a hand holding a cup of iced coffee

The place was crowded early morning surprisingly! The baristas worked at good pace and got orders out in a timely manner. They had a huge area at the end of the bar with mobile orders that were just melting away, haha. How tragic for those people. The lady that took my order was really sweet, she informed me how many pumps go into the cafe latte and I ordered one less pump. I could have just went with one pump rather than two. They usually do three pumps for tall caffe latte. // iced cafe latte with two pump hazelnut syrup. It was overwhelmingly sweet and too milky for me. I'd never get this again. Lol, I don't know if they look at me and think I'm a child but for a while now the drinks keep coming out REALLLYY milky. I have a card so I came in, but next time I rather go to Philz nearby or Blue Bottle across the street.

Cinnamon Caramel Cold Brew

Had actually come here to meet someone but ended up getting a coffee because I had a gift card to use. Went for that new Cinnamon Caramel Cold Brew and it was lovely. Did modify it a little to make it healthy - two pumps of cinnamon caramel syrup, pump of sugar-free vanilla, splash of half and half. Really refreshing. Could have had it all in one go, and gone for a second one as well!

Hey guys! Great news! If you order any drink with no ice at this place, they will fill your drink only to 3/4 of your cups! I ordered two venti today with no ice and they told me they had a new manager that tell them it's the new policy that request no ice will no longer be filled up but a size like grande. Be aware that even if you didn't order venti but other size, it's the same when you request no ice. Other Starbucks that I've been go to always serve fill even without ice. Idk what's wrong with the new manager, but I'll definitely let people visit other Starbucks And don't get me wrong, I paid the the venti size amount and it doesn't matter if I want ice or no. The size venti should be fill up. The ingredients itself of how they make it was cheap and I don't get way it's so hard fill it up‍

Venti iced coffee 2022

This has to be one of the worst run stores I've ever been to. The four employees just weren't in sequence when it came to placing the order and getting them out in time. The girl in front of me in the very short line got frustrated and walked out and my Venti iced coffee ended up being a tall not to my surprise. My drink was fixed and it tasted good despite the awkward service.

This Starbucks is located in the Del Mar Highlands right at the end of the main driveway off of DM Heights. It's a fairly good sized place with plenty of seating inside and a patio just outside the door with a couple of furniture sets. It's always busy with students, being across the street from Torrey Pines High School and down the street from Cathedral Catholic. There's a fairly consistent line whether by day or night. It has one of the later closing times for coffee in the area. The staff are all great here. I know it typically seems to be a revolving door of staff, but the quality doesn't drop off if your fav barista isn't in the house that day. They're all open to taking preferences on your drink order, so don't be shy! Keep on Yelp'n!

Cafe Misto and Buttered Bagel
Jack M.

This is a nice Starbucks, but I was a little bummed because they could no make me a Blonde Espresso on the account the espresso machine was busted or something, so I opt for a cafe misto with 2% milk and a toasted multi grain bagel with butter only. The misto was alright but it did have an unpleasant harshness towards the end. It was a medium roast via Pike's Place. It's usually pretty smooth when used in a misto but not today as much. The multi grain bagel was very nice. It was toast just enough to allow the Kerrygold natural butter to melt into the bagel. The bagel had a good crisp exterior and soft moist chewy inside. Good stuff. The staff were nice and upbeat and capable of handling large crowds as I observed.

Finally, a fast and friendly Starbucks that knows how to get your order right. I can get frustrated a lot of the time when Starbucks have a drive-through because they place their priority on people in the drive-through which often leaves me waiting for coffee for almost 30 minutes. I love this location because there is no drive-through which forces everyone to get out of their car and also means that no one is a priority over the other person. Upon ordering, the staff was very helpful in making recommendations on something new to try and the barista made an effort to say my name correctly which never happens. I really wish I lived closer to this location because it would be the only one that I would go to, so Lucky you if you have the spot close by. Also have luxury seating outside almost cabana style, definitely recommend making some time to come hang out here.

