I'm not usually a fan of Starbucks, but this place used to be on my go-to list for studying because of the fabulous corner booths and busy atmosphere that seemed tolerant of my studying for hours and hogging one of said booths. This Starbucks is a hub of Greenlake traffic - bustling with mommy-and-me groups about to walk to the lake, people meeting for interviews, and the occasional college kid stopping in for a venti mocha frappuccino as fuel for his/her jaunt around the lake when spring finally decided to show its face. As much as I love to loathe the standard Greenlake Starbuckser, my hours spent there writing my thesis made me sort of love the place. It had a sort of neighborhood feel that I rarely feel in Starbucks. However, it has recently been remodeled and I can't say that I'm a fan. Where did the booths go?! This Starbucks has successfully been transformed from a comfy place to settle in and hit the books to a standard franchise coffee shop with cold chairs and too-small tables. The coffee is still standard Starbucks quality if you're into that, but the new remodel is underwhelming at best. They do have easy chairs now, but they seem hard to snag and the tables too low to be conducive to studying. read more

Great outdoor Seating and free wifi. My friend got her iced coffee there and got me a couple of ice water for free. I have nothing to complain about :-) I believe they do have a parking lot in the back of the store. It's convenient for customers. read more

Man, this location has served my family well for years but today went over the top. I got a coffee at the Safeway on Roosevelt Bc I was shopping. They were out of an ingredient. Y'all know how much this throws your morning off when you don't get what you want / expected. Stopped by here on the way to the park and asked if I could do a refill of the drink I really wanted. They said usually don't do refills from other stores, but let's just make this right and you happy. Yet another happy day from this location. I went here once and it might be the last time I visit this location. It was loud and when I went, there were a lot of strollers outside and folks waiting inside on their drink orders. I think because of its proximity to the water, you'll have to wait regardless of the weather. The baristas were friendly despite some of the crabbier patrons. I mean, c'mon... be patient or go elsewhere. Don't take out your hostility on the SBUX folk. On the plus side, there IS a nice upstairs deck with umbrellas, comfortable sofas, and patio furniture... There is very limited street parking plus a parking lot in the back with a handful of spaces. It was a bit of a pain trying to leave because of folks who didn't park in their collective spaces. read more

I know as a Seattle native I'm supposed to shun Starbucks as "corporate" and "cookie cutter" and hedge my review with "..well I don't usually go there, but I had to because the indie organic place I usually go to was closed for solar panel installation.." But I'm going to say, straight out, I like Starbucks. The pastries are sub-par, I'll definitely agree with that, but for those of us trying to RESIST pastry intake, this is actually a plus. The Greenlake location is by my apt and the kids who work there usually provide great service. On weekends it can be crazy when there's a line of Bellevue-ites and their strollers snaking all around the store, but considering the circumstances, the staff stays cool. read more

I live in Greenlake and go to this Starbucks frequently. Service is pretty normal / standard for Starbucks chain, but today I went in and they were sold out of most pastry and dessert options, so I just ordered a drink instead. I asked the barista for an ice water when I picked up my drink. She told me to go back in line and order the ice water. I've never had any barista tell me to do that before. This location is right next to Green Lake. It is extremely busy. The 4 stars is because I think they could make better decisions about staffing during peak times. I don't know how the staff manages to be continually friendly and smiling given the amount of people they serve but I appreciate it. Community events are well promoted at the store. Bathrooms are very clean. There is always water outside for dogs (I don't have a dog but I think it's a nice touch). If you ask me, there are way too many people in there on their laptops. I've lived in Seattle most of all my 50+ years. Seattle has been invaded by aliens. I felt like foreign [literally] when coming through the door. People were not cheerful. The workers on June 15, 2021 at around 10:45am were cold and nothing like original Seattle-ites. I am an African American male, so after getting my coffee -- my name was never mentioned -- I observed the treatment of every other person who entered the store. What I noticed was completely shocking. For more than 25 minutes of sitting and observing, here is what I saw: The workers were friendly, bubbly, and very warm to every person who came through the door -- all White. Why weren't they that way with me? I wondered. Greenlake has been invaded by people who do not see their privilege and prejudice; they are indifferent. Like the Phinney Ridge location it's in the neighborhood, and it's a great fallback when my $&#^$%#^@% automatic espresso machine works (you ARE replaceable, you dastardly machine, you...). One star subtracted for the iffy parking, however, if it's a nice day and everyone and their mother is at Green Lake. The usual Starbucks look and feel, and as a company that prides itself on the "sameness" within each location, they did a great job with this one. read more

