I called the phone number on Yelp , disconnected. I googled it and found a new number. A male answered, he did not say hello, star nails, so it was awkward like hi , hi ? Is this star nails? lol He said yes and what would I like? Which was two gel pedicures. He told me to come at 3:30, which was about an hour. After we hung up he text me to come in 30 minutes will be done sooner than expected, that was nice of him. When I arrived the shop was bare. There wasn't really any signs of services they offer, no hours of operations, etc. The only sign they had is cash only! Cash only or venmo. No real front desk receptionist or cash register, booking. None of the stations had state licenses. Not on the walls, nothing really on walls. I asked them for a menu of service, she found one in the drawls, I wanted to know pricing. For Gel regular pedicure was $35 each was a good price for cash only. I did like my pedicure overall except I did not see them cleaning pedicure instruments well or in a package and I asked about that. They said they did, so I'll let you know if i get an infection or not. I also didn't like the bare feeling inside the place, no music no TV. I did not like how they removed my previous gel polish with an electric file. I would not return but I wouldn't not recommend I would tell others prior to going be aware. read more

I've been coming here for years. I love the service, acrylics, and nail art! They're very accommodating if you have children. The acrylics done by the man here are great and he's fast. Nail art is really good (Tina). There are a ton of colors and nail art to choose from!!! Pedicures are pretty standard and 30 minutes. My only complaint is that they massage you with latex gloves. I hate massages with gloves on because you can hardly feel anything. She massaged each leg for about 5 minutes. They don't really scrub your feet unless you ask them in advance to really scrub the calluses off. They're always willing to accommodate. I got the mani&pedi with gel plus nail art and my cost was $60. A regular mani & pedi is $30. If you have 2 or more people call ahead and let them know so they're fully staffed for you! read more

First and will be my last time there. Went there for Brazilian wax along with pedi. Got my pedi done first and it was going 'til I start to feel burning sensation on my feet. I look down and I see my feet was getting red so I had ask her not to scrub that area. She scrubbed so hard to the point it went raw and started bleeding. Not my favorite or the worst nail shop. I didn't catch names. 4 stars for their customer service. Everyone was so nice. I got a gel mani and a pedi. The lady who did my pedi gave a good massage, but that's about as far as it goes. The paint job was terrible and what's gross was that she took the toe separator off one person who was leaving and placed it back on her cart, then used it on me! Gross!!!! The lady who did my nails was in a rush but overall, I think did a good job. When it came to pay, the ladies really push for you to pay with cash. I took out my card from my wallet and she looked inside my wallet and asked how much cash I had. I was a few dollars short but the lady said I can pay the $43 in cash and the remaining $5 with my card. And that I could just add the tip on the card. If I'm in a jam, maybe go back since they are reasonably priced, but I think I will continue my search or pay a few more $$$. read more

I have gone to Star nails for years. I love Tina she does a great job. The two newer nails techs are really nice but the quality of their nails are average at best. I went in for a fill today and my nails still look like I had them done almost 2 weeks ago and will need another fill in a few days!!!!!! The quality is just below par. There is no attention to detail, nails are different sizes and shapes, old paint was not completely filed off and showed under my fresh fill. My nails weren't buffed very well, they still felt rough after I washed them. In fact I spent several minutes under the water trying to wash off all of the old left over acrylic that was still present on my new fill. I don't feel like the real nail is prepped and primed enough for acrylic to lay and stay correctly on the nail. I have had green on my real nails each and every time these new techs do my fill which leads me to believe they don't! Several times the gel was not allowed to cure long enough under the LED so when the cuticle oil was placed on my cuticles it made the shiny gel look dull. I walked around like that too annoyed to return for them to fix it. I haven't been satisfied with their services in months unless Tina is the one doing my nails. I think it's time to find another nail salon. I will say the nail art was well done. So I'm pleased with that one aspect. Keep that up, but My advice is to take your time and really pay attention to the quality of the nails you do. It's not just the nail art but the strength, cleanliness, and durability of the work you do. I'm very unsatisfied today. read more

