Qui bates renters into properties that are ran down, then charges them for past renters damage they already charged for. I've rented 2 houses from him, both were more dirty when I moved in. I paid for cleaning, etc on my way out and he tried to charge me. He didn't run my credit for my last house so he could charge me for all the damage that existed before I moved in. read more

I am a little suprised by the first review from Kristina R. as I have NEVER had an issue getting anything fixed by Star Rentals. I have rented from them for about 2 years now and while I am ending my tenancy next month it has nothing to do with them. The 1st time I had a problem with something being broken it was my faucet. The handle broke off and it was right before Thanksgiving. I went to Home Depot and bought a brand new one and had a friend fix it but only because T.G was the very next day. After the holiday I called Star Rentals and talked to Monica Espinoza, let her know the situation and she said to attach the recipt to my rent check and deduct the amount from the rent. The 2nd time, my air went out when Vacaville was experiancing the WORST heat wave. I sent an e-mail to them through thier website and got a call the very next day and within 3 days my air was fixed. It only took the 3 days because they had to call the owner to find out what they wanted to do to repair it and then send out a tech. Qui (sp?) is awesome and one of the nicest people there, so is Monica. As a matter of fact once during my tenancy I accidently wrote them a check from the wrong account and it bounced. They called to let me know and I brought them a cashiers check the very next day and while I was responsible for the fees, they did not even charge me the $150.00 fee that contractually they could have. So while I'm not invalidating someone elses experiance, I can honestly say that I have had nothing but EXCELLENT customer service from the staff at Start Rentals. read more

This was our first experience renting, as we have always owned our own home and we were very nervous to say the least. We rented for one year and must say that Qui was attentive/prompt to deal with any issues that arose. Upon moving out he was fair with the final inspection of the house. PLEASE DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE! WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!! I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. After submitting my application, my family and I found a home to rent else where. I then told Monica we were not interested anymore and confirmed with her that we were not going to go through with their company YET she STILL ran my credit (a hard credit check which affected my score) and also deposited our application fee which was promised to be refunded but of course that never happened! Star rentals is a profitable business, but lacks communication skills. As an owner, I was pleased that she was able to keep my home rented consistently to good tenants at a decent price (this also has to do with the fact that it was a desirable house in a desirable location). However, while I expected that the company would repair things then let me know, I would often only discover that "you needed a new fence" or "you needed[!] a sprinkler system" that one of her other companies would then install without bothering to notify the owner, when money was taken out of the rent without asking (I would have preferred to have some of these things done by other people, and am questioning now the "emergency" nature of many of the charges). Buyer (owner) beware. They will spend your money on their own services, and not inform you of important oversights. They are very difficult to reach on the phone once you have signed a contract with them as well, and since I lived out of state this was important to me. I had to leave many messages to speak to anybody, and then every time it was a different person who seemed to be unfamiliar with my property/situation. Monica is the only unchanging employee (as the owner), and her manner is brusque at best. read more

Easy breezy move in no complaints. Move out- 150 for carpet cleaning. 235 or something like that for a cleaning fee. Wasn't done cleaning when they did the walk through but we ran out of time. Even if we had finished cleaning it wouldn't be up to there expectations so if you rent with them I recommend not cleaning and just let them take the money at the end for a cleaning fee. I wasted a lot of time with a magic eraser and cleaning base boards when it didn't matter in the end. Blinds were old and dusty when we moved in but we were told that was part of what needed to be clean. Along work normal wear and tear of the house. They go by pictures and are very nit picky. Qui is great just goes by the book. One of the lady's there is bad, can't remember her name. But anyways there are pros and cons to every situation. When you rent from a mom and pop you tend to fix things yourself and send them the bill and always get your deposit back. Rental companies are more strict and have a lot more rules so just be prepared read more

