Cozy space and lots of seats, but I always have to wait forever for my drink. There were at least multiple times where I had to wait like 20+ mins for a drink since there was only one worker. I can't really blame them because it can get busy at times, but waiting like 30 mins for a tiny little drink is insane. I swear the service used to be much faster so it might have just been the days I chose to go. They have a great bathroom, though. I was shocked at how nice it was.

The location isn't great as it's tucked away in a pretty empty plaza. Even the ambiance upon entering doesn't give off the impression that the coffee will be THAT good but I'm here to tell you it is! I got the Iced Spanish Latte which was sweet and creamy and the espresso was so balanced and didn't get lost in the condensed milk. We also tried a Pourover and I like that you can choose any beans they offer! We went with the Loco Series Lychee Pop and it was outstanding. I'm a big fan of lychee and rose, both flavors are very palpable and even the aroma/color of the pourover were proof that it would be good. We ended up buying a bag of the whole beans. They're some of the best beans I've ever had. The barista is not only hilarious but definitely knows what he's doing!

What brought me to Tin Roof Cafe in Erin was my son's baseball game against the local team. With time to kill and bellies to fill before first pitch, we stopped by Tin Roof Cafe. It looked like the most promising spot in town, and we were fortunate to squeeze in an hour there before their daily 6 p.m. closing time. My son ordered the Tin Roof BLT, and everything about it tasted incredibly fresh. I especially appreciated that they used locally baked bread instead of the typical store-bought variety. (If you're wondering, they also offer a regular BLT--but you won't get the turkey, avocado, or chipotle mayo that make the Tin Roof version so special.) It was a delicious sandwich from start to finish. For myself, I ordered the Nutellaccino. It was surprisingly good. The Nutella added a nutty richness to the coffee without making it crazily sweet. We also ordered a peanut butter brownie to go. Since my son was eating his sandwich first, the staff kindly offered to keep the brownie in the fridge until we were ready to leave. However, since we still had some time to kill and of course a sweet tooth, so we ended up eating the brownie before we left. The brownie was so...good. You could tell it was homemade, and even the peanut butter was homemade. The only disappointment was that I visited during the summer. Otherwise, I definitely would have tried one of their soups, which unfortunately aren't available during the warmer months. I love coffee shops with personality, and Tin Roof Cafe has plenty of it. As an ex-barista, I'm fussy--I hate spending money and not getting a quality product. Unfortunately, the coffee was a swing and a miss. I ordered one iced latte and one hot latte. In both drinks, the espresso was burnt. I actually watched the barista pulling the shots, and I could tell immediately. To make matters worse, the hot drink was barely a latte; it was essentially a cappuccino based on the absurd amount of foam on top. Plus, the milk itself was ruined. There's a certain temperature and texture for steaming milk, and this was clearly burnt milk that had been frothed way too aggressively. Aesthetically, the café is lovely--it's cute and a great spot to work from home. My recommendation? Skip the espresso drinks. Maybe try the matcha or a pastry instead. Price is slightly more expensive to independent coffee shops and fast food coffee. I have gotten a matcha soft serve ice cream, a matcha drink and 2 cold latte drinks (Spanish & Kyoto). Every thing tasted was pretty bold. When I finish the matcha drink, there was a bit of unmixed matcha at the bottom of the cup. For the matcha taste, it is a lot more bitter and will be different from other places' matcha drinks because I think the matcha is directly from Japan.
