Live out your Steel Magnolias fantasies here, y'all! And Jessica will be your Dolly Parton (true story, as I was leaving the salon yesterday, Dolly came on the sound system so I couldn't help but think about this). For my first appointment, actually even before that, I had a consultation first where she assessed my hair and we discussed what I wanted and what could be done to it. I wanted a balayage situation with purple, but my hair is almost black so it would need to be lightened... gradually because my hair is damaged/thin so she wanted to be careful. My return appointment was an entire day affair thanks to the color lifting. The purple was amazing, however once I got home, I realized it didn't take in the back and there were some orange-y spots so I called the salon. Jessica spoke to me and insisted that I come back so that she could fix it. And I was there for another two hours at no charge. Ultimately there was a small bit of hair that did not take the dye and sometimes that's going to be the case. I still loved the results and literally got compliments wherever I went. I didn't even need touching up but I went back yesterday after four months and I don't know what she did differently but this color is a gorgeous, rich dark brown with slight purple highlights. And I am in love with my haircut, too (slight shaping and trim goes such a long way). Thanks to Jessica for being such an approachable, skilled stylist (check out her Youtube channel) and Sarah and the rest of the reception staff for being so nice. I'm so happy to have the Steel Magnolias salon of my dreams here in New Orleans!

Alise is the most amazing stylist - super talented! She takes her time on hair and knows exactly what she is doing. Also, she tells the best stories! I have always struggled to manage my very frizzy and curly hair. Alise did a keratin treatment and balayage. I love my hair - it's easier to manage and has dimension. Alise also uses olaplex conditioning treatments whenever blowing out my hair. It's amazing! I've received an endless number of compliments on the layered cut, highlights, styling. My hair shines. Note: I've also been to the blow dry bar and my hair didn't last more than 2 days in the crazy Nola humidity. One blowout with Alise lasts 9 days and looks incredible on days 7, 8, and 9 with a little dry shampoo (and that included 5 days of outdoor Mardi Gras parading)! read more

I just got a full highlight with Ryan A, and DAMN. He is amazing. He is definitely quiet (or maybe I'm quiet and he followed) but I didn't mind that, and he gave me the best highlight and treatment. I got a lot of foils done to lighten my hair and he put toner on at the end as well. Throughout the course of my stay my hair was washed three times (when I first came, after the highlights, and after the toner) and he put a masque on it for five mins as well. He gave me what seemed like a full blow out and then curled and brushed out my hair without me even asking. I love the space in general and the complimentary coffee. The price was great, too. Definitely go see Ryan!! read more

Just moved to NOLA from Florida where i had the same barber for 15 years. Im very picky about who cuts my hair because i like the "Faded" "edge" "textured" look. First time i went to stardust ever and i was paired up with Paul Williamson. I have to say i was hesitant at first but after he was finished i was amazed and so happy with his work. He was patient, caring, energetic and actually listened to what I wanted and not what he wanted like most other stylists do. He cared about my needs and with precise precision and his outstanding ability to cut hair he gave me by far one of the best haircuts ive ever had. If it were possible to leave no stars I would! Worst/most expensive hair service I have ever had! When I just moved to NOLA, I made an appointment here. The girl was over an hour late, then passed me on to someone else to do my hair. She seemed to care more about socializing then sticking to her appointment times. They told me they then did not have time to dry or cut my hair!! When I called I had specifically said color and cut. Then they tried to charge me close to 200, leaving the salon with wet hair. Rediculous! Rude employees, try to rip you off with added expenses they do not mention when doing your hair. Suprised this place is still in business! read more

And when I decided to bleach my hair (first time every dyeing it!), she was the one I went to. I absolutely love it!!! She always offers to fix anything if I decide I want something changed in the week after my appointment, but I've never had to do that as she always does it perfectly the first time She is also super fun to hang with as she foils my whole head. Trent has been cutting my hair for years; always with incredible precision, meaning he takes his time and the cuts really last. He also customizes the cut for my hair and my limited styling skills. I recently asked him to cut my hair short for the first time...and he brought even more precision to the table. He spent over an hour working it, and when I walked out of there my hair looked great. I was in New Orleans for a conference, which included a very important job interview. I didn´t have time to get a haircut in New York, and asked a friend for a recommendation. So i ordered 2 packs on last Thursday, the 120g and 160g in bleach blonde. I received them on Monday and to my horrible surprise they are only *18* inches long. The two packs combined on my head looked nothing. They are thin and yes the ends are trimmed but they are like scraggly choppy layers once in your hair.
