Hey now. I don't typically review chains, but I also don't like seeing what I consider to be harsh treatment. And this Starbucks, in my experience, is pretty darn good. It's a nice looking building, and the interior looks clean and bright and modern. OK, yes, it's right by Sox Park, so I'm guessing that there are times that this shop gets overrun with tons of people looking for a Soy Latte Char Polish (ok, maybe not quite exactly that). But, all I can say is: I found it on Yelp, found parking outside and it wasn't expensive for 10-15 minutes. They got my order right. We ordered a few different things, including my espresso drink, and some breakfast sandwiches. The staff was patient, and got the order right, and things tasted the way they were supposed to. So, why in the world does this place average 2.5 stars here? I dunno. But, I say, that this SB's is much better than that. read more

This is not a review on the establishment it's self but more so a review on the Manager, Tina's communication and unnecessary My daughter has always told me her dream first job is Starbucks. As soon as she turned 16 she went to this particular location because it is right down the street from where we live. We spoke to one of the workers who told us ghat they definitely needed help and the manager was looking to hire people. She told my daughter fill out the app online and to call the next day around 12 to speak to the manager Trina. My daughter dis just that but was told that Trina was in a meeting and to call back the next day. She nervously called again and spoke to Trina just to let her know that she filled out the application and she told her that she would be calling people for interviews next week. My daughter waited until Friday and called just to see if Trina was still interviewing, she told her yes and to to call back next week. My daughter really wanted to land her first job here. It was a straight shot from school and she definitely had open availability on the weekends so even though she was starting to get a little discouraged she didn't give up. She called back next week hoping to at least get a chance to interview because despite her lack of work history she is a hardworking, motivated honor roll student just looking for someone to give her a chance. When she spoke to Trina she rudely told her to call back next week (again). Now I am not a bitter parent writing a 1 review because the company chose not to hire my child. This 1star review is solely based on the fact that for Trina to be in the managerial position that she is in I would expect her to encourage the youth today, especially the ones that want to actually work and not communicate so rudely with someone that is only trying to show determination in securing their first job. Giving off irritated energy is unnecessary and only discourages first time employment seekers who we should want to uplift and see win. So my advice to Trina is to be a little more professional to your applicants regardless if you see potential in them as pod's employees or not. This has to be the worst Starbucks of all locations. I ordered a coffee via the app. Said it would be ready in 8 minutes. I arrive and wait patiently. After about 10 minutes still waiting. A customer walks in, orders and gets his drink before me. What is the purpose of ordering ahead?! Besides the Greektown location, this is my other favorite when it comes to studying! When I'm on campus, I love coming here to get work down before or after my classes while sipping on a drink. The chairs and booths are super comfy and there are an abundance of outlets, which is great considering my old computer dies whenever it gets unplugged! I ordered a blueberry oatmeal in the morning and went straight to work only to find my blueberries were moldy and soggy. I never even opened the package and returned the next day to show them. I even returned with the bag so they could see the date I came in. I thought it would've been an easy refund, but as I was talking to the cashier another lady interrupted and asked about the expiration date. I love the new layout of this location, but the quality of the Staff diminished. It takes too long to get the drinks now, there is so much confusion with the orders and when they make a mistake they don't take ownership of the mistake. You'll get something like "be patient, we're busy or well we have a lot of orders that you don't see, or the food always comes faster than the coffee" Just excuses. I even heard one of the staff tell a woman who was getting frustrated that her mobile order was taking 20mins "my manager's card is right there if you have a problem" instead of trying to get her order to her!! I am really disappointed in the quality of this location now. Before the renovations, they had a kick ass staff. The staff now are rude, lazy and just do not care. They put drinks down on the counter without saying what it is, or calling a name, so people are picking up drinks trying to figure out if it is theirs. You might as well not even put in a mobile order, it's actually quicker to just order at the register and wait. I've had an issue where they put another woman's label on my drink and we both had to figure out that they were switched. When we asked the barista to be sure, she said "oh yeah, I mixed the labels up, whatever!" I only come here because it's right across the street from my job. I hate this location now because it's constantly a toss up of whether your order will be correct or not. It's really a shame. Starbucks, you're my savior. This place is right in between my school and Sox Park, which means they've got me covered at all times. I love it! We regularly go on "Starbucks runs" at work and they've always got our caffeine fix. Sometimes you just can't drink teacher lounge coffee, you know? This location is pretty spacious and I've always been able to find street parking right outside. Free Wifi (with your Sbux card) and plenty of seating in case you want to come in and do work. I think they're starting to get to know all of us because some of the employees have memorized my drink order. I love it! I don't know what I would do if this Starbucks wasn't in the area. It is quite unfortunate a Fortune 500 company cannot find the proper resources to update information regarding store changes made in 2014. The store employees say the changes to their hours of operation have been in effect for almost a year yet the website, Google, Yelp, etc. all state incorrect hours. Starbucks is a place where people study, conduct business & schedule meetings based on hours of operation- they make & schedule plans using this accessible information in advance, as we did. We scheduled a meeting, picked this Starbucks location based on the location of everyone involved and once we got everyone there, we were told they were closing @ 9pm, although every resource we checked says 5:00am - 10:00pm. It sounds great to have new hours on one window facing the State street side of the building. That doesn't really help someone entering from the 35th street side of the building since the hours aren't also on the main entrance doors. I would rather have given my business to someplace else or at least to another location had I been able to plan in advance- to my disappointment I was not given that opportunity, just like many other customers who were walking in @ 8:45 & 9pm. read more

Ummm, this location kinda sucks now. It's never been my go to, but it's convenient before getting on the highway when I'm in the area. Mobile orders take waaaaaay long here and I made the mistake of ordering in store the last time. I wanted to take advantage of the buy one holiday drink, get one free special that was going on and since it wasn't my usual order I wanted to ask first to see if they were actually any good (they're not). Free is cool but I want to enjoy my caffeine. The guy at the register was nice so I proceeded with my order. He had a little trouble putting it in at first but no bigger. We had friendly conversation.... HOWEVER, 15-20 minutes later and no, I'm not exaggerating, I still don't have my drinks. There was a crowd waiting when I ordered but they cleared out within 5 mins so what was the hold up on my drink? The baristas were making drinks or so I thought but no orders were added to the mobile order pick up area or delivered to me. I was the only person waiting at this point. When I ask, they are polite and say it's coming right up. The young guy at the registered realized I was still waiting and even looked a bit surprised. So I hear them talking about how they're out of xyz ingredients already (it was early evening) and grumbling about how the rest of the night was supposed to go. Then they start searching for skim milk. My order has skim milk. SMH this is painful. So my order comes but it's just one drink, not two. They look at each other then pull up the receipt and say the order was rung up at 5:01p and the special was until 5p. I smile because it's now 5:20p. Yeaaaahhhh well, which problem shall we address first? The fumbling at the register that delayed the order processing, the lack of skim milk, or the fact that I'm still here 20 minutes later?? In different occasions, I have experienced very slow service (many times) and closed during business hours after I paid money for the meter.