I know that many Seattleites are not Starbuck's fans but this is one who is. Their employees are ALWAYS friendly. I don't think that is because they hire abnormally happy people, I think it's because most of them are happy to be at work. Starbucks is known for treating their employees and customers right and I've never experienced anything less. Right next to Green Lake, this spot is buzzing! They are super, over the top friendly, but maybe it was just excessive caffeine paired with a few days of glorious sunlight mid February. Considering that the line wrapped through the store, I'll admit it was kind of nice they were super happy rather than super stressed. In light of how long the line was and how quickly they moved through it as well as how delicious my usual drink was, next time I'm exploring Green Lake I'll definitely stop back in to get my fix. read more

I can see why this store has so low of a rating. The staff here suck. Legit. The girl who rang me out wast paying any attention. Thought I wanted a macchiato when I asked for a latte. I had to repeat my order 4 times to her before she understood that I wanted a simple latte. Two drinks lost. Got one. It was wrong. The staff told me to wait in line a second time to look up my my order to confirm I paid. I think it was the manager that stepped in and got the drinks remade. I don't think this store is very well coordinated and put together. No one knows what's going on with each other. read more

This place is really busy and pretty loud but you can see many people hanging out to socialize and work/study. There are a lot of different seating options: large tables, a bar, comfy chairs, tables for two, a small upstairs seating area... They also have a lot of outlets so you can easily plug-in. Staff seem friendly and they are really quick. One annoying thing is that they have only two bathrooms which is a pain considering how busy they are. If you need quiet to study or work this isn't the place for you. If you don't mind the hustle and bustle and people taking to you and around you it's a fun place to hangout. read more

This starbucks is super conveniently located for hanging out at Greenlake. They also have outdoor heaters over comfy chairs, so it is good on a cold day. Be warned, though: it is a total madhouse on weekends. The staff do as good a job as possible given the enormous line and insanely packed tables, but you will probably wait a while for a drink and will have a hard time finding a seat. Be double warned: they were remodeling the place as of a couple of weeks ago. They carved out a little temporary space to one side to still serve drinks, but the line was wrapped around the entire store and then down the block. The barista area was smaller than usual and they were having a hard time keeping up. read more

I was very impressed by this store and team. Specifically watching Tori handle a really rude customer. Tori stayed calm and upbeat despite the arrogant and demeaning attitude and comments coming from a middle aged man named David. She exemplified the Starbucks customer service attitude by offering multiple solutions despite the man trying to make her feel bad and impose his self-importance. This is one of my favorite locations in SEATTLE. They get slammed all the time due to location, especially in summer, but they always seem to handle it well. It's clean, kinda crowded, but never too crowded. Lots of stiller, yoga moms that let kids run free. Bathrooms always have a line. But, Baristas are either really friendly (about 4 I can think of off hand) or really cold. It's not quiet like some (see: kids) but tons of outlets and seats. read more

I typically don't mind starbucks, but this one was bad. There was garbage everywhere, and when one very nice lady told one of the baristas there was a lot of garbage on her table and asked if he would clean it up, he nodded and walked away. She waited 10 minutes and then asked the same barista who didn't even nod this time. She then went to the front counter and told the lady working the machines, who didn't do anything. So 30 minutes later I'm still watching a barista try to sweep up the floor but walking past all garbage on the majority of the tables. The manager, I presume, just kicked out an exceptionally nice lady who wanted to sit in one of the chairs (that no one was sitting in because the table was covered in garbage). She made a big scene and literally pushed her out the door. I get not wanting homeless people in your store, but that was just rude. UPDATE: Garbage is still not cleared after 45 minutes and barista is now walking around aimlessly and picking things out of his ear!!!!. Gross!!! UPDATE: Barista is now making drinks and organizing straws WITH ICKY EAR HANDS!!!! This Starbucks is a nightmare. Do not go unless you want icky ear gunk in your drink. read more

