The manager here is one of the rudest people I have ever met. I like to do my work at cafes and usually sit inside for several hours, working over my coffee. The first time I was there, they had to close down the place because they didn't have enough staff. The manager told me she would let me stay but that they were going to close off the inside- so they put a sign on the door so that no one else could come in. Since I was sitting next to a window, I could see people constantly coming up to the door, only to stop short when they saw the sign there. They were looking inside, confused by the fact that there were still people in there. The whole time I was working I felt like I was being ogled by these people, and it was really awkward. The atmosphere inside felt really chaotic and stressed.
I then asked the manager politely if she would mind cleaning the table for me, since I wanted to sit on the far side of the room so people weren't ogling me while I was trying to work. She swept the floors really quickly. I said, 'oh I'm sorry, I meant the table.' She said, 'this is the best I can do, I don't have time to do that.' I was like 'umm, okay.' The way she said it was so rude and unprofessional, that I called corporate and tried to tell them what happened the next day. The woman I talked to said that she would forward my message to the person in charge of that store, and that he would call me back. I never got a return call.
A few weeks later, I went back there and didn't see the manager working there. I thought that she possibly had quit. I decided to give the place another chance. The next few times I went, I saw her there and she seemed like she was making an effort to be polite to me- like she knew she had ticked me off and was trying to rectify it?
Well, I went there yesterday again and tried to show her my personal Starbucks cup to get the points from the app. I told her I had coffee in it and only wanted to use it for points, but not to empty the coffee out (I know this is not really what they want to do with the cup because they want to put coffee in it to save them from using a cup I guess?). Anyway, I've done this at multiple locations and never once had an issue. I told her that and it seemed to tick her off. She was like, 'I'm not here to argue with you, I'm just telling you what the policy is.' Like- what the heck? Are you kidding me? This is how they teach you to talk to customers? I don't think I've ever been treated so rudely by anyone.
I took my stuff and left, and called over my shoulder to them that I would never be back in that cafe. This is literally one of the rudest managers I've ever met and she has ZERO customer service skills. The other people there are okay, I guess. I will never be back at that Starbucks though as long as she is working over there. I don't know where they get off hiring people like that to work with people. I probably won't even try to contact corporate again since they are completely useless. Whoever is in charge of this place obviously does not care that they are running people off.
Yes, it looks nice on the inside, but after two bad experiences with this manager, I will never be back. I'm telling everyone I know to stay away from this place. read more
