Friends of ours are dealing with a very, very tough situation and since we're 1500 miles away and unable to help out, our family wanted to send a little "package of comfort" to them during this hard time. After calling Saffron and speaking with (I believe) the owner/manager we were able to put some delicious pastries and cookies together. They even were so kind as to write a small note for us. While the store doesn't usually offer delivery - the owner was so moved by our situation - that he was open to hand-deliver the package AFTER closing. The donuts and cookies were very much appreciated by our friends and they let us know that everything was fresh and exceptionally delicious! Thank you again, Saffron Cafe and crew for going above and beyond!

I had a little difficulty with what these things are but our server was great. She explained things & helped me with my order. It was so good I'm sure I could have eaten another. They had so much that looked and smelled incredible. The place itself was clean and very cool. The booths are built bt large wooden beams. It was a great morning trip to the waterfront. I'm giving it a 9.9 out of 10. I'm not sure why it wasn't a 10 but....

The Painkiller is fantastic, especially if you add caramel. The Epic Vanilla Skooma is dangerously addictive - the flavor profile is incredible, and honestly nobody else in the area comes close. The Buzz is another excellent choice. The food is just as impressive. Their linguica and cheese rolls are leagues above the competition, and I'd put them alongside the very best around. I highly recommend ordering a regular cheese roll leveled up with egg, bacon, and their house-made hot sauce. If you enjoy a Portuguese style hot sauce, this combination is absolutely worth trying - you will not be disappointed. The peanut butter cookie is unreal; I genuinely wish I had the recipe. The baked goods are consistently excellent, and whenever they have a special, just order it. I've rarely been disappointed by anything they've made. I used to live nearby and honestly miss having this place around. Their pizzas deserve recognition too. They're some of my favorite bar style pizzas in the area. If you prefer an ultra thin pizza, you might lean toward Dipper Cafe, but it's hard to beat The Meatball Thing, the Thanksgiving pizza during the holidays, and many of their other specialty pies. The atmosphere adds even more to the experience. They have arcade style games you can play while you wait, and the music is always great. If you're into King Diamond or heavier music, you'll probably hear something you love. If you live nearby or are just passing through the area, don't skip The Nook. For me - and for everyone I've recommended it to - The Nook easily earns the title of best coffee shop in the area.

-ONE PARAGRAPH REVIEW-…read more The Nook has great coffee. The Nook has great food- not entrés but café stuff: sandwich rolls, focaccias, muffins, etc. The Nook has old school, retro vibes. It has rock music vibes. It has creative, inspirational vibes. It has quiet, read-a-book-in-the-nook vibes but also loud Donkey Kong-guitar riff-crunchin' vibes; depending on the time and the day. It's perhaps a tad too small inside, but that's what makes it a nook. Lots of hot and iced coffee options, food is quality over quantity: get their signature cheese or linguica roll as-is or "leveled up" to make it an egg sandwich because it's the best around. And their focaccias are made like a pizza and imo are better than their actual pizza! Ok that's a paragraph!

I asked for an opinion on what item to get and I felt like a burden. I also ordered a waffle and the response was kind of negative. It was 3, and they close at 4. I waited quite a bit for my stuff and any interaction with the staff was kind of negative and harsh. (I swear I'm super nice and friendly!) the waffle and coffee were both underwhelming. I almost changed my review from the previous 5 stars to 3 stars, but am going to hope this was just one poor experience. Not sure if I'll come back again yet or not. My only suggestion would be to serve it with a spoon so you can mix the cider into the Prosecco a little more. I ordered the Eggs Benedict Mozambique and it was really good. We also grabbed two coffees to go and tried the pumpkin fluff special. Both coffees were delicious and honestly didn't even need any added sweetener. The restaurant itself is really cute and has a cozy feel. Parking isn't the easiest, so just be prepared for that. The bathrooms were okay, but I'd give them about a 3/5. Our waitress was very attentive in the beginning, and I think she could tell we were there to catch up and weren't in any rush, which I appreciated. There's also some outdoor seating, which looked really cute on the cobblestone street. It was wet and a little too early for us to sit outside, but I could definitely see myself enjoying it another time. Overall, I'd definitely recommend Tia Mariah and will be back to try more of the menu!