Love it. I've gone 2-3 times a week for about a year now. The staff is always friendly and personable, their coffee is consistently good, and despite how long their lines get on a sunny Saturday afternoon I've never waited very long for my drink. Whattt?! How did I never discover the upstairs until now!? The downstairs is loud and the lines long but you can sit on some nice lounge chairs outside and look out at Greenlake. BUT if you go upstairs, there's a great large deck with heated lamps overlooking the lake and a few tables away from the hustle and bustle and noise to actually get work done. This is my new favorite Starbucks and the upstairs section will now have to rival Jewelbox for cafes to sit in when I'm trying to get work done. Almost every other time I go there my drink is made wrong and isn't noticed until I'm already back home so it's not worth going back in to have it remade. 2 days in a row now it's been the same drink(peppermint white mocha) and it's been made with regular MOCHA. I hate to give Starbucks such a bad review but this location has been a joke to me. my mother and I went for a walk around Greenlake 9 times in a row and 8 out of those 9 days they got BOTH of our drinks completely wrong. They were not paying attention to our orders when we were talking. Out of those 8 mix ups we only received 2 free coffee cards. With the rude service we experienced and the unwanting to remake our drinks I would not suggest this location to anyone. Which is unfortunate because it is the only one in the area. It seems to me they are always under staffed, it is a pretty busy location. They only ever have one person taking orders and one person making the drinks. On a sunny day in Seattle Greenlake is crazy busy so there is usually a line out the door and it takes forever to get through it. One time I asked a young lady for a venti ice water and she very rudely said "We have self serve water over there!" and they do however the cups are tiny and I asked for a venti. Last time I checked with customer service I shouldn't have to argue to get a water. Especially not at Starbucks. Talking over her shoulder told the person (who was not there) "She wants a venti Ice water." So, there was nobody behind her, so I knew nobody was going to get me a water. So I ended up waiting for 10 minutes to get my ice water and the girl just kept glaring at me the entire time. Not pleased with their service at all. and parking is a nightmare. read more

I never thought I would rate a Starbucks 5 stars! But, I met JD and Sarah. Friendly, honest, and informative. Best info: When you receive your email alert that a free drink or food item has been awarded to you after your 12th visit, redeem it for any food or beverage with the Starbucks logo on it. I picked up a marshmallow treat bar, but Sarah and JD talked me into the $6 egg salad sandwich. You may use your points on the new smoothies. I addition, they remade my ice tea until it was correct. This location does not enforce proper dog policies and was allowing horribly untrained pets that interfered with my ability to have my service dog work. When I asked staff why they weren't enforcing pet policies, they said the manager was wishy-washy about that. I emailed the manager and she was woefully uneducated about ADA laws and is unlikely to enforce any proper dog policies anytime soon. It makes me feel unsafe and unwelcome with my service dog and if I ever do return and see other pets in there, I'm reporting that location to the ADA and Department of Justice. read more

Definitely a community hub! This Starbucks location is often very busy, but the barista team here is so on-point they make the line move fast. I don't think I've ever waited longer than five minutes to order, though I've probably waited closer to ten minutes to get my drink during high traffic times. I can't blame them a bit for that, they're certainly a well-oiled machine and I don't think it's luck that every barista or cashier I've talked to has been extremely friendly. There's an upstairs area that's often a bit more quiet for studying. Minimal parking available in the back. For the area, I do wish corporate had made this Starbucks less cookie-cutter, it has the Mcdonald's-look as my friend calls it, and doesn't add much beauty to the gorgeous Green Lake neighborhood. read more

I've visited this Starbucks countless times, since I live a block away. The drinks are fine--same as every other Starbucks. Not being a coffee drinker, I like their chai and lemonade/black tea mix. The things I don't dig about this place: FLIES, yes, flies. Every now and then you'll find a few horse-sized flies buzzing around. Gross. Okay. Its a Starbucks, so it automatically gets 2 stars for being consistent and well located. That's where the accolades end. Every time I go into this place, I have a rookie encounter. And not with the staff. The staff are great at staying positive despite the lines that typically weave through the doors. Once your order is placed at Starbucks, it is customary to move towards the receiving end of the counter. At that point, you wait until your drink is called and move up to the pedestal and retrieve your cup of black gold. However, at this particular location, this almost never happens. WtF is up with the line jumpers? You just paid, the odds that your drink is up there are slim to NONE. "....is this one mine?" NO. Step away from the pedestal and for God's sake, don't touch the cups! I cannot stand it when people don't listen to the drink being called and then walk up and touch the cups. Please, don't touch the cups. And furthermore, please know what you ordered and listen to the drink being called. There are multiple drinks in a tall sized cup. Not just yours. I have had to ask the barista to remake a drink three times (three occasions) due to someone taking the drink that was actually intended for me. I hate having to ask them to interrupt their flow of cups to inject mine back into the mix. So, because of the rookie patrons who don't understand Starbucks norms, I will choose to patronize Chocolati or some other coffee shop in the area. Because its Greenlake and we know that soccermoms and studying people alike love Greenlake and need a place to rest their weary bones. I'm not going to put up with the 20 minute wait and people haphazardly touching the cups of drinks that are not theirs. read more
