We just got odd looks from one member of their staff (which was at least an acknowledgment ), complete apathy from the others, and witnessing them dealing with making drinks (the drive thru lane wasn't very long) and talking on the phone for five minutes (which is a while to wait to be served). The dining area in this Starbucks is really nice but everything else is severely lacking, especially customer service and cleanliness. There were at least 7 or 8 employees working but we still had to wait for a while before anyone acknowledged us and came to the counter to take our order. We ordered sandwiches that were supposed to be heated up and the employee helping us tossed them on the counter. After waiting about 10 minutes, someone finally asked what we were waiting on and then went and heated the sandwiches up for us. The bathroom was absolutely disgusting. There were flies everywhere. The flies were actually a problem in the dining and food/drink prep area as well. The bathroom was out of toilet paper, had trash all over the floor, and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a One long time. There was lots of scum everywhere. one of the trash cans was off the wall and laying on the floor and one of the toilet seats was totally off the hinges. I stopped into this Starbucks on my way to Virginia. It is in a great location, close to food and gas stations and really the perfect place to make a roadside stop. The main issue was the cleanness of the spot and the fact they had a door boarded up. The entire floor (not just by the trash can) was covered in dirt and trash but also the bathrooms were pretty gross. As for the drinks, I did get a dragon fruit lemonade refresher that was good and a butter croissant to hold me over on my travels. The other positive is they did have a pretty strong wifi connection. read more

One of the best Starbucks we've been to! My husband and I had been driving all day and were tired and needed a break. We were passing by on I-95 when our maps indicated this Starbucks. We were greeted with a cheery hello at the drive-through and our orders were taken perfectly. The holiday drinks are here - yay! We ordered the Chestnut praline latte and a double white chocolate mocha. We also ordered a grilled cheese sandwich. Our drinks were well made and the hot sandwich was much needed comfort food. The service was fantastic - the man serving at the window was very polite and attentive! Not to familiar with this area but stopped off the highway to get an ice coffee with my bf as we have a long drive ahead and needed some caffeine. We Decided to go to Starbucks and get our usual ice coffee. The guy who greeted us was nice and made the drinks pretty quick. Unfortunately my boyfriends ice coffee was not consistent with the other Starbucks drinks as you can tell it was beyond milky and tasted watery. He did ask the lady if she wouldn't mind adding more coffee to it as it was to milky She was kind about it and said she will just remake it for him which was nice of her. As a loyal Starbucks customer I've noticed that lately the coffee to milk ratio has been a bit off , which I've never had this issue before. I'm not sure if it's a down south thing or not. But if I'm getting an ice coffee I expect that it's more than 75% coffee over milk and you can tell by the color of the ice coffee. I've stopped here before, tons of times in fact, mostly because I love Starbucks so much. This one is a particular oasis as it is situated right in between rural North Carolina and rural Virginia. There isn't another Starbucks for miles. Basically, this place runs off of travelers' desperation. As usual, I was in that very place when I passed by. Forgetting the poor service of the past, I went in and made a b-line for the bathrooms which were pretty clean. I've then went to the counter, where I was met with lackluster service and saw a good amount of employees just standing around. I waited about five minutes for my drink, an iced coconut milk green tea latte sans one scoop of matcha powder. In true lazy/overwhelmed fashion, there were clumps of matcha floating and the bottom of the cup was caked with undissolved matcha. As a former Starbucks barista, I know that this is what happens when a green tea latte is not properly shaken using the shaker. This is also one of my biggest pet peeves as an avid tea drinker and former barista because this step is critical to the quality of flavor of the iced tea beverages. It gives these beverages a proper consistency and flavor profile. Unfortunately this is a commonly skipped step that's viewed as a luxury and not a necessity. For this reason, I typically redundantly emphasize the need for this step (though mandated by the recipe) by adding "well shaken" to my order litany. I waited at the bar unacknowledged while the one person on bar worked furiously and the other person who was