Cappuccino and grape bun. Overpriced compared to what you can find elsewhere. They know tourists don't know and can get away with it...

The only reason I visited this cafe is because it seemed like a "modern" enough place to allow people to work on their laptops. Most local coffee bars in Italy don't offer wifi or like people to sit in their establishments for a long time working...they want people to take their two sips of espresso and leave! They obviously know English-speaking tourists will come by, and they can get away with charging 2.50-2.80 for a cappuccino, when in reality 1.40 is the standard price at any local bar. Still, the interior is spacious enough to sit down and work comfortably. It's convenient, but just know you are paying more than you should.

Cappuccino, ham sandwich, fresh squeezed juice and apricot pastry

The moment when something is right under your nose, but you still miss it. We've all had it happen. This little cafe is so close to duomo, the massive herds of uncontrollable tourists, yet most visitors don't know to come here. It's to Duomo area as Oasis is to a desert. The folks in the establishment were all Italians and the only reason I've stumbled in here was thanks to the advice of a dear yelper, Salvatore. Part I: Bold, Interesting and Exciting I liked the decor here very much. From the lamps to the chairs, the design choices embellish Milan's appetite for good style. White chairs, abstract lamp shapes, modern wooden bookshelves. It was a pleasure to see the design here. Part II: The Selections I had one of the ham sandwiches and it was quite good, although way too much bread for my taste. Luckily, it's an easy to solve problem simply by taking off the top slice. The fresh juice selection is phenomenal, blueberry and Apple was very good. Pastries are true European fashion, in other words, not oversugared and delicious. And of course, cappuccino! Part III: Service Folks were attentive. Just be prepared that service works a bit different in Italian cafes than in US, you may have to flag someone down to get the bill closed. Not a big deal, just a cultural nuance. Overall, a pleasant place to grab some coffee and a light meal very close to the Duomo area.

On our visit to Milan we came for breakfast at Farins & Cucina at around 9am and the restaurant was…read morestill not open. We hung around for a few minutes yet nothing happened so we decided to head somewhere else as we were on a schedule. Later in the week we decided to give this another try and I am glad we did. This time we got here closer to 11am and the place was buzzing. We were seated promptly along with the menus. I ordered the veggie omelette and it turned out to be really good. Even though we didn't get a chance to try but they have a lot of bakery pastries and sandwiches which most people were taking out and looked pretty yummy. 5 star cafe a couple of minutes walking from the Duomo in Milan. We tried the breakfast and it was awesome.

Right off the main touristy square on a side street, you will find Farina & Cucina, with windows of…read moresweets that just pull you in. Since we were looking for something other than pasta or pizza, we were pleased to sit and enjoy a meal here. As soon as we entered the restaurant, we were greeted and sat down at our choice of tables. I must have had the biggest eyes ever, as I just couldn't get enough of the pastry shelf....lined with colorful shapely items that I was going to have....after lunch. Ordered our drinks, Ichnusa beer. A regional local beer that is OH SO GOOD. As we made a final decision on our meal...I couldn't have been more pleased. This place offers you many choices, from panni's, to pastas, to hot meals, to pastries, to breads to take away... you name it...they have it. I settled on the chicken in rosemary with grilled veggies and a salad. When they brought out my plate, I was in heaven! The chicken was cut thinly smothered in a rich gravy with grilled eggplant and zucchini with tomatoes. This dish was succulent, with a nice mild taste of rosemary, but the gravy is what did it for me. It was rich in flavor, creamy, and I wanted to pick my plate up and lick it clean....but I didn't. The veggies were lightly grilled with olive oil and mixed well with my meal. I then had to top if off with a few different pastries. I can't tell you the name, I just pointed until I was done. I had a pistachio pastry, a lemon pastry, Nutella filled pastry, and a pistachio filled....all were delicious and devoured. I wish I had time in Milan after finding this place, because I was in love with that chicken dish, and know that I could never recreate it at home. I would definitely go back if in the Milan area again....even if just for the chicken without pastries!
