Would recommend never stepping foot or wasting money at this establishment. I had never been here before and decided to give it a shot due to its proximity to my house. I went to Ally Bally and asked for a simple cut and face framing color-something I've asked for many times at other salons and always been happy with the result. Not rocket science. Not only did she give me the absolute worst cut and color of my entire life (very noticeably uneven length and bright yellow streaks near my face while the rest of my hair is light brown), she also made me feel very uncomfortable. She asked me where I'm from originally and then proceeded to say offensive things about my home state. All while joking around very unprofessionally with her coworkers. This was my first time coming to Stardust and I could not be happier . I had to book a last-minute haircut for an event and was able to get in with Kelsey. Upon calling to make my reservation I was so impressed with the staff. There were a few questions I was asked about my hair, the style, etc.. Because they wanted to pair me together with the right stylist. They paired me with Kelsey who is the absolute best stylist for my haircut. She made me feel extremely comfortable, listened to me, and was extremely genuine and welcomed. Summertime in NOLA calls for short hair. Michael delivered the perfect pixie cut that's cute, spunky, fun, and cool (in both senses of the word). Having a stylist who listens and knows how to handle hair with a natural wave is everything. The staff was welcoming and on top of things. The salon itself is chaotic and unwelcoming. When I walked in there was someone's kid lying in front of the front door coloring and the receptionist was just some guy who asked me if I knew where I was going and pointed me up the stairs when I said I didn't. There are a lot of stylists all in one space and they all yuk it up with each other while they work on clients, which is nice for them, I guess but I find kind of rude? Like a comment here and there to a coworker is fine but your attention should be first and foremost on your client. I know several people who go here regularly and it has high ratings here and elsewhere so I was expecting something nicer than this. But I believe all the stylists are independent so I imagine actual results will vary depending on who you see. For me, the so so haircut I got did not justify ever going here again. read more

I got my hair cut by Madelin! When I came in the vibe was absolutely perfect. I feel it truly represents what a Nola Salon would look like. I got a men's cut by Madelin and it was perfect. I've been struggling to find the perfect hairstylist for quite some time now since my old barber left and I know I've found the one! Not only did I leave the salon satisfied, the real question would be if it grew out perfectly and after a couple months I can confidently say it grew out the way I wanted. I've been going to CJ here for the past couple of years and she is the absolute best! She's an artist with balayage and highlights, and I trust her 100% to get creative with some experimentation--talk to her and she'll get where you're coming from (she knows I need lazy girl hair) and will also help you get out of your comfort zone a bit without overdoing it. I have long layers and I dunno, there's some magic in the way she cuts because after I see her it looks great for months. Of course you'll want to come more often if you can, because she's also so fun to spend time with and everyone else who works there is great too. I think I've received haircuts by 4 or 5 different people, always have gotten a bald fade and the exact price has varied depending on the stylist but is normally 40ish. They try to be flexible in terms of getting me in when I'm able to come for a cut. Overall quite organized and efficient and would recommend to others. This is a review for Cameron Stromboe (hair) and Taylor Savoie (makeup) who did the hair and makeup for the bride + bridesmaids at my best friend's wedding. Cameron and Taylor were very professional, flexible, and communicative throughout the entire process of setting up the hair and makeup. When they had the trial appointments with the bride, they didn't make her feel rushed and gave her room to change things around until she felt confident. On the wedding day, they arrived on time, stayed on time, and even ended ahead of schedule!! (I have been in a wedding where hair and makeup was an hour late and believe me it's a disaster.) All of the bridesmaids, but most importantly the bride, were extremely happy with their services. They were so nice to us when we were kind of a mess, and I will forever be grateful. Mayday! I had a bit of a scheduling snafu and was potentially doomed to be sent home without a cut due to an accidental mix-up. Luckily for me, Pam stepped in and saved the day by giving me a fabulous new color and cut. Crisis averted. Pam was super friendly and took her time to make sure the color was exactly what I wanted, and made sure the cut was precisely what I had in mind. I did not feel rushed at all, even though we ended up staying past close. She was easy to talk to but not uncomfortably chatty (fyi for you quiet-types) and just an all-around interesting person to get to know while my hair was covered in foil like I was trying to shield my thoughts from aliens. Plus, she has great taste in music! All in all, between the good conversation, the great staff with amazing skills, and the really cool ornate decor and layout of the building, it's a great place to pamper yourself and keep yourself looking fab all year round. I really liked the ease of online scheduling as well as the transparent pricing. I chose Ashley P. who, at $50+ for a cut, is a "stylist", between a new stylist and a master. It's also very close to where I live. Gotta love the convenience of Magazine Street! The aesthetic isn't my favorite but it clearly didn't stop me from getting my hair cut - don't head here if you are looking for a serene, bright, white, ultra-clean, modern salon full of peppy stylists. I have pretty easy hair that's never been color treated. I asked for a pretty basic cut - 1ish inch trim just to clean up the ends, with a blunt edge that isn't too heavy. I also requested using a razor to thin out my thick hair. Ashley did a good assessment of my current hair, asked about my maintenance, and we got started! She did a combo of cutting it wet and dry. The shampoo was nice; I believe they use bumble & bumble products. The haircut and blowdry were just as I expected! She offered to curl/style it for me, which was nice, but I had to be on my way! Overall, I was pleased with my result. I was able to pay right from her chair, though I was too shy to ask for the 10% Yelp check-in discount. I grabbed her card to text for my next appointment; she said the website can be glitchy at times but hey it worked for me initially! Definitely will make this my new salon while in NOLA. read more

MY 2 friends and I were invited to the Endymion Ball and their boyfriend/husband booked them an appointment to get their hairs done. The salon not only does hair, they also do brows. Apparently you will want to speak to Bryan about it; they raved he is the best! They also have a huge wall selection of hair products. If you're looking for Bumble and Bumble products, they carry small sizes for purchase. Stylist #1: Cameron was a fabulous stylist from FL, with extensive knowledge of his products because he is a certified educator. The Queen, as they all call him, has an amazing personality; kind of rough with pulling of the hair and not really listening to what the client wants. Nonetheless, my friend liked his personality...not too much of what he did with her hair. Ask him about his twin brother whom is also a stylist! They call the twin brother: Princess. :) Stylist #2: Antony was a quiet young guy from NY. He is new to the salon, and has only been there for 2 wks. He didn't talk much, but he was very nice and listened to our concerns. We had concern that the curls wouldn't last since my friend's hair is super straight and very full. Antony took his time and curled the curls tightly. Best part, he was so helpful when we had questions on how to proper loosen the curls later on. Result: Cameron's blow dry/curling style was BEAUTIFUL and natural...but sadly didn't even make it to the ball. It fell flat. Antony's curls lasted all night and even the next day. read more

She styled my hair for the wedding and she did an AMAZING job. Not only was she careful and meticulous every step of the way, she was also totally honest about the possibility that the 'do I had in mind doesn't always stick. I went in to get my pretty golden blonde hair toned to a cooler color blonde. Showed them pictures of an icey cool blonde color. Two other stylists helped the girl I went to see but somehow I ended up with dark blue hair. Worst experience ever. After, they told me they had to use blue to counter the "orange tones" and that it would fade after a few washed. My hair was no where near orange. It was a warm light blonde. I tried to be cool about it but went home and cried. I've washed my hair twice so far tonight. I am in the military and do not know what to do about this unnatural ugly blue green color my blonde has now become. I had high hopes for this place. Don't think I'll ever return. read more
