The only Starbucks in Derby city centre (surprisingly) is a fairly modern (yet pretty dark) branch in the intu Derby shopping centre, it is a large location with plenty of seating including a long table which is brighter and better for working.
This is probably the first time I've ever been to a Starbucks and the prices listed on the back were MORE EXPENSIVE than the price charged, my drink was originally priced at £3.90 and I was willing to pay it only down to it being one of the few coffee shops in the mall which wasn't Costa and I had time to kill before my train back to Sheffield. This would have been £0.25 more than normal, however, I was charged my usual price of £3.75 which had a further £0.25 knocked off as a reusable cup discount.
The staff seemed friendly enough and my drink was okay, it was a little too milky however and the espresso wasn't as strong which was a shame. My order was my usual Venti Iced Vanilla Bean Macchiato.
The selection of food was pretty poor, sadly they didn't have any of the gluten-free paninis which is a real shame which means they had no gluten-free food offerings, especially after the brownie was discontinued a while ago now.
Still a pretty decent store, I do feel they need to make the pricing on the board accurately reflect the lower level they actually charge to avoid confusion and improving the lighting in the middle part of the store and food selection is also a must. 3* read more
