I've visited this Philz Coffee in the Carmel Valley area a few times on work trips to San Diego and am always impressed with his friendly the staff is, but most important... how great the coffee tastes! I took a work colleague with me to this location today after taking a work break from the office. We both got a large cold brew and both of us raved at how tasty and refreshing the drink flavor was! I will definitely stop by this Philz again the next time I'm in town. read more

Had a great experience here! We had the Honey Haze drink and it was so perfectly made. I have had some honey lattes where the honey was too much and too sweet. Theirs was perfect. We also bought some coffee beans where they grind it for you. There are different ways to grind the beans, which I learned. Holy moly, smells amazing!! Cannot wait to try it. The cashier was patient with us for our first time when we asked questions about the coffee beans but she totally sold us on the most popular one, medium roast - Philtered Soul. My friends and I stopped by for some afternoon coffee after lunch yesterday. I got the Honey Haze (Philtered Soul Cold Brew with honey & oat milk). It was a little on the sweet side, but after my ice watered it down a bit, I enjoyed it. I'm not sure I would go out of my way to come here, but it's convenient since it's near my work. The coffee shop was very clean and there were lots of tables inside and outside. Service was friendly and efficient. read more

We went here recently after a brunch to grab some coffee. It's in a Shopping Plaza in Del Mar so go parking is plentiful. It's about an average size for a coffee shop not too small and not extremely large. They had seating inside and outside, and a big sofa inside you can sit on as well. It it wasn't too busy when we arrived so we got right up to the counter immediately. They had some new specialty drinks on the menu, the one which was the spiced vanilla and another which was the banana flavor. We tried one of each, and they were both good, however the banana really stood out. The flavor was very good and didn't taste too artificial like some banana flavored things can. The vanilla cinnamon was good have a safe bet if you don't want anything too wide or out of the ordinary. You can order them hot or cold. They also have a menu of pastries and breakfast items as well, such as breakfast burritos. Overall it's a cute little spot, with some unique drink flavors that I would definitely go back to try again. I looked at the menu and was eyeing a pistachio croissant they have, and that might be next on my list. read more

I haven't had a good cup of Philz since I worked in Santa Ana, and that was back in 2022. I'm glad this location provided a pleasing and reminiscent experience of going on coffee runs with friends during break. The cofffee tasted just as amazing as I remember it! The mint mojito iced coffee was delicious. Smooth and creamy. Asked for less sugar and cream and they made it perfectly. Service was also spot on. And very friendly fast and efficient. We got the too good to go pastries and tried a couple of them and they were very good. The cookie comeiossant was different and delicious. I have never heard of this before and it worked perfectly together. Loved how it was sugary sweet but had good sweetness and very flaky. Definetly stop in and try it Plenty of outdoor seating and I door as well. They don't have whipped cream so our little puppy didn't get a pup cup. I'm so happy to find a Philz Coffee in San Diego. It's been over 4 years since I've been to the last time in San Ramon. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. It was fairly busy for a Friday morning. I love the smell of freshly roasted coffee beans. Very short wait, when it was our turn the cashier said I will be right with you. I got the Iced Mint Mojito and my date ordered the Ice Chai Latte. I was enjoying myself in this upscale shopping center and saw Philz Coffee which caught my attention to try a coffee. It is nice to take a break from the rest of the coffee shops to try another one. Upon walking in the door, I observed a big open dining area as well as an outside patio for those that want to be outside. The coffee drinks looked very inviting on the menu. I was greeted by a friendly barista who took my order and explained the different types of coffee choices to help me decide what to order. I decided on an Iced Mint latte with Oatmilk. There was a cute little sprig of mint on top of the drink. The flavor was intensely minty, refreshing, and delicious. I can't wait to go back and try all the Iced coffee drinks on the menu. Perfect coffee spot for the coffee connoisseur! The coffee shop is large with a pleasant ambiance. Del Mar Highlands Town Center is truly lacking a decent coffee shop with a variety of coffee and espresso drinks, as well as made-to-order breakfast sandwiches and snacks. Philz Coffee offers a $5-$6 cup of coffee, with or without milk, but its food options are limited to average pastries and pre-made breakfast items like breakfast burritos and sausage sandwiches. By 9 AM, the seating area is often full of people working on their laptops (therefore taking over every table available), creating a less-than-inviting atmosphere for those who simply want to enjoy a coffee with a friend. Based on recent visits, it's clear that the Town Center needs a coffee shop that offers a more comprehensive menu and a more relaxed ambiance. read more

