismissed. The leasing agent also pointed out the non existent smoke detector, non functional refrigerator, and a blank plate cover in need of repair. At that point I did not feel like I could approach the front desk lady anymore as she was still chatting with the same resident and gave me the same condescending attitude twice already. Not looking too good when the main contact point person pushes folks away with a terrible attitude towards communication. I waited till I got home to call the number of mom's activity coordinator. She was not in but thankfully I spoke with Destiny who quickly answered my concerns and came up with a plan to get it addressed. Front desk lady is obviously not interested in helping me at all as she could've easily directed me to the person on the phone. The entire time I was there no one came by to check on mom in her room. This was over a few hours on a Friday. That does not jive with what my wife and I were told in the initial visit. I'll change this post as mom stays there longer. I hope things get better from here. If not there are other places at this price point and care level. Destiny was able to get the fridge going and was respectful when she spoke with me. I will not be paying any attention to the ableist working at the front desk bringing questions and concerns to the more professional staff.
