It was a very short walk from my grandfather's and my apartment complex (Broadway Square) I have many great memories from this park and to know it's still there is just amazing.. might just go there one day to watch this generation of hoopers getting their street ball knowledge up!

I mean, the area used to be nice, but times has change and so does the people. I would tell you a few things that needs to be fixed about this park, but what good would that do? I guess it may help clear my mind of a few things: Number one: This park grass isn't sparkly green, it has brown patches and it has ant hills on it. Number two: The paths are old and rocky, so sometimes when it rains it floods the path and the grass..so good luck with walking around the waters in your shoes. Number three: now number three is pretty intense and if you are a dog lover or pet lover what I am about to say may upset you greatly, BUT number three: People are prone to dumping dead-ran over dogs here. My sister and I came here to walk my dog, Pocky and right there in the open we saw a decomposing dog just laying there beyond dead. I tell you what--it was so bad that I couldn't even see that dog eyes..it was too graphic for me. OH and Number four: The parking lot has a big pothole as you are driving in..you may run right into it and it is deep. All is well all is well..I hope! Now, I am not sure if anybody else cares for what I saw. The only people that seemed to take notice was my sister and I. I am so glad my dog, Pocky didn't see it. Anyways, the good of this park is that it is closer to my house. It has a big long path to walk the dog or yourself. It has a tennis court, a giant basketball court, an okay soccer field, it is residential, and lots of parking. Locals park on the street and there is also additional parking. If you have use the restroom, there is a fairly large one stall port-a-potty near the trash cans.

There's also a dog park they've been renovating that I believe is just about finished. There are tennis and basketball courts as well and a nice little pavilion area where they have free summer music on Friday nights. It's a nice park if you live nearby and there's ample parking.

One thing I'm failing to understand is just because a breed of dog is small, why make the section for them tiny?! I mean, they need space and room to run, play, jump, and socialize too! The larger breed dog park is huge--it's about at estimate a parking lot size whereas the smaller dog park is at estimate two guest bedrooms combined together. Now, the larger dog park had jumping activities, several benches to sit, and enough space. Though, the smaller dog park had one table with shade--two ladies crowded the table. Two filthy buckets of water with brown dirt caked on the bottom. It had dead flies laying in the water--plus it probably had all kinds of saliva from sick and healthy dogs. It was pretty gross. In both small and large dog parks, it wasn't no doggie poop bags. They were stone cold out! I had to give this lady two bags of what I bought. The park was pathetic. It was strange because it was workers there in the park and its not like they seemed to care about what the park lacked. I guess they were there for the money only. Also, back in 2012 when my sister and I came out with Pocky and his sister the larger dog park had a hole in the fence. My two babies got out of the gate onto incoming traffic. I'm not sure if they fixed that or not, but that was a huge issue. Now, the event Paws in the Park was pretty ok. They had a lot of vendors selling things: dog clothing, accessories, nail trims, dog rescue groups, doggie pool, and lots of dogs. The event is free with free parking. That's the nice. However. the park is crap. It was bare-minimum--not a great park at all.

Out of all the different pickleball places in Houston, this is the pickleball spot that I call "home." I always give new pickleball spots a chance and check them out for fun, but HPC is my favorite as far as how nice the facility is and how good the competition is here. I've only been playing pickleball consistently for about 5 months now, but HPC is a big reason I've improved so quickly. Whether you're a beginner or an advanced player, HPC can accommodate all skill levels. I generally come here for open play on Tues, Wed, and Thurs from around 630pm - 11pm when they close, you're guaranteed some great games for sure. I also appreciate that if you want a private court, peak time price is around $35/hr. You'll get a discount if you're a member or go at a non peak time as well. Thanks HPC for maintaining such a great pickleball community, I'll be back regularly for sure!

The team made the entire process seamless from the initial planning stages all the way through the day of the event. A special thank you to Vivian at the front desk, who was amazing to work with, as well as coaches Ricardo and Mathew for refereeing our games and keeping everything running smoothly. They truly went above and beyond to make sure everyone had a great time. In a time where it can be difficult to find businesses that genuinely value their customers and prioritize service, Houston Pickleball Center absolutely stands out. The owner even surprised me with some merchandise which I thought was a thoughtful gesture that wasn't expected but very much appreciated. We had a blast, and the party was an overall success. I can't say enough great things about this place and highly recommend it for anyone looking to host an event or just have a great time playing pickleball. Vinay Eapen
