I wish I could give more stara. My nails were beautifully done and I since I don't go often, soo rare in fact, I was actually educated on the differences, prices, and overall health of my nails. The staff at star nails was just so wonderful. During my session I got sick out of no where and they moved me to a seat closer to the AC, engaged with me, gave me mints to calm my stomach and just overall wow. I will 100% go back because this service was beyond just getting my nails done. This staff who's what makes people willing to come back, spend a lot of money, and actually enjoy some me time. My go to salon was in East Meadow for several years but after covid the prices increased as their quality of service decreased. This prompted me to explore my options and of course I took to Yelp and found star nails which had a good number of positive reviews. I made an appointment for Saturday for myself and my husband. The salon is located in a small strip mall across from Carman Ave Veterinarian hospital. The parking lot is on the small side so I can see parking being an issue at time. The appearance of the salon is pretty basic like most salons in the area. Upon entering we were greeted by the owner and she was very friendly and welcoming. We were directed to the pedicure area in the rear of the salon. The massage chairs were in good condition and all the surfaces and floors appeared to be well maintained and clean. We opted for the classic spa pedicure which was nice, the technicians were meticulous and efficient. We had the standard manicure my husband had his nails buffed instead of polished and they did very nice job. The owner did my manicure and she was engaging not overbearing like some of the other salons I had frequented in the past. 5 stars isn't enough! I have been going to Star Nails since 2017, and I never intend on going anywhere else. Star Nails is easily the best nail salon on Long Island. Sophia (the owner) and her team of nail technicians all have unrivaled talent. They are patient, meticulous, and are very artistic. They also truly care about their customers. Sophia always warmly greets me with a "hi there, Valerie!" and engages in long conversations with me, asking about events going on in my life. The whole staff is sweet and kindhearted. I also appreciate that I never have felt pressured to pay for something I don't want. The first time I went there, I explained to them I don't want to come in often because I have a heavy, unpredictable work schedule. So they recommended I get the power gel manicure because it is durable and looks great for a long time. I get my nails done on average only once a month and they look great for all of that time! Finally, Star Nails is extremely clean, and they still enforce a mask-wearing policy. As someone who works in healthcare, I appreciate their efforts to keep their customers safe. They recently started offering Sunday appts and that's my day off, plus I'm new to the area and need to find a new salon. I saw reviews and called. Very nice, courteous and informative staff. They cater to each customer's individual nail needs and are beyond personable when you are sitting in one of their chairs. Sophia, the owner, maintains such cleanliness throughout your appointment and now especially with COVID protocols, she keeps the salon even more in compliance with safety protocols. My mom and I went here today and this has now become our new nail salon! We had an 11:30 appointment for a pedicure. I had overheard one of the workers calling a woman because she forgot about her appointment and then told her that they take their appointments seriously, which was a plus in my book because most places don't take appointments seriously and you end up waiting for an appointment you made. So if you're looking for a place where you can just walk in and get your nails done, this may not be the place because you'll end up waiting a long time. They even tell the workers the appointment they're in charge of ahead of time and let them know if anything changed with their appointment. First my mom and I got a pedicure and it was great! I had told them I had an open wound on my foot and they were very accommodating to me by asking me what was good to do on that foot, which is a plus in my book. They did such a good job on my toenails and they gave an awesome foot massage. Also the cream they use makes your skin feel so soft. When they were done my mom and I were drying our toenails, we loved it so much we asked if they had time for a manicure which they said yes. The manicure was amazing and they did such a good job with that too that when I went to work (I work in retail), after my shift my nails lasted! All the other nail places I've visited, if I went to work, my manicure would've chipped and/or been ruined right then and there. After we left, one of the workers was getting pizza next door and saw us in our car and waved goodbye to us which showed me that they care about their customers. Was thinking of things to do while the wife and daughter were getting mani-pedis so as a shy guy, felt that the safest bet was a foot spa. I've had spas in Vegas, China, Philippines, boat cruises, and surprisingly, this was one of the best ones I ever had. It was also the most affordable one too. It wasn't crowded as I showed up around closing time. The chairs were brand new, large, and had very good massage features. The girl that did me was pretty and real petite and wasn't rough. I went for a twenty minute, and it felt like it lasted forever. There was good aroma therapy and the chairs were so comfortable. It's a new place and am pretty sure the owners know what they are doing. The staff is very friendly. Very cool people. A place like this didn't make me feel shy and was very comfortable here. I have only been to this location twice. The first time, my manicure was done terribly. My nails weren't cut/shaped evenly and the polish didn't last long. Despite this, I went back a second time because the staff is friendly and my mom prefers this place over others. The second time I went in for a UV gel manicure (I've never had it done before). My mom got a UV gel manicure two weeks before and I was curious about it. It's been two weeks since I got it done and it has not chipped at all! My nails are still strong (I have very thin, weak nails). I'm seriously amazed at how well this manicure was done. I used to come to this salon all the time back when it was owned by Tina and the quality and service was always fantastic! Recently, I decided to try this nail salon out again, and I would NEVER go back. They cut one of my fingers during my manicure, causing me to bleed and they made no notice of it. Secondly, I got a simple pedicure and they managed to miss half of my nails while painting on the polish. The nail owner barely bothered to fix them and then had the nerve to make a comment regarding the tip that I left the nail technician. This shop is definitely not customer oriented and is only concerned with getting you in and out the door as quickly as possible. I have been a customer for 2 1/2 years. I went today for my appointment and was told it was 15 minutes earlier which is impossible, I take my son to school 2 towns away at that time. The owner who does my nails then got annoyed I needed soaking, I have gel she knows that she does my nails.Sometimes i do need soaking sometimes i don't. As i was soaking she asked if someone else can do my nails. I said I'd rather not, i made an appointment with her. I was not a walk in. With 5 minutes left my 1 1/2 year old whom I always take with me started whining a little. The owner asked me to do something with the baby. I asked her what she would like me to do. She just made a snooty face and made me super uncomfortable. I went to wash my hands and told her to forget the lotion. I went in for a fill in. They did a horrible job. They used a nail file on entire nail which left all lines (scratch marks) on nail. They did not buff lines out so when nails were painted it looked horrible. Then to top it off the next day my nails all had yellow stains on them. They looked awful. I had to go get them redone elsewhere the following day. It was a total waste of money! read more
