Starbucks is located on the upper floor of the mall, closer to the Best Buy entrance, between Pandora and Sunglasses Hut. The location is not very big, but it does have a seating area for around 10-12 guests. They also have their own public washroom. The baristas are very efficient and fast when making drinks. But I do see a lot of new faces almost every time i come, which could mean the turnover rate is high. The store is always kept very organized and is usually quite clean. When I come, I normally order their peach green tea lemonade, I find it very fruity and refreshing. Out of all the refreshers that i have tried, this would be my favourite. It is the only Starbucks in Markville Mall. I always order iced coffee or the Mango Dragonfruit beverage, which is still available in this location. The employees are young and try hard but it is easy to see them get flustered when the traffic gets heavy. The wait times can take a really long time just for a drink. With the heavy amount of traffic they need to prioritize. One time I saw one employee decide to refill the toilet paper in the washroom and just stood outside waiting for the customer inside to finish, instead of helping out with preparing drinks while her colleagues were struggling and falling behind on drink orders. read more

Horrible location. Why? They don't clean their coffee machine, they have horrible customer service, they don't really care about your experience. This is not a welcoming nor refreshing place to be. The worst part is the coffee, they have a really extremely bad habbit of not cleaning out their coffee machine properly or at all because the coffee here BURNS my mouth and my throat. No not because it's hot because I always get the cold brew or iced coffee, trust me I hate hot coffee. It has this horrible acidic burning in the back of my mouth. They bring their best to work to serve narcissist guests that give attitude about the most brain-wracking, minuscule details when the issue could easily be resolved with politeness. Being in this type of business myself, boy do I know it takes a lot of mental power and grit to come to work everyday to deal with jerks. The baristas here smile at and greet you first. They ask about your day, despite the insane line that wraps around to the Pandora beside them. I was at the Markville Mall Starbucks location today around 6:30pm and had THE WORST experience I've ever had at a Starbucks location. In fact, as a regular customer and avid Starbucks drinker, I've never had a bad experience with any Starbucks employee at any location before today. I went in with a friend after we had gotten some Christmas shopping done and ordered a simple croissant and iced green tea unsweetened. Super simple. The girl that took my order was very nice. However a woman named "Selena" was left to make my drink. She tossed the paper bag with the croissant in it haphazardly behind the ledge. I could see that there were different fluids and water spilled everywhere on this surface, which is understandable as that's the area in which they make a lot of their drinks. My croissant was in a paper bag, laying in a small puddle of water. I noticed this and politely asked her if that was my croissant and she replied "oh..yeah..".. and grabbed the bag to hand it to me. Then SHE HERSELF stated "oh the bag is really wet" as she nonchalantly handed it over. I politely asked if it would be possible for me to get it put in a new bag.. (basic things like not giving a customer a food item that is now in a soaked paper bag, because YOU left it in a puddle of old water near the sink should be common sense and should be the bare minimum, especially when we're in the middle of a global pandemic). Oh man, did Selena get upset when I asked her this. She ROLLED HER EYES and stomped over to get another bag..(she also took the liberty to stop & audibly express her displeasure at having to do this to another coworker on the way.) This was upsetting and me and my friend shared a surprised glance in regards to her behavior but we let it slide and continued to wait. She comes back, tosses the bag on the table where people pick up their mobile orders without so much as a word and walks away to finish making our drinks. She then comes back with a drink that looked NOTHING like an iced green tea. I took the cup and asked her if that was an unsweetened iced green tea. She snapped "YES, THAT'S WHAT YOU ORDERED RIGHT?!" Shocked at her tone, I replied, "Umm yes..but it doesn't look like it".. she continues to glare daggers at us.. I then asked "is that sweetened? Or did you perhaps add milk to it?" She responded "yes".. I then once again politely told her that I had asked for a simple unsweetened iced green tea and that this was not the correct drink. Oh man did that ever set her off. She rips the top off, chucks the drink in the sink and feverishly starts making a new one while now very, very obviously and audibly b**ching to her coworker and glaring at us. She then slammed my drink on the table and walked away to make my friends drink. We stood there in utter shock and disgust. My friend suggested we leave as she didn't even want her drink anymore at this point, but I insisted we wait as we had both already paid. To Selena, the barista who displayed this outrageous behavior today, if you read this - basic cleanliness & making a customers drink correctly are considered the absolute bare minimum of your job. I don't know if you're one of those people who just hates their jobs, or were just having a bad day but that kind of atrocious attitude (especially when it is completely unwarranted) is absolutely unacceptable. Starbucks employees are usually known for their top notch customer service. However, this employee couldn't be further from this standard. While no one expects to deal with a ball of sunshine every time they go in to a Starbucks location, they should certainly NEVER leave feeling the way we did today (especially with a soggy croissant and the wrong drink to boot). We will NEVER be returning to this location again. read more

I have been to this Starbucks twice. The first time was nearly a year ago. There were 14 people ahead of me in the lineup. This Starbucks location at Markville is fairly new. The mall has been sprucing up its stores, furniture, and more. It looks pretty nice. I went back there today after taking my Mac mini in for servicing. After spending 1.5 hours backing up my data before my Mac mini was restored from scratch, I needed my Starbucks fix. I ordered a tall, no whip, green tea soy frappuccino. I am borderline lactose-intolerant. As a waited for my beverage, a barista got my attention by yelling, "I know you! I used to work at another Starbucks location in Markham!" I looked at him. I only needed a couple of seconds to figure out that he was the friendly barista at Copper Creek that introduced me to those addictive Starbucks sugar cookies. He was always nice to me, which was no different than his conversation with me today. He could tell that I immediately recognized him. He also lives in Markham, but Markville is closest to his home. I told him that it was nice seeing him again. I had wondered what had happened to him. Mystery has been solved! Another barista gave me my frapp. It was accurately made. I was happy. I do recommend going to this location. I am lucky to be a regular. It's nice that one of my favourite baristas is there for me to stop by and say hi. This Starbucks has limited seating. However, the mall has so many benches and places to sit that you don't have to sit there. The wifi works well. It was nice to connect to it while waiting for my beverage to arrive, which did not take too long this second time. It helps to be there at 2 pm! read more

