Halloumi, portobello mushroom in a nice brioche with home cooked Rosemary fries, simply wonderful and for less than 8 pounds. We walked up Sadler Gate and looked a few menus on the way. We decided to stop and look at the menu at The Kitchen which had sandwiches, panini, burgers and salads. We stepped inside to a busy and buzzing cafe with solid wood tables and a huge cake counter. A waitress smiled and showed us to a table. I ordered a ham, cheese & caramelised onion panini which came with a handful of fries and a pot of tea. My partner had a Gourmet Angus Burger with chips and salad and a Diet Coke. Our drinks came promptly, my tea came in a pot for one with a cute bottle of milk like something out of Alice in Wonderland. Coke was in a glass bottle. We had a little wait for our food but it does state on the menu that there may be a wait for food on a Saturday due to being very busy. The table were full and people were constantly coming and going. Staff were very attentive and friendly. I was tempted by the cakes but resisted. There was a sigh saying all cakes are made by the boss on the premises. While we were sat there a person I assume is the boss came out with fresh cakes to replenish the empty spaces. I will have to go back for a pot of tea and a cake. We were not disappointed when our food came. My panini was yummy and my partners burger looked and I was told it tasted good. Gee's is one of those places, you can rely on a good meal with a decent amount of fillings too, not like some other places that give you 6 pieces of grated cheese and one ring of onion! This week I've been on a bit of a Jacket Potato cheese and beans binge and I'm happy with how it's been from Gee's only once out of 4 times has it been below par and that was just a new person serving I think and they were a bit stingy with the beans! Good friendly atmosphere in there and the cakes look great. It's all very reasonably priced and has that great cob shop/eat in smell! I'll be going here for a while yet!

Not a cheap night out but excellent for a romantic evening or fun night out. Higgs is in the centre of town and you cannot park directly near it but there are a couple of car parks within 5 minutes walk. Make sure you book in advance for Fiday and Saturday nights.

The food is excellent and you do not have to wait an age after placing an order before it arrives at your table. Higgs is well located within the city centre, but now has much more competition since the new Westfield has introduced numerous big name coffee shop brands. Having a coffee in Higgs however enables you to avoid the hustle and bustle of the shopping area of Westfield.