This business is horrible! They are not there when you make an appointment and are very rude when you call. They steer you to rent elsewhere when you callback about them not being there for the appointment time which was set up. When I called the boss Monica she was nice at first until I told her how her staff treated my family and I. Its obvious she doesn't care how her staff treats people because she wasn't even aware of the situation and told me her staff would never do that. I had spoke to her for the first time and she didn't even look into the situation, she basically called me a liar. I work in property management and this property violates fair housing laws like crazy, even steering you to rent else where before even running your credit or showing the place. They refuse to work with you in any way! Monica the boss also insisted and accused me of already writing a yelp and I told her it was not me and she said I was lying and that I did, if she would of bothered to look on yelp she would of seen it was a tenant and not me. They always have our interest in mind, they are attentive to detail and they make almost everything worry free; just what you want from a property manager. While managing our property, they always keep us informed to what we need to know about, and keep us out of the details that we do not want to care about. While I never had too much problem getting them to fix anything they dinged my deposit so bad I am serioulsy considering sicking my lawyer on them. When I moved in the place was a catastrophe. I own my own cleaning business so I offered to clean it and Sally offered me a break on the rent for it. I never got the break in rent, when I moved out I had me and my crew clean the place and then had two other cleaning services walk through with me. The only thing I did not do was clean out the fireplace. They dinged me for damagages and cleaning! almost 800 dollars worth of cleaning and repairs! I dont recommend a rental company that uses dishonest cleaning services or repairmen. read more

Monica was able to get our house rented and we had the same client for the past three and a half years. I am extremely disappointed with Star Rentals management. I pay my rent on time every month and I am a good tenant. When something needs to be repaired they are always deflecting and trying to make it my responsibility. They do not want to up keep the property and follow through on what was agreed to when I signed my lease. I have never in my life had such a horrible experience with a property management company. So far so good with this rental company. Yet have a 24 hour text service where if something is wrong you text Qui. He got back to me within 30 mins and had contacted a plumber for our shower, a pest guy for the bugs in the garage, and a handyman to fix the garage door opener. They call you so it's convenient for me to make a time that fits my schedule. The staff has been friendly and helpful so far. We have a move in inspection next will so I will review in a few weeks after we see how that goes. read more

Star Rentals is terrible when it comes to abiding by the contract they have you sign. When it comes to repairs they are pretty useless. They put you off for months hoping you will make the repair yourself and save them money and even when they finally get around to making the repair they don't do it right and you often have to call them again to make the same repair which pleases them to no end. They do not follow any laws unless it is to their benefit. If you are a owner trusting your property to Star Rentals you are making a very costly mistake. They will not take care of your property and will often charge you for "emergency repairs" which aren't really emergencys just so they can use their own repair people. The office staff with the excepton of Qui is gruff and unprofessional as is the owner of this company. Save yourself the time and go with a reputable company if you must rent, you will be treated with common courtesy and like a human being. read more

I've debated whether or not to do this review. But I had a terrible experience with Star Rentals. I was the owner of the home,Star was the Property Mngt.This was about 2011 or so. The 1st rental family was terrible, when they vacated I had to re-carpet the family room, paint most of the interior, & main bathroom. I had a plummer come by to fix the drain in bathroom sink, he said it had over 15 q-tips in the pipe, hence, the slow drain. I'd requested & waited & waited for the refund back on the original deposit & Monica said most of it was given back to the renters. Really?? The carpet was so bad (it was new when the renters moved in) from dog urine, I had a carpet cleaner come in & do a special cleaning to rid the smell, I told Monica I paid out of pocket for this, & she said when she did have the carpet cleaned & was no smell. I ended up having to replace the carpe at over $1,000. The urine smell couldn't be resolved. I asked to be re-imbursed from the deposit but that's when she said she gave them back most of the money. Monica said she forgot to re-imburse me. Another incident, was that the renters didn't take care of a very nice yard, My husband & I made an appt on a Friday to come & do yard work on cleaning up the yard, while we were there their daughter came out & said she called her Mom & we were supposed to be there on a Saturday. Apparently a miss-understanding, The renter then calls Monica & said that the car was so dirty from us doing yard work, even scratched up. What a lie, there was some grass on the driveway which we swept up, The car was already dirty. Then to top things off, then I had to go to Monica to request 2 weeks worth of rent that they owed due to moving out mid-month. The lasts months rent was not fully paid to us.. ALSO what was paid there was a deduction for the renter to have her car detaied. Renters claimed we had dirtied the exterior so bad it had to be professional cleaned. I told Monica, this is total B.S. It was already dirty, blah blah blah. I have no good things to say about Star Rentals, calls weren't returned, many times.It was a horrible nightmare, read more
