Due to the construction on I57-I74 and a rainstorm I got lost in Champaign so I was able to get instructions from one of the baristas on how to find the entrance to I74 east at this Starbucks and ordered an iced tea too. Prospect is very close to one of the entrance exit ramps to 74. Concerning the parking, I parked close to it and walked over to the site. WIth many Starbucks they seem to establish the building and parking on a small-sized lot which is true here. A very good Starbucks! read more

Restaurant review: This is the only starbucks that I know of in town... The parking lot is horrendous and super small. While waiting for my wife to get our drinks, I watched as another car pulled in sideswiped the side of another car back up and move to another parking space. DO NOT PARK HERE. I wrote down the license plate and reported it to the police. It looks like the plate was a defunct springfield car dealership and they could not track down the car. On top of that when the police came to interview the person whose car was struck they lied to the officer and said that the back which they had damaged themselves was the area of damage. Because of so many bad experiences at other Starbucks, I always go to this one, even though it's a farther drive for me. It's 100% worth it. 98% of the time, they get my drinks right, and the other 2% of the time, if they happen to be wrong, they always replace the drinks for me. The service is so nice, I really can't ask for more. They are always kind to me, even though my order is larger a majority of the time. I'm so happy that this Starbucks exists, because the other ones have awful service, whether it's rudeness, getting the drinks wrong, or just straight up closing when they feel like it (so they have unpredictable hours). I ordered a cold brew yesterday and it wasn't made right. I called the restaurant and they said I could come back the next time I'm in the area for a remake. So I did today. The girl that took my order at drive thru, didn't believe me. But she told me to pull up to the window. Then the night supervisor came to talk to me. I asked her name and she took her name tag off and said that's private. The barista did the same. Supervisor said I was harassing them by asking for their names. I said then why wear name tags? I told her I was going to report her and she said something under her breath. So I called her a choice word and pulled away. Out of the 3 locations in Champaign/Urbana that I know of, this is probably my 2nd favorite (1st being the location inside Barnes & Noble). The inside is small but accommodating if you stay in. I personally only go through the drive thru at this location in particular. The parking lot is ridiculously tiny. As I was going through the drive thru, a woman was trying to back right into my car trying to force her way out! I couldn't believe it!! I was clearly directly behind her. She still tried backing up and tried making several 3 point turns if you will to turn around and get out. She still had to wait until the line in drive thru became shorter because there was another car next to hers where she parked so she was boxed in. This is a good Starbucks with great service. The only thing is that the location of the parking lot really sucks. If there are a lot of cars, consider yourself stuck there. I usually park on the gravel on the side. It's very congested. I've tried working in the Starbucks and it can just be very noisy and crowded. While I don't mind noise, this is a heavy traffic area so it can be a little overwhelming. Nice employees but the atmosphere is crazyyyy. read more

The Starbucks on prospect is always fast and friendly, I have never had any issue going there with their drinks or their food. I recommend there spinach feta wrap, it is delicious. Their parking lot can be a challenge as there is only one way in and out and it is rather narrow with the added challenge of the drive-thru exiting in the same place. They picked a horrible spot to put their dumpster as it makes this a 3 way blind corner. So drive careful and try not to take a giant truck in there to park, you will have a tough time of it. read more

This seems kind of silly to review Starbucks, but I just have to because I'm so impressed with this particular location. The employees are SO nice here! Coming back home for a visit from Chicago, where there's a Starbucks on every corner, and hit-or-miss service at them all, it's such a breathe of fresh air to visit this Starbucks and have that small town charm combined with the Starbucks products we all know and love. It was a nice start to the morning to chat with a friendly barista while sipping my delicious blonde roast with sugar free vanilla... Can't beat it! And because I can't tell enough people (too bad there's no incentive for recruiting people) I have to advise: if you go to Starbucks a lot, join the rewards program! You pay using a gift card (or Starbucks app for iPhone) that's registered online to your account, and for every 10 drinks you buy, you get a free one. They load it right on your card, and you can order as big and elaborate of a drink (or get food) as you want. It's totally worth it for sbux regulars! read more

