Restaurant review: This is the only starbucks that I know of in town... The parking lot is horrendous and super small. While waiting for my wife to get our drinks, I watched as another car pulled in sideswiped the side of another car back up and move to another parking space. DO NOT PARK HERE. I wrote down the license plate and reported it to the police. It looks like the plate was a defunct springfield car dealership and they could not track down the car. On top of that when the police came to interview the person whose car was struck they lied to the officer and said that the back which they had damaged themselves was the area of damage. I guess karma came around. Service is so so speed compared to Chicago starbucks. If I come again I will have to go through the drive through. No way am I parking here. Pro: starbucks!, free wifi Cons: super small parking lot, slow service Hidden gem: Sign up for a starbucks gift card and load it on your phone to earn stars for free drinks. Once you reach gold, free drink after every 12 purchases. You can also use special coupons that they email to you for BOGO or 50% off

Venti Vanilla Bean Creme! All time favorite

Out of the 3 locations in Champaign/Urbana that I know of, this is probably my 2nd favorite (1st being the location inside Barnes & Noble). The inside is small but accommodating if you stay in. I personally only go through the drive thru at this location in particular. The parking lot is ridiculously tiny. As I was going through the drive thru, a woman was trying to back right into my car trying to force her way out! I couldn't believe it!! I was clearly directly behind her. She still tried backing up and tried making several 3 point turns if you will to turn around and get out. She still had to wait until the line in drive thru became shorter because there was another car next to hers where she parked so she was boxed in. The drive thru was extremely slow but I appreciated that the menu had plenty of items unlike the one on S Neil St.

Dirty and messy, their worktop is even worse

dirty and slow! I ordered on Starbucks app and it actually should be ready when I arrived at the store but my coffee was never ready in 10 minutes!

Definitely would not recommend this location. Mid-day Saturday and the drive thru took 20 minutes to get 2 drinks

The main reason is the general location. I am not a resident of Danville, so I am not in Northern Danville ever. Instead, I travel along Highway 74 quite a bit so not only is this location a bit out of the way, there is a bigger and more accessible location right off said highway. Another difference is the general size of this Mad Goat location. Compared to the one on South Gilbert St, this one is part of a strip mall and is a much smaller, intimate space. It serves the purpose of being a nice place to pull out your laptop to do work, but I would much rather get the ambiance and vibe of the other location in Danville. Additionally, I feel the South Gilbert location is more upkept and cleaner than this location. If you are passing through, I would suggest visiting the other location, as it is definitely more glamorous and accessible. Moving away from the physical traits of this coffee shop, everything that they serve here is the same as the other locations. Their drinks still rock and I would recommend the usual London Fog, Matcha drinks, smoothies, etc. I've even ordered an acai bowl here and it was very refreshing. You won't go wrong with this location, I just think the other one on the South side of town has this one beat!

We got a couple of croissants and a canele, and we each ordered an espresso drink. It was everything she promised - and more. The croissant was flaky and buttery. The canele had the signature caramelized exterior and soft inside. I intended to only have a bite and save the rest for later, but I couldn't resist finishing it. Would definitely come back on my next visit. In the meantime, I'll just have to ask my friend to bring pastries to me when she visits!

The service was quick and friendly, the barista described the options available and had good recommendations! Good study space with WiFi, bathrooms, and a water fountain around the corner. Just be prepared to wear a jacket on either end of the cafe near the doors, can get windy upon opening! Thai Tea Caramel Canelé {5/5}: The best canelé I've ever had (okay, I admit, I've only had maybe 6 in my life). Great caramel and good Thai tea flavor. The texture was AMAZING with a nice slight crisp and chewy outside and almost custard-like inside. I got 2 more before I left Green Onion Kouign-Amann {4/5}: A caramel shell outside of this very flakey pastry that I had plenty of green onions mixed within the dough. It was a great play on sweet and salty flavors with delicious flakey layers Jade Cloud {3/5}: Peach oolong tea with matcha cold foam. Just a personal preference thing, but the flavor combination of peach, oolong, and matcha was not my favorite. I can see how someone who likes this flavor profile would find this drink refreshing!

I was in Champaign early and needed to kill some time and what better way to do that than Hang out at Mad Goat! I am a basic coffee dude and just drink regular coffee and it was very good as per usual. The staff were very friendly and it has an awesome over all vibe! I paid to park across the street and then realized they do have some of their own free parking so note to self for next time! that one was on me! I am spoiled in Danville because they also have their Royal Donut brand donuts but didn't have them at this location but I saw just yesterday that Royal Donut will soon be expanding to the Champaign Urbana area so I am only going to assume it's only a matter of time until they have them at this location. FYI the Blueberry cobbler donut is amazing!!! 2 thumbs up to MAD GOAT!

Even the menu had original coffee recipes dedicated to each of the Harry Potter houses. I'm not sure if this coffee shop was originally Harry Potter-themed or if it was only for a limited time, but the first thing I noticed when we walked in was how cute and cool all of the decor was. Service-wise, the baristas were personable and so fun. I wouldn't shut up about how cool the shop was, and they appreciated it and asked where we were from and what made us stop in their small town. We talked for a while, and I ended up ordering The Chocolate Frog under the Ravenclaw house. I got my drink fast and the barista told me to crack my cup when I was ready to drink it because of the crackling chocolate on the cup. When I was served my drink, they didn't put the lid on it because customers do it themselves in case they want to put anything extra inside. However, my husband and I both tried to put a lid on the drink and couldn't get it, so we had to ask one of the baristas to do it. She explained a trick she uses to easily get them on, and we were on our way. Seriously, such nice people working here! The latte was absolutely to die for. It was smooth, flavorful, and absolutely amazing, so it makes me very sad that I won't be able to have it again for a long time, if ever again. They need to open this place by me in Chicago or the suburbs!
