Let me break down my experience in one simple way. Let down. I am, however, giving it three stars based on the fact that my family and friends have had it and they love it. So I decided to go give it a try with my wife and kids on our way out of town. We were gonna get a few different items to take with us on a family day trip. We arrived around 9:30am. Bad timing maybe, but they were out. Out of everything!! This could be something as simple as a "rookie" mistake. I agree with a lot of these other reviews. I've been getting señorita bread from Starbread for at least five years now at multiple locations. I recently discovered there was one in Vacaville; had no idea. I have come by multiple times in the morning only to be disappointed time after time. The girl in the morning is extremely rude, and it's obvious she has no customer service skills at all. Yesterday was the last time I will ever come here. Not only was she rude but she gave me a box of 15, that was obviously just thrown in the box haphazardly, but cold and stale. I will have to go out of my way now, either to Vallejo, Fairfield, or even Sacramento to get the quality and service that I'm used to. I stopped by the elk Grove store today and the bread was the best I've ever had in over five years. My understanding is these are all family-owned, just different parts of the family. There needs to be some quality control. This girl's attitude in Vacaville is Beyond inappropriate, and the product quality is horrible. It's a shame, I live in Vacaville and have to go out of my way if I want to get the famous star bread. Update December 26, 2016. I thought I would try it one more time. Nothing positive to report. I just bought a box of 15. I tried a few on the way home, and as before, they were cold, stale, and soggy, like they've been sitting out. The rest of the box is going in the trash. Good bread. The bag that I picked up said $4 dollars but the lady gave it to me for $3. I think they have fresh ones but I didn't ask. The ones I picked up were a little hard but they were still delicious. I'm so glad to have a star bread bakery close to me but my waistline doesn't like it. My daughter takes ballet lessons just across the parking lot from Starbread, so we decided to check it out last weekend after seeing the rave reviews on the one in Fairfield. Since we had never tried the infamous señorita bread, the young lady working that day gave us a free sample to try. My 3-year-old daughter gobbled it down, even biting my finger a bit as I was feeding her a piece I had torn off. Ha! The señorita bread reminds me of the sweet rolls with honey butter you get at Texas Roadhouse...my husband agreed. Kind of like a donut but less sweet. The prices are great and everything is very fresh. We ended up taking home 3 cream cheese-filled señorita breads and 10 of the original flavor for $6.50. They also had apple, Nutella, pineapple, and mango flavors that day. They offer other breads, pastries, and savory items such as empanadas and lumpia....not a huge selection, but it seems all people really care about is the señorita bread. I'm actually not a huge fan of it (don't kill me...I don't like donuts either), but my husband and daughter love it. I mean it's definitely good for what it is, just not my thing. But I'm sure we will be back next weekend after dance class to try something else they offer. The bakery itself is quite plain and unattractive really...not very inviting...with stacks of boxes and sharpie-written labels describing the baked goods. I went in the store looking for their signature Senorita Bread and was very surprised to see no one operating the store for a full 7 minutes. I waited looking around until someone else came in and they finally came out and took her order first! I patiently waited and chose not to address the issue, only to order the bread and discover it was ICE COLD! I went back and tried to explain the situation to the young woman (possibly teen) and she explained it is made in the morning so it will not be hot in the afternoon... WT everloving H???? Its is a small no frills type of place where you go in get what you need and leave. I usually come in early so haven't encountered any crowds and the service is friendly enough though I haven't tried anything else but it all looks so good! I love the other locations and I came during the week and the girl was very nice and helpful but I came back on a Saturday and the lady was very rude didn't have amy of the normal options (at least that's what she told me) and she was very rude and short. Seniorita bread quality is inconsistent. One day we'll get a really good batch and the next day they'll be stiff, cold and stale. Tried their hot dog and cheese thing, and 2/3 times it was stale, hot dog was cold and bread was super hard. Tried the beef empanada and the beef was crusty and dry, never again. Customer service is lacking. No greetings, just what do you want to buy and this is how much it costs. I only get the seniorita bread now, and I check the quality before I leave the store. Yup, I open the box right in front and poke the breads before I leave. It has come to that. So sad. read more

I miss this place so much. There's nothing like the Senorita bread. Warm, sweet, soft, buttery morsels of dough that I often crave. I'm not sure if it's a Filipino thing or just a Starbread speciality, but I haven't been able to find it anywhere else outside the SF bay or Sacramento area. Grabbed a box of 60 seniorita bread 6am yesterday, although I was hesitant about the quality control after reading all the disappointing reviews. I could tell that the top layer was not as glazed and not as buttery as the middle/lower layers but they still tasted soft, sweet, and freakin yummy. They were all gone by lunch time; coworkers loved them and asked multiple times throughout the day where I got them and what they're called. If it's Friday and you want to start the weekend off right in your home-away-from-home, grab a box and make sure the coffee pot in the break room gets topped off or there's kcups reserved in that box/tray/spinning carousel etc...ok Mr/Ms popular! This was by far my WORST experience. The girl was EXTREMELY rude, and the star bread was cold and hard.
