done with Starbucks. The dumbest thing I've ever been told there. my stars are expiring. I went to order a mint citrus tea. It clearly states that hot brewed tea is 100 stars. Then they argued with me that because they use lemonade it's considered handcrafted and doesn't count. I said fine I just want the hot water and tea bag. They still refused saying that is considered handcrafted as well, but I could do regular or chamomile. What is the difference between one bag of tea into hot water from the other? What a rip off. I dig this Bucks a lot, I used to go here and work when I lived in Ames! I like how clean it's always been kept and I like the characters they hire to work there! Always super friendly and nice! On my most recent visit, to change a diaper and get a brew, things were just how they used to be. Good Coffee, friendly staff, clean bathrooms and changing table! the Parking lot is nice and the drive through moves fast! All and all this is a good Starbucks that opened years ago, but has been kept up nicely and still feels new! Good stuff! read more

I can without a doubt say I am a DIE HARD Starbucks fan! I especially like downtown locations, as I'm an urban city kind of guy. This Starbucks opened in late August 2015, It features the Starbucks Reserve Clover machine and extremely easy access for ISU students! It also has multi stall restrooms (for the men's room, at least, but I'm certain there is for the women's as well...), and that is a rarity at a Starbucks, even in true urban cores like Chicago and NYC. The Starbucks experience is consistent here, and the only drawback I can pinpoint about this particular location is that it doesn't have enough power outlets. The seating along the walls is scarce as well. There is a plentiful-sized community table in the center of the patron area, but there are no power outlets to be found. I can imagine a study group coming here, but with no power source for laptops and/or mobile devices, it can be a big turnoff. If Starbucks corporate is reading this, I think it would be a good idea to install some power strips. Also a few tips: There is no Drive-Thru, so you must go inside. And if you plan to come to this particular location, and aren't traveling by foot or bus, please make sure to carry some change with you, as vehicular parking is metered. It is 25c per hour (very reasonable!), and there is parking out front, if you're lucky, otherwise you'll walk a block, but that's not too bad. Was passing through Ames on my way back home and went here today, had a craving for it since it had been a rough last couple of days, ordered a vanilla sweet cream cold brew, a puppy latte, and a cheese Danish. Got the cold brew, the latte, and for some reason a water...no danish, by the time I realized I didn't have it I was long gone. The lady at the window was super nice, but the fact that I spent the $$ on the danish and didn't get it is not great. read more

This Starbucks was built as part of the Campus Town renewal project. It's a smart looking space just across the street from the Union. Coffee is good, as is all the other stuff you'd expect from Starbucks. The extra plus is that they're open reasonably early on Sunday Morning and they carry the Sunday New York Times. read more

First, I would like to say I am a very technology biased person and a dude who traveled to drink coffee. It is amazing that a small town of Iowa got an actual Starbucks. It us super close to the campus and it is fairly big. When you enter the café, you will see a set of chairs outside of the café. There are about 4-6 tables if my memory serves. However, I highly recommend going inside if you do not like cars driving by you and you get to inhale CO2 Gas. The interior of the café is elegant. On your right, there is a small "basic-white-girl" corner where people can sit down and relax and take artsy pictures. On your left, there is a "bar" seat where there are NO electrical plug-ins. How dare they. They know that this is a college town. This has to be a joke. Also, let me tell you something if you are from the Silicon Valley. They do not have Starbucks Wireless Charging station. #HeartBreak Being one of the coolest feature of Starbucks, I miss it a lot. Bathrooms are pretty clean (at least for men). It has a Dyson hand dryer that DOES NOT WORK (yet). So, hopefully they fix the issue right away. Now, on to the actual coffee. Starbucks is famous for their coffee. It's a mascot and it's alright. I would give it a 6/10 (because it's average) However, I love the baristas. They are very nice and friendly people! :) read more

Great place and great barista they even pointed out that there are power strip built into the under side of the community table and window counter that have regular outlets and USB outlets and the bench in the nook has power as well. Love the pink drink! read more

We arrived at Starbucks this morning at 7:15 to grab coffee and breakfast before hitting the road. When we arrived there was someone sitting outside- not unusual in campus town... but as we walked up, she jumped to her feet, another girl walked up, they unlocked the door went in and slammed and locked it in our faces. The store opens at 7, so we were not early. No "sorry, give us a minute we are running late" no explanation or apology at all. We waited a few minutes and when it became evident they weren't opening we left and went to the real Starbucks in the east side of town- the one that always opens on time and has fabulous service. read more

I go to this location regularly and the staff is very friendly and helpful (Kiva, especially). I've been a Starbucks addict for over 15 years, so I go numerous times a week. My drink is almost always perfect and delicious. The only con about this location is parking. There are very few spots on the street in front, so if you're not walking from campus, you may have to park a distance and walk. They're metered spots too, so you have to pay to park often. read more

Guy behind counter literally rubs his hand in his nose 4 times while taking my order! So gross! Then handles sandwich and beverages. My stomach now hurts thinking about how many people he is serving and touching their food items and containers after his nose runs. I can't eat this food. My drink was all ice to the point I can't even get my straw in it. I get the drink is going to be a little more expensive here, but then put some liquid in the glass. I was hopeful that I could use the straw because it was covered in paper, but can't get in to glass. I will pursue other options nearby. read more

This was by far the worst Starbucks I've ever ordered from. It took 20 minutes to get our 3 drinks and two of them had to be sent back because the barista miss read the orders. My daughters iced matcha had huge chunks of the powder not mixed in well. read more

I came in yesterday while visiting a friend. I work at a Starbucks in the Iowa City area and I know how overwhelming stores close to campus and with no drive-thru can be for the staff but they were very friendly and had my friend and I's order out in less than 2 minutes, despite being really busy. I'll definitely stop back next time I'm in the area. read more

Workers need to pay more attention to their work. Friendly is a really great part of Starbucks but playing with co-worker behind the counter is not okay. Especially the moment when you spill customer's drink and laugh about it is a big NO NO. Ordered Double Chocolaty Chip but it taste pretty much like drinking water!! Don't know if they really do missing something in my drink or they are actually taste this bad at this store. The one by Target is a whole lot better! read more
