Many locals stopped in for the traditional Italian standing at the counter espresso and cornetto. We, however, wanted to sit down and relax and they had ample seating upstairs to do so. The waitress brought our cappuccinos to our table and we enjoyed looking down at the bustling cafe. The pastry selection was amazing and it was hard to decide what to get! I got a savory croissant sandwich and a pistachio cream-filled croissant. I ate a croissant every day for a week in Italy and these were definitely the best ones we found! The pistachio cream was a little sweet and it was filled to the point that when I bit in it exploded everywhere, but then again I'm a bit of a mess. Also no regrets. If I had been in Milano longer I would have come back to try even more pastries!

Lavazza Super Crema: Founded in Turin in 1895 by Italian Luigi Lavazza, Lavazza Coffee is still a…read morefamily business as it is currently administered by the third and fourth generations of the Lavazza family. I discovered their Super Crema blend as it frequently came up while searching for best tasting brands that can be found at grocery stores. The packaging is an attractive dark blue and gold that radiates elegance. Super Crema is a blend of both arabica and robusta beans with origins in Asia and South America. The official description from Lavazza is "full-bodied, harmonious experience, with notes of roasted hazelnut and brown sugar." My bag contained whole beans and grinding them at home helped me to brew the freshest cup possible. Sipping a warm cup, I could detect a mild roasted hazelnut, brown sugar is a stretch though. Regardless, this is still a delicious blend and is significantly better than the only other blend I've tried from Lavazza. We stopped in Milan for 3 days and all 3 days came here for breakfast because it was just simply the best. However, €3.5 for a cappuccino is... not ideal, especially from a chain rather than a small shop. I never like to pay over €2. The first time here, we were informed of a €3 charge to sit at a table that's not at the bar. The thing is, there's not really a bar...this confused us, but we went with it. The second day, no charge. Huh? They had a great-looking menu with plenty of options, but this fell short. Unfortunately what's available in their glass cases is all they have for the day, so my friend and I were stuck with minimal options. The ham and cheese I got was fine, nothing special. My friend's croissant was far too cheesy, overwhelmingly so. However, we were consistently impressed by the drinks. I'd recommend coming here for a coffee or tea, but maybe try somewhere else for food unless you come in earlier.
