This branch of Costa Coffee is in the heart of the East Midlands Designer Outlet. A popular destination for shoppers, as it opens before many of the other stores. There is outside space for anyone brave enough to brace the December weather and a sizeable space inside, with tables to suit all party sizes, from couples to larger family groups. Large mirrors and artwork adorn the walls, as well as seasonal fare at this time of year. It is always busy, but somehow never feels cramped and is a good escape from the hustle and bustle of the shops. We managed to get a table at lunchtime today, surprising given the close proximity to Christmas, choosing a BLT from the sandwich selection, that also included toasties and seasonal Turkey and Cranberry Wraps. Cakes wise, too many to choose from, the salted caramel Yule Log looked tempting, as did the Mince Tart, but we opted for the Tiffin and the Belgian Caramel Slice, both very tasty. Drinks wise, all the classics in three sizes, slightly inflated prices because of the outlet location, but not too bad. The staff were unflappable and friendly, the coffee and tea stereotypically good, whilst the Brownie Hot Chocolate had an interesting flavour, pleasant enough, but not sure I would sample it again. On the whole a pleasant break from Christmas shopping, the BLT was a little dry though, and where the trademark tomato was, we weren't sure. read more
