The Easter Sunday brunch was phenomena! A much needed change from the serve yourself buffets. Having the food delivered to the table with an explanation from the server, was a hit with our seven guests. Food was excellent. We were impressed that there was not a limit to the amount of food a person wanted and it was brought to the table immediately. The only thing we would ask, is to have salt and pepper on the table. We went to the "tea party" in the sky but that was the stupidest thing ever. The tea was barely warm. The food sucked. I have been to way better tea parties! I will NEVER ever recommend this place! Super fun cafe with a European vibe. Came here with a private party and we had a blast. I definitely would recommend a pomegranate lemonade. The meal started with greek salad and was delicious. Our main course was a chicken parm risotto. I loved it but others found it very heavy. Our servers were attentive but not overbearing. Would definitely recommend! read more

i ordered a matcha and it came out hot when i asked for ice, she changed it to iced and it didn't have any match power and it was filled 1/4ths way with vanilla syrup. i am not picky but i literally can't drink this and i just wasted 7 dollars on this. the lady running the register is genuinely one of the most idiotic employees ive ever met. read more

A small group of us went to Easter Brunch and were very disappointed. Nothing was hot or even warm. For the money charged was outrageous for what we received, quality and amount of food, and service. It was also disappointing to see the emptied boxes of some things we had spread around on the ground in garbage piles in the parking garage. Nothing was homemade. We have no interest in going back again for a while. read more

One of the best restaurants in Ames, I'm telling you the vibes are great with a great view of the city while eating alongside comfortable ambiance. If you aren't dining in, it is a great place to get work done or just to get a treat for surviving the end of the week. read more

Went for a themed brunch. The decor for the theme was not impressive. Patrons put more time into the theme than the table decor. The tray of sweets was pretty but none of them were home baked. They charged $36 a person for reservation only brunch. They then charged extra for coffee, tea, hot cocoa etc. Brunch was a plate of sweets, cold cuts and sliced cheese and some sausage, meat balls and potatoes of which they gave you two small bits. Clouds just opened this past week, but I expect them to receive more popularity the longer they're around. The environment within clouds consists of a two-floor surreal oasis. There is a large variety of creative seating, and the combination of cafe and restaurant gives this place versatility. I feel that this is unlike any other place in ames. The desserts were great, but the pricing of the coffee drinks for what they are was a little high. According to the owner, the rest of the menu is slowly being released for the next couple weeks, which brings excitement of what they are planning to offer. If still available, I strongly recommend the Apple Tuile Mousse. Great concept of a French dessert. Looking forward to seeing them continue to learn and establish a presence here. read more

I had heard a lot about this new place in Ames so I decided I should check it out. I went there with a friend just to get coffee so I cannot speak for the food. First, the atmosphere and the views are fantastic, by far the best in Ames. The lower level has a nice more formal feel while the top tier is a great place to hang out and have some coffee with a great view. The coffee is expensive and it is honestly pretty average, I was expecting a little bit more from the price. Overall though this is a really nice place to hang out with a great atmosphere, just wish they had a little bit better coffee at the price they are charging. Definitely check it out! read more