First time trying Philz Coffee I will say the menu and number of choices was a bit intimidating. I'm not used to coffee shops where you pick which blend want in the drink. So I kept it simple and went with the Philz favorite mocha. The sweetness and milk level can be adjusted to your preferences. The drink is smooth and if you like a very chocolate forward mocha this is an excellent choice. It's hard to evaluate the quality of coffee without tasting it as much. Great customer service, very clean location. Cheese bites were delicious. But the rose ice coffee OMG out of this world. So delicious, I have never had anything like it before. I wish I had taken a picture of it before I destroyed it! We also got the blueberry breeze ice which tasted like a blueberry muffin in a drink! I've already gone back a handful of times. My mom's gettin' on in years, and doesn't read my Yelp reviews and didn't ask me about this place before going when she stayed at my place. Now my mom can be a lot of things but she's honest to a fault and not easily offended, so when she tells me that they condescended her and treated her like an idiot for asking for an espresso (which they don't have I guess), I would probably believe her even if my previous experiences had been good, which as mentioned previously, they haven't. I went to Philz in Del Mar Heights. I was meet somebody and picked Philz because I had heard it was good and I wanted to try it. It did not disappoint. I had the hazelnut coffee with a little cream and even less sugar. It tasted great! I really liked the girl who took my order. She knew immediately that I was new to Philz and a bit confused. She was very patient with, made some suggestions and I never felt rushed. I really liked the vibe as well. People studying working from Philz and people meeting friends. Came by after having lunch in the area. Tried an iced honey haze on a hot day. It was good, but I wish the coffee had a stronger, richer, bolder taste. It was a bit on the sweeter side. You can customize your drink to your liking but it was a bit overwhelming for me with all the available options. Drinks came out fast, and there are dine in and outdoor seating available. Lots of shared parking with other venues at the Del Mar Highlands Town Center. Service was ok, the cashier who took my order was helpful. The baristas were nice too, I just wished they labeled the drinks without me asking. I think it's common sense to label the drinks if there are no sticker labels, especially if I'm a single person picking up three different orders. I asked and they labeled it no problem, just felt like I was a burden to have to ask. read more

One of my favorite coffee spots to work out of in San Diego for 3 main reasons. Reason #1: EASY parking. HUGE lot in front and parking structure in the back. Literally impossible to not find parking here. Reason #2: GREAT wifi. Do you know how many coffee shops in SD have bad internet? If you have a bunch of meetings and are worried your calls will drop, you don't have to worry here. Reason #3: GREAT coffee. My go to is the Mint Mojito. Iced coffee with a hint of mint and they use real mint, not mint syrup. Probably my favorite coffee in San Diego. There is plenty of seating inside and out. Outlets at every table indoors. I've never sat outdoors so you should double check if you plan on sitting outside. Also they have an app so if you don't like social interaction or if you're in a rush, mobile order! It will be ready at the counter, far left side. Dog friendly. I have spent many, many hours here and will always come back. read more

Not a fan of this type of coffee where they don't add milk unless you request and then the drink tastes like water with something. Every time I go to a Philz it is mostly by lack of other options around, thinking that this time I would get used to but never do. Nice location with beautiful patio entrance. really like this coffee shop! it's a good place for real coffee lovers and also people who like more sugary coffee drinks! i really enjoy the mint mojito! they put real mint leaves that help cut through the richness of the drink. together with the milk and coffee it's a great combination. my dad likes the philtered soul. that drink has deep flavor. there is both outdoor and indoor setting though both can get a little busy during the day. read more

Always a solid place to get coffee! My go to is the mint mojito and it's so good that I'm scared to try anything new lol. Lately I've been getting it with light cream and sugar and it's perfect as I don't feel like I'm drinking a dessert. This location has super friendly staff and plenty of outdoor ajs indoor seating. The drinks are always consistent here and parking is easy to find, unlike the la Jolla location. Philz is located next to Mendocino farms and one of the parking garage entrances. read more

This location seems connected to an office building, and it definitely felt like an afterthought on the weekend when the surrounding businesses are closed. When we walked in, we were told they were out of coconut syrup, had no baked goods available, and he said they were out of the first 4 items on the menu -- so essentially no breakfast items. The coconut syrup is one of Mostra's signature touches--and honestly one of the main reasons I go--so that was a letdown. And a coffee shop without any pastries or baked goods felt a bit unusual. I still like Mostra as a brand, but this experience didn't reflect what I've come to expect. I'd recommend either stocking key items consistently or adjusting weekend operations if supply is limited. We'll likely stick to their other locations next time we're in town.

The manager, Jules, overheard and relayed that they sadly did not... !! BUT !! "I brought a bag for my team to try," he said. "My shift is over now... but I can brew it for you to taste, too." He didn't have to do that, but he was sooo kind to offer. And so, Jules stuck around another ~10+ minutes, all to give my husband a taste of the beans he simply asked about. What I love about coffee culture is the passion of the baristas and their willingness to share this with you. My wrap was supposed to come with a cucumber salad which was really just shaved pieces of cucumber with no flavor/dressing and the yogurt dip was plain with no mint flavor or cucumber in it as advertised. The chocolate croissant barely had any chocolate inside and the top layer was so flaky it all crumbled once we cut into it. I felt a bit ripped off for $6.25. The "strawberry" matcha tea was really bland and weak and I wish they asked me if I wanted any sugar added to it. Also the "strawberry" color was from beet not actual strawberry flavoring as I was hoping for. I did not feel it was worth $8.75. I also felt the lady taking orders and running the register was not warm or welcoming. Maybe I came on an off day but I didn't feel I got the 5 star experience other people are talking about.