This store has full of happy people, who are just happy enough to always give me a beam of sunlight, but not overly happy it seems all too well trained from the employee training manual. Speed of service is one area of improvement, as I often see people stand in front of the ordering counter for a while. While the barista is shuffling some merchandise on the back shelf or doing something in the back room, while this other barista has to fill in, all while making drinks. Upside is that they always treat you genuinely, and I got s few suggested drinks that I would've otherwise never tried based out of my own idea. 5 high tables seating two each, and there's a total of 2 electric plug panels across these 5 tables. Even if it means a small lemonade stand on the side of the street. In this case, it's sbux. Now.. almost every time I come here, the line is absolutely out of control. Protruding out of the store, mixing with the line to enter pandora. I'm not about it. On boxing day and black friday.. kill me now. But other days, when it's only 4-5 people, I usually go for it and wait for my usual venti iced passiontea unsweetened. It quenches my thirst as I shop and makes sure I don't dehydrate looking at aritzia deals. #basic, it's true. The line moves pretty quickly and I've never had a barista mess up my drink here. The store has it's own bathroom, which is a plus. It also has a small area to sit in, which is also good, for a mall. The waiting area is usually congested and it's often difficult waiting, and then walking past the crowd again trying not to spill my drink. Baristas at most GTA starbucks are friendly but this one definitely has some of the most smiley baristas, which makes it notable. Anyway.. I enjoy it. Probably my least favourite Starbucks. I do like to browse through Markville and I pop in for a coffee from time to time. There is always a long lineup which I get since we are in a busy mall. But the lineup area is very tight and it's difficult for people to get by. The area is long and narrow. The seating area is insufficient for the number of people. They have annoyingly high barstools that are so uncomfortable to sit at. Plus, if you've been shopping and have bags, there is no room to put your stuff down. The cream and sugar counter is awkwardly small, too. So it doesn't help when you get those annoying people who fix up their coffee and then stand there in the way checking their phone messages and you just want to put some cream in your grande bold. My point is... in case you didn't catch it... the place is way too small. read more

As a regular Starbucks goer to many location, this one isn't the best. I do like the fact that the mall has one now, but there could be a little more effort from the baristas. I'm more of a grab and go sorta customer at Starbucks, so I am a big fan of either quickly ordering or getting a pick-up order. The baristas always make the drink correctly, but never really get to know me. I sometimes need to wait even longer to pick up an order I can see sitting there. May be a smarter choice to move their readied pick up drinks to the end of the bar, rather than behind the cash. The staff don't seem to pay much attention to what's happening in the store either, as I can walk in early in the morning, and no one seems to notice me... The line up usually seems hella long too when the mall is actually operational and in the thick of it, so I usually end up forgoing the wait as it doesn't seem worth it. In the end, a Starbucks is a Starbucks wherever you go. Just order and get on with it. read more

Starbucks in a mall that uses rope for lineups that go outside into the mall. No interior space for tables, sitting chatting etc. But they have tables outside away from the Starbucks. Always crowded but speedy service once you get to leave your order. They should open a secondary location as a standalone in the middle of the mall to service the overflow because the lineups are long during the weekend. Other than that it's your typical Starbucks in a mall. Needs more tables and chairs as it's no an ideal place to open up the laptop and finish that blog post so to speak. read more

Absolutely love this location. The team here is super friendly and they greet you every time. There's not a single time when I went in and no one said hi to me. I usually order the green tea latte on ice, shaken not stirred, with soy, and less ice. (I know.... I'm one of those but there's a really good reason for this which I'll explain another time). But now I usually get the mocha or Java chip frap. They never make my order wrong and I've never has a bad experience with them from the years that they've been here. My friend, JLo, and I came to Markville to get away from work for lunch. We are currently doing a 12 day detox cleanse but wanted caffeine badly. We are on day 3 of 12 BTW. We are not allowed to have dairy products or sugar and we were stumped on what to get. Jason was absolutely amazing! I explained to him what was going on and that we wanted caffeine to help us through our tough day at work. He recommended the Skinny Vanilla Latte with organic soy milk. I mentioned that the drink was clearly made incorrectly because the matcha wasn't even properly stirred in, there were clumps of matcha powder when sipping into it. It was absolutely disgusting. I asked for a new drink which the barista replied with "I don't see what's wrong with it" and she rudely took my drink and made a new one. And aggressively hand me the drink without a reply, unfortunately the second drink was just as disgusting and totally off again. This isn't your ordinary Starbucks. The staff is exceptionally nice and helpful. The staff make sure you have a customized feel! It's clean and usually very crowded since it's located in the mall. I've only had a bad experience here once and I can't blame them because it was but one get one holiday drinks so it was packed! Last time I was here the cashier told me that a guy named Oscar created a orange refresher that tasted just like fuzzy peaches! I was astonished and quickly changed my normal boring orange refresher order to the fuzzy peach one. It was delicious! I always pop in now for oscars creation. I ordered an ice black tea and use half and half instead of water, raspberry syrup, toffy syrup and classic syrup. The result was horrible! The half and half curds and the liquids separates with the rest of the ingredients! By the way, I've ordered this tonnes of times elsewhere and had amazing results. The drink I ordered is suppose to taste like Taro but this particular drink is sour and it barely tastes like taro! I do not recommend this store and try a different Starbucks location. read more
