Starbucks Reserve Roastery Milan is one of the remaining 5 roasteries. It's a gorgeous place with astrological elements mixed in. We arrived around 9 am and it wasn't as busy as when we revisited later in the afternoon. There are two lines on either side of the place and QR codes tos can the menu. We ordered some pastries, the yuzu thyme espresso tonic, roastery caffe leccese, and the tiramisu latte. All of the drinks were delicious and balanced well with the pastries. The tiramisu latte was delectable and we ordered it again when we came back. I was hoping to find more Starbucks location mugs but I didn't find any here, which was surprising. The merch itself is rather expensive but I did get some souvenirs for friends and coffee beans. The bathrooms are located downstairs and are clean. read more

The place is massive and feels almost museum-like, with marble floors, a full bar, tons of drink options, pastries, and this insanely cool overhead bread conveyor system moving fresh baked goods around the space. You can also watch live coffee roasting and espresso demonstrations, which makes it feel like part café, part experience. That said, it's extremely popular. Finding a seat can be tough, especially during peak hours, so don't come expecting a quiet place to camp out for hours. Stopped by here while shopping in the area because my sister wanted a mug to add to her collection. The place was very busy but not packed. I did some merch shopping but the prices were pretty high. The staff was friendly and helpful which is the only reason for the second star. I wanted to try their espresso since that's what I've been drinking at all the local coffee shops during my trip. The espresso reminded me why I dislike Starbucks so much. Even in Italy at their Roastery their espresso was horribly bitter and acidic and borderline sour with no depth of flavor at all. I almost gagged on it. It was a huge let down after the high quality and depth of flavor of the espresso I had been drinking at local places. I'm sure one of the signature/exclusive flavored drinks on the menu would've been a bit more palatable but I'm just glad I didn't spend more money to find out. The Tiramisu was just alright. I won't be back. Save your money and your tastebuds and drink coffee from a local Italian place instead because this place is truly a tourist trap. read more

There are 6 Starbucks Reserve Roasteries in the world and we try to check them out if we are in the specific city. The place is much smaller than the one in Chicago, but the historic building is cool. We came in the morning and it wasn't too crowded, but it still took a long time to order and purchase. I wanted something unique and went with the Oleato Fior di Latte Affogato, which is topped with EVOO and Maldon salt. I could've done without the salt, but enjoyed it overall. Such a cool experience. There was a line to enter, but it does quickly. There were several areas where you could order specialty coffees, pastries and food, and other specialty drinks. I didn't order any drinks, but I did grab a fruit tart, pizza cookie, and cheesecake for later. All so good. The staff get your order rather quickly so don't let the long lines discourage you. We randomly found Starbucks Reserve Roastery by accident on the second day we were in Milan. I told Mink we should take a look since we had time and we were there. She was hesitant at first but we ultimately went in. This location is smaller than the Seattle location but it was nicely done. They have locations of Starbucks Reserves etched in the wall, a nicely decorated scooter up front, souvenir stands all over, tables and counter seating. Of course they have the giant roasting machine in the center. There are restrooms downstairs toward the back. After looking around, Mink ended up buying a souvenir from here to remind her of Milan. The next day we were in the area again and decided to have coffee. Normally I would suggest a local cafe but I needed caffeine and it was close by so we visited again. We came on a National Holiday and this place was *mobbed! It was very difficult to figure out what was what as we tried to make our way through the crowd! There appears to be food options on either side of the entrance where you stand in line and wait for your order which is placed on a small paper tray. Pay, carry your food away and hopefully find yourself a place to sit on the lower level. This level also has lots of merch. Upstairs is a sit down restaurant. Outside is more seating. This building is the old Milan Post Office, so the exterior has a lot of history. The interior is all shiney and new. If you are a Starbucks fan you just have to try it. I was all about trying a different spot every day during my trip to Italy but I have to admit, Starbucks Reserve Roastery in Milan is my happy place (as it should be for any coffee lover) and I had to come back every opportunity I got (except when there was a long wait outside) and even stayed until closing one night lol. I suggest coming here later in the evening if you don't want to wait on line. The only thing is, if you are obsessed with Espresso Martinis like me, you may have some trouble sleeping later on, but I promise you, it was SO worth it! This is a must-visit for any coffee lovers! Gorgeous building from the outside and upon walking in, I was captivated by the ambiance. It is truly an incredible atmosphere - the roasting machines, the decor, the aroma of freshly ground beans. I went straight up to their bar and finally got my first Espresso Martini Flight ever which was to die for. Once I finished that, I ordered the Oleato Golden Foam Espresso Martini. Oh.. my.. goodness.. it was out of this world, I wish I could teleport right now just so I can have this delightful cocktail again and again. Who would of thought olive oil in the foam of espresso martinis would go so well together?! It's in my bucket list to visit all Starbucks Reserve, and was able to check one off during a recent visit to Milan. Gorgeous building architecture and expect a line just like with other Reserves. Inside is gorgeous as well. Had a couple of coffee drinks and local Milanese pastries by Rocco Princi. By the way, don't think you can have that latte with oat milk, because they didn't offer that milk alternative, so I had it with good ole fashion 2% cow's milk, which I didn't mind. After all, I was in Milan having a latte! Also got some whole beans which I asked to be ground for French press but came home with whole beans still - oh well. When I make it back to Milan, I'll be sure to make a stop at this Reserve, and maybe get another keepsake mug? read more

