Also, completely unorganized and disconnected from her roster. During the six months I was with her, she continually sent me auditions for "Fluent spanish speakers", despite the fact that I do not speak Spanish and never claimed to. After having a 30 minute conversation to get her to stop- after she threatened to drop me for not doing the auditions - she agreed that the mistake was on her end and said it would stop. It did, for two weeks before starting again. Then she starts sending me auditions for PROFESSIONAL level competitive tennis players, despite the fact that I don't play tennis. All the while sending threatening messages in bold, uppercase letters with every audition to "DO YOUR AUDITIONS OR WE WILL DROP YOU!", despite the fact that, duh we're actors and we literally hired her to get us auditions so clearly we're going to do them unless it's something we literally can't do - ie, speak a foreign language fluently. Horrible communication skills, lying about her capabilities, threatening, unhinged, unprofessional responses to even the most basic questions - ie Would you prefer a check or Zelle transfer- I'm not even kidding. Overall: Avoid The Brogan Agency like the plague. Shawn Brogan doesn't have access to the type of auditions that can advance a persons career, she's abusive, mentally unstable, deceitful, and she's somehow been at this for 20 years and yet she's still considered a "Lower tier" agent/agency so the prospects for growth are not great and the auditions she gets reflect that. Long Version: I signed with this agency when I first moved to LA, and initially, I received a decent number of auditions. However, as time went on, I started to see the uglier side of Shawn. To put it bluntly, she was difficult to work with. Whenever I emailed with questions, her responses were rude and insulting, often completely unrelated to what I asked. If I kept her updated on auditions, she would get upset and accuse me of "annoying" her, even though she had explicitly asked to be kept in the loop. On the Brogan Agency's Facebook group, her posts were consistently condescending and often ended with the threatening message, "WE WILL DROP YOU!!!" if we didn't update our photos, confirm auditions, etc. Every email and post from her was in ALL CAPS all of her sentences ending in exclamation marks making everything feel harsh and aggressive. The only bright spots in my experience were her assistants, who were much kinder, more communicative, and professional than she was. At the time, being new to the industry, I tolerated it. But over time, I realized that her behavior was disrespectful, toxic, and not normal. It felt like I was always walking on eggshells. Eventually, I made the decision to leave and found a much better agent who treats me with respect and works collaboratively. If it weren't for the auditions I received and the support of her assistants, I would've rated this agency 1 star. I only wish I had trusted my instincts and walked away sooner. Please, take your time and do thorough research before signing with any agent. I was new and eager, so I signed with the first agent I found. But in hindsight, finding the right agent who treats you well is far more important than rushing into anything. Fortunately, I did not went through her verbal abuse as some of the other reviewers had faced, but I did learn to recognize the red flags to watch out for in an agency. Anytime I have questions or concerns, they don't hesitate to respond quickly and I love that they take the time to send group emails with all sorts of information, from workshops we can sign up for to discussion about important topics related to auditioning, keeping our profiles current, etc. Although I am a veteran, I wish I had an agent that took the time to break down the way things work when I first started so I know the roster of newbies at KIT are not only getting opportunities they otherwise wouldn't have access to, they're getting an agent who wants to educate them to ensure they succeed. For the in general, I don't know the agency too well but they have been very nice in regards to event requests for celebrities when friends charities have asked them to forward requests. On a personal note - previously I worked with Steve at another agency circa 1994-95. Steve is an excellent agent, and I have seen him work late into the night putting submissions together if there are actors he has that fit the part, instead of shlocking off early like other agents I've work with, and have observed do. He had a good career before this in the hospitality business but gave it up (even though at the time it meant a cut in income) because he has a passion for "the biz." Some of his clients have stayed, even though their fame could land them at a higher up the rung/ladder agency because of his caring.