coming on shift, donned his apron at a glacial pace and avoided eye contact. (This is also another violation because one is supposed be on the floor ready to work, not still dressing.) Finally, I walked up to the cashier and asked for a remake, knowing there was no other PROPER way to remedy the drink. She stared at me blankly a little too long before one of the other partners that was walking by asked if she wanted her to handle it. She begrudgingly took the cup and poured the drink that I had already crossed the counter back into the shaker, rinsed out the original cup, shook up the contents and put it all back into the same cup which I'm pretty sure is a health code violation. When she handed it to me with an attitude, I still thanked her. Now confident of their lack of aptitude, I decided to leave instead of belaboring the issue which I was confident would've fallen on deaf ears. I say this all in the context of a former Starbucks barista and a long time patron. These are bad practices that would be reprimanded by the quality control team and DM. I can confidently say this is the worse Starbucks I've been to and that I rather drive another 30-50 miles without my Starbucks fix than to stop here and spend the same amount for subpar service and questionable practices. With an average 2-star review, it would seem that management has turned a blind eye and deaf ear to a store that violates the best practices and principles of Starbucks. read more

Please don't go by these two star reviews. Most of them come form northerners coming off i-95 probably already in a mood from all the driving. You have one lady complaining about the milk ratio at different Starbucks chains. Like seriously, you rate a whole store based on something that ridiculous? I live in this town. I visit this Starbucks frequently (well pretty infrequently now once those budgeting apps told me how much i spend here per month). The workers have always been polite. If my drink is wrong (no one is infallible) they are quick to apologize and fix it. Even the times I have goofed and wanted something iced and not hot but forgot to say it, they will remake the drink for me. If you are expecting the couple of workers in there to stop everything they are doing to bow/curtsy to you/blow a bugle/have rose petals thrown at your feet because you are going to spend 5~7 on a frap then yah, this isn't the place for you. And you should probably check your ego. I don't know many stores where people stop working to greet everyone who walks in. If you are the more humble down to earth sort, who'd like to order a drink, and be spoken to and treated courteously, then by all means visit. NOTHING is wrong with this location. The next closest one in Target in Rocky Mount, that ones pretyty gross. Never had a tasty drink from there. People were very nice just the drinks not very. And no i don't work here, don't know anyone who works there. Although a couple of years back there was this one dude. I'm going to have to give this Starbucks a four-star rating due to the fact they still had my drink as well as my boyfriends. We are from North Jersey so everyone already knows pumpkin spice is off the shelf after three weeks, haha. I have tried drinking pumpkin spice for the past three seasons and I could not get myself to like the taste. However, I tried the Nitro Cold Brew with Pumpkin Cream Cold Foam and it is seriously a game-changer. I think the reason being is because you're only getting a hint of pumpkin from the foam, rather than all chunky syrup from a latte. Was on a long road trip and stopped by here with my girlfriend around 6pm on 9/1/23. Nobody was in line and 5 people were behind the desk, not one person acknowledged us, not one "hi, how are you?" A young lady took our order and I used the restroom. When I say it was FILTHY, the floors couldn't have been mopped in the last week. Flies were all over the back on the table where they were making drinks. There was hair on the floor in the lobby, I felt instant disgusted and upset I ordered food. I tasted my vanilla bean frappe and didn't like it, I asked a guy behind the counter (with colored hair) don't know his name, if he could remake it with Java chips because I did not think it tasted good and it was just ice chips and my girlfriend said the same, very watery. Spend $18 mind you and had been in the car all day. He went to say "we'd have to ring you up for a new drink" and I asked just to pay for the price of the Java chips and he looked at me shock that I would ask such a thing and rudely said back "I can't do that if you want that I need to ring you up again". My girlfriend and I left and did not drink our watery ice chip drinks nor did we eat our cake pops after seeing how filthy and rude the employees were. We will not be returning and will make sure to tell friends and family who pass through to skip this spot.
