My Xpost, as it should be seen imo…read more I was excited to try chubby dog coffee but unfortunately, I was shown some messages between the owner, Adam Rondeau, and a family member of mine that have deterred me from going, so much so that I have decided to actively refer others elsewhere. There are requests for feedback available on most platforms where people can leave comment on their experience and let others know of any issues encountered. For minor issues, businesses typically opt to rectify them so that customers that maybe didn't have a 5/5 experience might try again. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. The owner, Adam Rondeau, decided to personally text my family member about her review where she mentioned being incorrectly charged for an item and call her "insane" for saying so on a review instead of reaching out to him as the owner first. In my experience, I have never heard that personally reaching out to the business's owner for an issue when there are feedback options available, especially as a first step, is the "correct" way to handle an issue. You let the customers know it happened to you in a review, and you move on. Clearly, if you have a negative experience at chubby dog, your best bet is to keep your mouth shut about it or the owner might personally text you and make you the bad guy for their mistake. If you were concerned on how a review of a mistake that was made at your cafe would have impacted your business, you absolutely made a bad moral decision by trying to bully the complainant after the fact. Who does that? The market is over saturated in coffee here, go anywhere else. Even if you might have a less than stellar experience elsewhere at least you probably won't be contacted by an owner saying that you were wrong for complaining.

I prefer it to be made from Single Origin beans, from places like Africa that have bright flavor profiles. And I prefer a medium light roast that highlights the quality of the bean. Most places make their iced coffee from blends and medium dark or dark roast levels. Grounded Coffee Co is the rare CT coffee shop that made my iced coffee with an Ethiopian Single Origin roasted by Ilse. Ilse, a North Canaan, CT, was not on my radar. They are now. This was one of the best iced coffees I've had from a shop all year. And it matched my preferences. Grounded is small, but the shop was cute, had some inside seating, and seemed to have an outside seating area, although I did not go out back to see it. Service was friendly and helpful. Very impressed with this visit experience. Five Stars.

The help stood around talking after I ordered my pumpernickel bagel with scallion cream cheese and when she was good and ready {maybe 2 Minutes} she decided to toast my bagel but then she left and another person took over. The scallion cream cheese came out of a big tub and at $1.75 per serving which by the way was a very small amount, it should have been hand mixed with fresh scallion. The Bagel was run of the mill ordinary with very little flavor. There are a lot of better bagels on the market. I wish these young people well and my words of advise are not to worry about how much money you make because when you create something people want the profits will shock you. People don't mind paying higher prices for higher quality. I will try it again in a month or so and if nothing changed it will be my last. Again, I wish them Success !!!

One of my preferences that aligns nicely with New England tropes is that as it gets colder, the…read morebeverages that I crave get frostier. A former Russian professor of mine who grew up in Moscow said that people there frequent ice cream carts only during the dead of winter so our ilk is not that weird, okay? It was snowing yet again on the way out of my dentist's appointment and I had just got the tip from a friend to try Marylou's near the office for the specialty iced beverages. He had recommended The Girl Scout Cookie but I didn't see it on the menu. In a snap decision, I went for the "Frosty Minty Lou"...without consulting Yelp! Livin' on the edge there, y'all. I've found that if an establishment is willing to add their name when naming an item, it's something they usually stand by. And stand by the Frosty Minty Lou they should because it was delish. They had forgot to add the whipped cream on after asking me if I wanted any but I'll let that slide. I'm not someone who enjoys Frappuccinos/Dunkaccino type beverages usually but this was exactly what those should be like. It was perfectly sweet (clearly I like sweet stuff) with a perfect balance of mint and chocolate. It was decadent but with just the right amount of ice to actually taste the coffee amidst the sweetness. I have never slurped down one of those types of drinks so fast but I pretty much destroyed a medium Frosty Minty Lou in, like, 30 minutes. I wonder if I had some massive insulin spike after finishing my drink because I came home and took a nap immediately afterward. Likely a sugar crash. So I guess I'll avoid the frozen drinks if I need to be awake after drinking my coffee. With that said, this was so good that I see what other reviewers are saying about craving more Marylou's immediately after finishing one beverage from there because I immediately wanted more. I'm already plotting a trip back as soon as possible to try something less sugary in the hopes that I can find items I can drink on a more regular basis. Even if iced sugary stuff ends up being what I like there, it's so worth it to come back on a day when you want to treat yo'self at a chain that really adds some local flavor. If you have a day when you need a life pick-me-up, getting a Frosty Minty Lou at Marylou's is a perfect way with which to do it.
