I haven't been on it since we were all asked to work from home just before the pandemic's official declaration was made. However, being at the lowest tier on 407 ETR's rewards program, I get to drive a certain number of kilometres for free on Sundays. I decided to relive driving it. I got to Oakville earlier than I had expected. I needed a drink on a hot, sunny day. I did a quick search and found this Starbucks close by. I headed over there. This cafe is its own standalone building. I dig it. It's rare to find. It's either a part of a series of businesses, or is built into a Petro-Canada gas station. I spotted a drive-thru and decided to check it out. There was a single car in front of me. When I was my turn, I spoke to a man. I ordered my usual when it's summer, which is a grande iced peach green tea. It still bugs me that, by default, staff assume that you want it with lemonade. Um, no. If I had said lemonade, it would indicate that I want it. I got to the pickup window and spoke to a male barista. I had him scan my Starbucks barcode on my phone to pay for my drink. He then asked how I'd like to pay, holding a payment machine. I was confused. I asked him, "Didn't I just pay?" He had to check. I don't know what he did or did not do there, but he needed to rescan my barcode. Weird. I did get my drink. I thanked him, despite being weirded out by the double-scan oddness. I drank my iced peach green tea. It hit the spot. It was refreshing, cold, and perfect. If I'm back in this area, I'd drop by again. It has a patio with many folks enjoying it that day. Why don't I ever see you here? And the answer, I'm afraid says that I probably need to go to the gym more often. You see, this is where I get my "Drive Through" Starbucks experience. Maybe it's because I'm too lazy to get out of the car, maybe it's because I'm in a hurry, or maybe it's a little of both. However, this is certainly not because this place lacks the ambiance of other Starbucks locations in the area. This Starbucks compares well to other locations in Kitchener-Waterloo in terms of providing a tasty beverages, friendly service and a cozy environment, when I have taken time time to go inside. It's just that 'd just rather not get out of my vehicle to enjoy my Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate in the dead of winter. And that's the truth.

She asked whether I wanted the loaf heated up. I did. There wasn't a huge wait for my item. The drive-thru had Madeleines and ice cream sugar cookies displayed. I was tempted, but my willpower kicked in. There is a ton of construction happening in this area. This store is open. You just need to approach and leave the place slowly. I'd like to meet the designer who thought this would sit well a block away from a Starbucks and a Tim's, not to mention the dozen coffee shops inside Square One as it is. I would have never found this place were it not for the fact that I was attending a show nearby at the LAC and wanted a quick coffee and snack. I made my way over here and found the experience to be pleasant, though the rough edges are definitely showing. The first thing I noticed was the service. As others have said, the servers are a bit aloof but cordial. I ordered an Orange Spice tea and a slice of banana loaf, and one of them wished me goodbye and seemed to be expecting me to leave the counter while the other woman was getting my food. The right hand doesn't know what the left is doing, but the service is decent enough. I was surprised by the amount of seating tucked away in the place (you definitely can't see it all from outside), but the padded seats I perched on were fraying and had definitely seen better days. Couple that with the existing power outlet problem (did no one bother to rewire/renovate when they opened this place? Did no one expect that?), and you can see why this place only has a middle-of-the-road rating. That said, the tea's solid (can't really screw that up) and the loaf was fine. Years ago I started drinking Starbucks with the cold frap when I was just a high schooler-having chilled cold coffee in the fridge was awesome for a someone who had just discovered the addiction to caffeine.Later I become a fan of their Caramel Macchiato and Pumpkin Spice latte in the fall but soon this phase become history as I started to pay more attention toward calories than taste and now I happily settle with the dark roast with a splash of milk! I love the idea that Starbucks has kept up with the changing customer needs..I love their lunch box meals and sandwiches and one of my favs there is the tomato pesto and mozzarella sandwich.The cake pops are a hit with the kids, my daughter absolutely adores them and I on my cheat day can totally gobble the birthday cake cake pop in less than 30 seconds! The baristas are friendly and quick in service, something I have always noticed at mostly all Starbucks locations .In fact they are the only baristas who know what a ZARF is.Their bathrooms are clean and well stocked. The baristas are quick to make my orders even though I order through the app to save time, my drinks are ready when I arrive. I've stopped here on at least two occasions, and it was perfect. The bathrooms have been clean when I've visited, which is always a plus. On my last visit, a particularly stormy, snowy, harrowing drive of a day, I needed to stop here as a place to get a cup of tea, use the rest room, and regroup before making the last leg of the journey back to Western NY. I was greeted by a particularly friendly young barista who made conversation and made me feel like I was important. As goofy as that may sound, it was nice. The bonus was that my students could go to subway and get their fave sub because it was so close. Win-win for all of us I guess! This location fits about around 70 inside +outside so it's good for groups. It's basic but has everything and you'll get a seat. Recommended for parents, groups and working.