Special treat for my visit to Ankeny,brunch, theme was "Emily in Paris"... we did our best to planning our outfits and dressing for the event, so fun, that said the ambience was fantastic and fun. Parisian music, little French beret on the waitresses, table decor very cute. There was an up charge for all drinks which was fine. We had a great time, I'm going to be blunt here the food was so lacking, (not in quantity but quantity was lacking, you can judge ....the buffet consisted of a cheese tray, Swiss cheese slices, cheddar cheese slices, Kobe Jack and cheddar cubes, with a very American small round crackers, best part for me skewer with tiny mozzarella and cherry tomato. Disappointing when you think of all the wonderful cheeses the French are known for and of course baguettes, I much would've preferred a few slices of a baguette with a small amount of brie or wow there's so many I don't know. Seems just something more French and maybe a a spoon full of different preserves, jelly, and a plain croissant, so you could put it together yourself much as the Europeans do for breakfast, I found the white bread triangles with some form of cheese and meat lacking, I would've rather had a nice board and do away with the sandwiches completely. We both did very much enjoy the yogurt and presentation of that as well as the little cake in the small jar, the three tiered serving Dish was a Spectacular way to serve the food again. It was lacking flavor all being prepackaged or as in the case of the croissant ice cold filled with butter and jelly. All in all we had a great day because of our company and the fun of dressing for the event the sad part from the restaurant standpoint we will never return to an event there. This event needed the food to be something special to bring us back. I think the other surprising part is the man that did the French and brought it out, was born in France while we don't claim to be any kind of experts on Europe or the French culture I think in this day and age it's pretty common to know about croissants baguettes a few cheeses and jams fruit also comes to mind. Took over an hour to get our food, apparently the cook forgot it in the oven. The food also does not meet expectations for taste. The serving sizes are ridiculously small for the price. The only thing it has going for it is the scenery and set up it looks and feels nice and comfortable. But the food was not that good I stand on my rating. We attended the champagne tasting and except for being a bit pricy, it was fantastic. The owner is so knowledgeable and we learned a lot. The atmosphere is great and it was an intimate setting to visit with our party. We didn't feel rushed and the "bites" that went along with the tasting were enjoyable. The customer service was on point! The owner is also in the hospitality program at ISU. Food and drinks were amazing. Ambience very cozy and comfortable. I loved the hanging egg chairs and mega plush wingbacks. The decor is luxury but inviting. And of course, the view . I would give Clouds Ames a 10 out of 10. read more

It was not Kenough! Went to Barbie Brunch on 11/5/23. We got one miniature egg bite, one piece of sausage and one new potato, for $40. Each item was served separately (cold) and set on our plate as they walked by. I'm embarrassed for the owners of this business. Do not ever go to this restaurant! read more

I love the atmosphere. Great view & great lounging. Would be a cool place to grab drinks late at night. The coffee wasn't great. I ordered a Vanilla Latte w/ almond milk and I could barely taste the vanilla and the milk wasn't steamed well. I definitely want to go back but not for coffee though. read more

Very interesting set up for coffee shop. They come to every table even the lounge chairs to take your order. In the lounge some space is available to eat and study but more or less coffee and study small spaces. Looking over ISU is the best feature! Gorgeous look outside. Staff is very friendly and welcoming. Too bad it's in campus to pull all the college kids to! Hours are crazy it took us for separate trips to finally make it. I love how spacious it is and the service is amazing! On top of all of that you get a great view of the Iowa State campus. Definitely a place to stop by and stay for awhile. This coffee shop is one of a kind and I have never seen anything like it. Ames has a lot of staple places to visit, from Hickory park to Iowa states campus! Clouds is currently open for dine-in and has enough space to be properly social distanced, and all staff had proper face coverings, so the environment made us feel safe and we still got to enjoy the views! I got a plain black coffee, with cream on the side, and we also got the small bruschetta. The bruschetta was excellent! We especially loved the piper that the balsamic vinegar came in. I prefer a stronger coffee. You will pay more for a cup of coffee here than elsewhere, but you really do pay for the coziness, and the views too! read more

Such a cute place. The European cuisine in so so good and it is a much different vibe than every other restaurant in Ames, which I love! Highly recommend going for their Valentine's Day dinner! A recently opened coffee shop in Ames that shows amazing potential. The decore is laid out giving it a very comfortable atmosphere. Getting coffee here felt like getting coffee in a private plane with the amazing views of campus. I would recommend clouds for anyone getting coffee with friends, looking for a place to study, or even a fun date location. read more

Nice view of campus. Very comfortable couches and hanging chairs (all the furniture is from Ikea). Great study environment, we ith nice ambient lighting. Service was pretty good. Drinks are good, although they have no hot chocolate. read more

The view is pretty nice and the music is at a tolerable volume. The food was extremely underwhelming. The "quiche" was a thin film of eggs over pie crust with Romain lettuce and oil on the side. Price was also an issue with the quiche, with each bite costing about $1.5. The coffee was lukewarm and didn't have much flavor in it, but was pretty good. I hope Clouds can improve in the future as there is a lot of opportunity with this location. read more
