Starbucks is still a fairly new brand to Rome, with this location on Via della Guglia, often referred to as Starbucks Montecitorio being the first location of the coffee chain in the city, opening as recently as 2023.
The interior is comfortable and impressive, featuring lots of seating, perfect for many situations whether you're looking to get some work done, or take a break and rest your legs while sightseeing in this stunning city.
It is located over two floors, with some seating downstairs, but the majority of the seating being upstairs. It's fairly spacious so it doesn't feel cramped or unpleasant when sat down, although the queue can get pretty hectic at times and often head out of the door.
The staff were friendly and spoke basic English in order to make my drink and communicate. I had an issue with one of my drinks, and they replaced it with something else without a fuss.
Prices were higher than I'm used to back home in the UK, although the menu was pretty much the same as any other EMEA Starbucks. I did notice that my iced vanilla latte was priced per pump of vanilla, rather than just one set price - 1.60 for a couple pumps of vanilla syrup in my iced latte seemed wrong.
The drink quality was fine - the only issue that I had was with the Chocolate Cream Cold Brew, which just tasted really bitter. I ended up swapping it for an iced White Mocha which was pretty good.
PRO TIP: You'll need to keep your receipt to connect to the WiFi, the signal inside isn't the best so it's certainly handy to have.
4* - It's a spacious and comfortable Starbucks in a good location within the city, although pricing does seem uncompetitive and I do think the overall beverage standard was less than other countries I've visited in Europe such as the United Kingdom and The Netherlands. read more