Normally I have had a great experience at the drive thru at this location. The people that work there have been super nice. And even given complimentary things if anything goes wrong. I come to Starbucks because of their customer service. That is what they known for. But the guy who is working at the drive thru counter today was super rude! He didn't even let me finish me completing my order and I kept waiting from him to respond thru the speaker. When I didn't hear him I pulled up to the window. And I saw him there and told him I wasn't finished with my order. And he basically rudely told me I was too slow in ordering and he wasn't around waiting anymore. This is terrible customer service!! But never the less I finished ordering my drink. And he asked me if I wanted whip cream on my drink. And I said no I didn't. So then again he rudely told me that next time I need to specify if I want it or not! I am not sure who this guy is. But I have been ordering at Starbucks longer than he has been working there, I am sure of it! Not only was he totally rude, but yes I forgot to specify whip cream, but that has never been a problem before as I m usually asked if I want it or not. And some drinks have whip cream and some don't. So depending on what I am ordering it can be implied no whip cream. But that is besides the point, the fact that he had to ask me that should not be such a big deal. But he was rude about the whole process and never apologized for it. He is trying to tell someone that gets a Starbucks drink pretty much 5-6 times a week for the last 11 years how to order a drink. This is my third and final time that I will be going to this Starbucks. My first two experiences in the drive thru took 20-25 minutes each time. This time I decided to treat myself to a coffee before work, and the drive thru experience itself was pleasant, which is why I gave it two stars. The cashier was helpful and polite, and my wait time was only about 10-15 minutes this time. However, as I tip my coffee back in eager anticipation to indulge in my favorite caffeinated drink, nothing comes out. Confused, I tip it back about halfway and finally get a drink that is lukewarm and half empty. This is extremely disappointing as I ordered a venti and received a grande in a venti cup. I worked for this particular Starbucks during the summer of 2012, so I might be a little biased with my opinions here, please keep that in mind. The manager has always stressed keeping a clean and presentable store lobby, and the current baristas, as well as those I worked with in 2012, have always been very quick and efficient at making quality drinks. I have been visiting the drive-thru at times this summer (2014), without letting the current partners know that I previously worked for the store and their manager (Brandon), and the quality of service/drinks I have received has been phenomenal compared to most of my experiences at other Starbucks locations. The store is a bit out of the way, unless you are in or around the North Prospect area, but if you are looking for a good place to study or get some work done while guzzling down some caffeine, I suggest heading here above almost all other coffee shops in Champaign/Urbana. read more

Oooh Starbucks... how I love thee! It is so strange for this Seattle girl to not have coffee readily available on every corner be it Starbucks or a small stand. So this store gets stars just for being here for me in my new city! The rest of the stars are for the service. Each time I've been there the people working have been friendly and fast. The store is clean and comfy. The first time I went in some rude customers came in and yelled at one of the baristas, she handled them with such grace and kindness, I was very impressed. I have visited this Starbucks regularly for years and must compliment this staff for their friendliness. Usually everything is great - Occasionally have received the wrong order and have been compensated with a complimentary drink. At times I have wondered if the app system of ordering ahead is broken, at least during busy periods - a couple of times I have had to wait 10 to even 20 minutes after arriving to receive my order, or in one case I received my order 10 minutes after my husband's! This amounted to nearly a full half hour after I placed the order! It seems when they are really busy only one person is assigned to taking care of the order-ahead folks and it could be quicker to stand in line or use the drive-through. I have compensated by anticipating when they might be busiest and then ordering at least 15 minutes ahead - this usually works and my coffee has still been hot. read more

Slowest service of any Starbucks I've been through for drive-through and in-store... Barista's have zero sense of urgency and this is an obvious annoyance written on the face of the customers.. Once you are in the drive through line there Is no escape, so be prepared for a 20 to 25 minute wait. Location is as poor as it could possibly be at the North end of Prospect, so just getting to this Starbucks requires driving through seven levels of hell and 243 stop lights. If you are looking for an alternative on Prospect, Einstein Bagels is much much more accessible, affordable and even a higher quality coffee. read more

Starbucks, I really do like you because the coffee is dark & intense. But this location is hit or miss. It's perpetually crowded. My drinks are slightly incorrect about a third of the time. There's almost always a line. Parking is cramped & the lot is definitely full on weekends. Flies inside the shop keep landing on me & my drinks.