Evening Starbucks small plate menu

This location is in the Del Mar Highland complex. It's next to Domino's. The coffee shop is overall clean, spacious and provides good customer service. They are usually open later than other locations in the area. But beware, this location is often busy not only with the line but seating can be hard to find at times. Lots of people studying or chatting. In addition, parking can be a nightmare if you come on the weekends and during peak lunch and dinner hours. An interesting take: this location offers the Starbucks evenings menu in addition to their coffee and tea selections. This menu includes different types of wine and craft beer along with small plates (truffle Mac and cheese, flatbread, meatballs, chicken skewers) ranging from $3-7.

Parking is completely stress-free thanks to a large, dedicated lot right in front of the building. Pro Tip They have an extensive brunch menu that goes way beyond standard pastries. If I could give this location 10 stars I would, and it's all thanks to the lovely baristas led by their manager Jules. I came to this location to redeem my hankering for their mocha, as La Jolla ran out of oat milk, which is basically my nightmare as a lactose-intolerant coffee fiend. BIG TIP: the Blue Bottle mocha is my favorite of all coffee shop mochas because a) it is dairy free and b) they use chocolate from local chocolate makers. Local business win! After the very kind barista upfront commiserated with me for not being able to get my star mocha the day before, my husband ambled up to the front and asked if they had a bag of Philippine beans to buy -- a new bean they're featuring. The manager, Jules, overheard and relayed that they sadly did not... !! BUT !! "I brought a bag for my team to try," he said. "My shift is over now... but I can brew it for you to taste, too." He didn't have to do that, but he was sooo kind to offer. And so, Jules stuck around another ~10+ minutes, all to give my husband a taste of the beans he simply asked about. What I love about coffee culture is the passion of the baristas and their willingness to share this with you. Jules, my husband, and I stood around talking about our favorite coffee spots and the coffee culture from here to LA for a few more minutes, before letting him go on about his day. Jules really understands hospitality in a way that many establishments don't get, and I truly love how it brings people together. Thank you Jules for showing us -- hospitality is not dead. I hope we get to meet again the next time we visit!

Greenery everywhere, soft natural light, and such a peaceful energy. I ordered an espresso with a side glass of ice, and even *that* was an experience. The presentation was next-level: served on a beautiful wooden tray, and the tiny spoon had the cutest little leaf detail sprouting from it. It sounds small, but those thoughtful touches made it feel intentional and special: like they genuinely care about the ritual of coffee, not just the drink itself. I have some dietary needs, so I brought my own homemade creamer, and they didn't bat an eye. No awkwardness, no attitude: just kindness and flexibility, which I truly appreciated. The barista went above and beyond and actually brought our order out to our table, which felt so personal and hospitable. It's rare to see these days, and made the experience oh so special. My friend shared her muffin with me (true friendship behavior), and oh the raspberry goodness in baked form. Soft, not overly sweet, and scrupulous. The kind of muffin you think about later. It's a cafe that focuses on health and wellbeing which shows also in their calming decor and use of greenery and trees both inside and outside. The cafe is at the corner of the main street but the entrance and parking is in the back. They have a nice variety of breakfast, brunch, and lunch options to choose from. They also have a nice selection of teas and coffees. Although the food was fresh, some items missed the mark and were a bit on the pricey side. My wrap was supposed to come with a cucumber salad which was really just shaved pieces of cucumber with no flavor/dressing and the yogurt dip was plain with no mint flavor or cucumber in it as advertised. The chocolate croissant barely had any chocolate inside and the top layer was so flaky it all crumbled once we cut into it. I felt a bit ripped off for $6.25. The "strawberry" matcha tea was really bland and weak and I wish they asked me if I wanted any sugar added to it. Also the "strawberry" color was from beet not actual strawberry flavoring as I was hoping for. I did not feel it was worth $8.75. I also felt the lady taking orders and running the register was not warm or welcoming. Maybe I came on an off day but I didn't feel I got the 5 star experience other people are talking about.