I have been to a couple other Reserve locations but nothing like this one. The lines were long throughout the location and took about 20 minutes to get a drink. The production operation is very unique and quite amazing. It's a must visit. There is a smaller traditional SB a few blocks away and there was seating available. This place was huge! They had a cute little area for you to sit outdoors and quite a bit of space indoors. There was quite a bit to look at coming in, but this Starbucks makes you feel like you're in a coffee bean factory! They even had this cool machine that pumps or grinds coffee beans! They have three different cashier locations, one for ordering in, one for the bakery and the other for the souvenirs or merch. There was quite a bit of seating when I got there but it was pretty late at night, about 8/9 PM. Even during this time, the Starbucks was pretty crowded. If you're going to buy merch and the ordering line is short, I suggest taking your order first and then waiting in line for the merch! That way your order is ready by the time you finish your merch shopping. Also, I wish I had more room to try the drinks and sweets. It didn't disappoint! At first I thought lemon-y flavor with coffee was weird, but oddly enough it was tasty! Good amount of roastiness with a sour touch. Who knew that would've gone so well together! This was so fun! I've been to two is the reserves so far. We got a gelato drink and it was so savory and filling and delicious! The girl taking our order easy beyond nice and we bonded over the fact we both like rabbits! They were all so kind to all the tourists which was awesome! A recent tour guide said Milan welcomed Starbucks Reserve because they refurbished the old stock exchange building. It really is a beautiful building in a great location. Especially on the exterior, SB maintained a lot of the old touches. It is steps from the Cathedral and other tourist destinations. It is worth visiting just for the ambiance alone. I grabbed a seat overlooking the giant roasting machine. It was cool to watch while enjoying a beverage and snack. The baked and other items were diverse in selection. I think this Reserve partners with famous Italian baker Rocco Princi. Surprisingly, it is his branding on the takeout bags and on the wall. My wife loves Starbucks Reserve Roasteries and has been dragging me around the world to check them out. There are six roasteries currently in rotation as of 2023 which includes Seattle, Shanghai, Milan, New York City, Tokyo, and Chicago. We have now been to 5/6 of them (we still haven't been to the Shanghai location). The Starbucks Reserve Roastery is tens of thousands of square feet and looks like a theme park experience, including coffee bars with tastings, cocktail bars, areas to observe the roasting and brewing processes, areas to purchase food, and local artwork throughout. The facilities also roast, package, and ship coffee to stores in their regions. The Milan location was the most underwhelming out of all roasteries around the world so far. It's not bad, but the rest of the Roasteries felt more luxurious than the Milan one. The Milan location felt more like an above average Starbucks versus something you must absolutely experience like the other Starbucks Reserve Roasteries. Saying that, it was still cool to see the Milan location housed in Italy's historic architecture. If you're in the heart of Milan, I would say come check out the Starbucks Reserve Roastery if you have never experienced one before. It may very well be a 5/5 experience for you! If you're a veteran Roastery explorer, be forewarned, it may be the most underwhelming out of the rest of them. read more

Our favorite Starbucks Reserve Roastery we've visited. We came here every afternoon of our trip to Milan for a drink - they were that delicious. With table service, you also get olives and cheese. The service was upstairs and was good. We had fresh water at all times; and were checked on frequently. I loveeeee this Starbucks Reserve! It's so pretty! Omg... it was sooo crowded. But the lines move fast... divide & conquer... someone order the drinks & food, someone grab seats! It's crazy mad house... but once you're seated... it doesn't feel hectic after. Love the praline cappuccino I got, and the strawberry shortcake was freaking bomb!!! Wish I got like 2 pieces. We also got a raspberry tart, that's good too but not as sweet as the strawberry. Also got a prosciutto flatbread pizza... that's ok. Love the pastry more! What an experience, must try at least once. This is my first visit to a Starbucks Reserve location and this is fantastic. There is such a different energy to this store. People want to stay and linger, eat, drink and chat. There are so many foods and drinks to try. A large part of the store houses the items needed to process the coffee beans. There are a variety of HUGE storage containers, a roaster and an elaborate coffee bean conveyor system that runs overhead and around the store space. There are several counters for ordering foods and drinks, a Starbucks merchandising area and lots of seating including some seats in the outside front of the store. Although there were so many people coming to visit, take photos, and walk the store, the service was fast. The drinks offered were well crafted and different from the typical locations. The food and drinks were plated with care on serving trays with all needed utensils and napkins. I'm so glad Starbucks has created these unique and special locations.
