We made a quick and easy detour to escape the traffic and stumbled upon this super cute peanut shop--totally worth the stop. The moment we walked in, we were greeted by the warm, savory aroma of freshly boiled peanuts and an incredibly friendly lady who made us feel right at home. We browsed around and left with two cups of boiled peanuts, 2 lbs of raw peanuts (to make my own), and a can of butter toasted pecans. The shop is full of goodies, including local honey, trail mixes, and all kinds of flavored pecans and peanuts--perfect for snacks or gifts. What really made this place stand out, though, was what I discovered on their website. The history of the Good Earth Peanut Company and the family behind it is genuinely fascinating. Whether you visit first or just want to learn more before you go, definitely take a moment to read their story--it adds so much heart to the experience.

My sister and I were traveling I-95 South reading the signs for this peanut shop. OMG when approaching it we felt like time travelers, waaaay back. We had to cross the railroad tracks to get to the building that had us question to go in. We got out of the car reading the signs that were warm and humorous and decided let's do this. Walking in we were greeted by the nicest lady that immediately made us feel welcomed. The walls were beautifully arranged with the goodies and souvenirs. Samples of most are offered and the customer service was EXCELLENT!!!! We had the most wonderful conversation with one of the owners, Scott. Yes, her name is Scott and her husband's is Lyndsey. She joked about it. She was genuine and appreciative of everyone that stopped in. This is worth coming off the highway in Skippers, VA exit - 4. This place is delightful to visit in this day in time. Blessings to you Scott and Lyndsey !!!!

What a great place! Just off the highway - well worth a stop. The building itself is great - from the 1800s. Massive nut selection, including fresh boiled peanuts. The redskin peanuts were excellent. My wife loved the chocolate covered almonds.

    Love sign

This place was such a gem! We saw the billboard on the highway and decided to stop and it did not disappoint!. They get the peanuts from farmers in the surrounding fields and over a variety of flavors. I loved the salted redskin peanuts, they were super delicious and crunchy. I also LOVED the chocolate peanut butter peanuts. I got a small can, drove half a mile down the road and had to turn around and the big can. So good! They also have a super cute LOVE sign that they put up celebrating peanuts. Great spot

Good Earth Peanut Company INTRO: Off of main highway in Skippers Virginia. Honey Roasted Peanuts, Peanut Brittle, chocolate covered cherries. The actual peanut products were not as impressive as was expected with a small company. The best might have been the chocolate cherries. Parking/location: It was on a gravel dirt drive just past railroad tracks, with minimal parking space out front of the building. After seeing many signs on the road and with a strong curiosity it made for an interesting detour on a long trip. Ambience and Service- Small/quaint shop that was located just outside of a factory building. Had a very old fashioned/ country style appeal and the lady at the front register was incredibly friendly.

This place is amazing! 1) They have boiled peanuts (that was enough for me to stop ), 2) It smells like a slice of Heaven in there, 3) Everything I have purchased is so, so good. I am still dreaming about the Cajun boiled peanuts! We recently stopped in on our drive up up to Maine from Florida and it is right off the highway. Extremely convenient to grab some gas and head further on down the road to get some of their delicious food offerings! Make to stop, you won't regret it.

Southern rural atmosphere with delicious peanuts and ecstatic customer service. There's even a wooden cutout of a peanut where you place your face up to the hole and take a picture with the name and location of the business.

If you're on 95 this one is up there with South of the Border in terms of seeing signs miles and miles before you are even close to the store. Thankfully Good Earth does not have a cliché stereotype mascot nor are they using triple entendres to sell their products. Whatever. As others have mentioned the drive from 95 is very short. Get off at exit 4, drive past the two truck stops down Moore's Ferry Road and you're there. Even though you are very close to the highway when you get out (unless there happens to be a CSX freight blasting by) it's very quiet. Like Walking Dead quiet vibes. Odd. I know. The building that houses the store looks like it's ready to fall apart and once inside you see that they have every inch of shelf space packed down mostly with their stuff but there are also a few outside items that they carry that are not local plus large sacks of nuts all over the floor. There's a lot to see. We eventually settled on some cashews, sea salt peanuts and a few local sweets. Prices are certainly not cheap and I don't know how much it tastes better/different than Planters but at least you know here who you are supporting. Sampling is more than encouraged and if the owner is there she will be more than happy to tell you about their process and how they started by boiling their first batches of their kitchen stove top. Overall a truly quirky neat roadside experience that I'm glad we tried and I'm sure it'll now be incorporated into future trips through the area.

Friendly, great sense of humor, not far off 95. Great selection of peanuts and jelly and jams. Everything we treated has been amazing.

The Good Earth Peanut Company is a pretty fun little spot we stopped by in Emporia on our way to Richmond. The peanut variety was plentiful. The thing that got me going was the fact that they were boiling peanuts on site that smelled like cured bacon, sheesh I can still smell the goodness. They also had local jams, jellies and actual slabs of cured bacon for sale as well. They also ship orders if you can make it in there. Order the bacon ranch peanuts and and the chocolate peanut brittle or the wasabi nuts LOL, clearly I have a thing for bacon infused food #eatingwithchefseanandre Its Gon Be Dope! #wefindthefood

We recently decided to "see something new" by taking the slower, less familiar route. Despite having lived in Virginia for over 30 years, we didn't realize that we would be traveling through some of the counties where Virginia's famous peanuts are grown. The first billboards near Waverly caught our attention, but we didn't stop at the first shop that was advertised. We decided that, if there were any other peanut shops, we would stop because Virginia peanuts would make a perfect present for our upcoming visits with some non-Virginia friends and relatives. Thankfully, we found Adam's Peanuts and Country Store soon after. As others have mentioned, Adam's is a true country store, with country smoked hams in crates as you enter, homemade jams and jellies, a dizzying array of peanuts (raw, boiled, salted, chocolate-covered, and more), plus much more. As mentioned, we were there for the peanuts, and ended up buying a whole box full -- about $140 worth to be precise. The quality of the nuts is top-notch, and we appreciated the variety of the products. The prices also weren't too bad though my husband tends to compare these to the giant canisters from Costco! The ambiance of the shop was also country comfortable. My 3-star rating mostly reflects the lack of attention from the elderly shopkeepers. While others on Yelp have characterized them as friendly and helpful, that was not our experience. While we were the only customers upon entering, neither greeted us when we came into the store. My husband asked if they had any samples of the nuts for us to try to help inform our decision on which nuts to buy. They didn't, and they seemed befuddled by the question. Finally, in checking out, I tried to engage them in a conversation about peanut growing in the county, to no avail. March, 2025.