Just moved to the area, turned to yelp to help me find a new nail shop. Although the people in this shop were nice, I probably will not be getting my nails done here again. My pedicure was ok I guess, it was done pretty quickly and although it looks alright, I could have done it myself. What I'm really disappointed about is the shellac manicure. In my experience, there is a proper manicure done prior to doing the shellac, here, she did somewhat of a manicure but didn't really address my cuticles, etc. at the end, after the shellac was applied my nails looked terrible. When I brought it up, the lady doing my nails began ranting in Vietnamese to her friends and telling me that it was my cuticles. Well.... It really shouldn't be my cuticles because it was your job to fix them before starting with the shellac. It has now been about one week since I got my nails done and the tips are already worn, the white on the French has those crackly looking lines which you get with regular pain when it gets old. Shellac should look good for at least two weeks....What a waste!!! read more

Just left and the way the guy talked to me the whole time was rude. I had a big blob of dried acrylic stabbing my skin on the back of a nail so I asked him nicely to remove it. He went on a rant about how he has a way of doing things and Im making it very hard to work his way and that I'm just confusing him. I had only asked that ONE thing. The glob was still left there Anyways! This was in front of all the other customers! I love this place! I've gone there twice now for a fill, and even with a design it only cost $20. I love the way they shape my nails and the fill lasts at least 2 weeks-much longer than the fill from other salons I've been to. They paint your nails neatly (no pooling around your cuticles or see through). My first time there I left before my nails were completely dry and messed them up when I got to my car, I came right back in and they fixed it no problem! Due to my work schedule I often can't come in until 10-15 minutes before close but they don't rush at all. I will give it that their polish is good stuff, but that is about it. Andy did my nails. It got quite busy after I arrived and he was pretty preoccupied. I was concerned with jim taking off my gel polish with the dremel, thank goodness it worked out. However he didn't ask me how I like my nails shaped and instead of square (like they were when I walked in) they are now rounded. Well they are now that I fixed half of them. I will admit, the staff there is SO friendly to you at first.. But I swear after going there for a while they start to treat you like poop. They are SO rude and demanding. If they mess up on something and you ask them to fix it, they give such dirty looks and start talking in their language and it just makes me feel so uncomfortable. Worst part is that even if they mess up, they do NOT try their best to fix it, instead they say "that's how it's supposed to go", or "you come back tomorrow and we fix it"... Drove in from out of town and wanted a new gel color. Didn't wait long but was serviced by three different workers just for gel nails. During the polishing I wasn't even at a station, I was at the end of a station pretty much having my nails painted on the girls lap. She forgot to file/shape my nails and she literally finished polishing in like 10 minutes. The coats of polish were terrible and uneven and they didn't even tell me to wash my hands nor did they put any cuticle oil on my nails. Been coming here for years simply because the prices are good. After today I will not be back. I came in for a french tip and they look horrible. I had to ask him to do a second coat because the white on the nail was see through in spots and he reluctantly fixed it. Then as he's having me dry them, notice there is white paint smears on most of the fingers where it is supposed to be clear. The nails look like they were done by a beginner when this isn't the case as he has worked there for years. I told him about the problem and he simply nodded his head like "sorry not sorry" and said I owed $25 dollars. The guy that helped me did such a terrible job on the tips (he drew all mismatched sizes) I couldn't handle how awful it looked so I asked him to fix it and his attempt to fix it was just as bad so I kindly told him I changed my mind and just want clear gel over my nails. I've lived in Visalia for a year and had to ask around for a good nail salon. Three people (one was a stranger) recommended Star Nails. I had a full set put on (gel) $40. I haven't had my nails done in three years and wanted them done for the holidays and the USC game. I stopped by the salon on a Sunday to check it out but they weren't open. I looked inside and it appeared clean. I was also able to see the prices. Full sets range from $22-40. I went with the more expensive full set because of the glitter acrylic and how clear my real nails would look under it. I made my appointment for lunch time (1:30) Not too busy but there was a good flow until around 2:30-3 P.M. I arrived to my appointment about 8 minutes early. My nail tech was Tina, but she was still busy with another client so another nail tech assisted me. I explained the length, color, style and art I wanted on my nails...which took a little bit as I was pulling up pictures for reference. The nail tech did a fantastic job from picking out the right nail tip size to the placing of acrylic. Not lumpy, filed to make the nails look in proportion to my fingers (no shovel nails!) Tina didn't make it back until he had already placed all of the acrylic. I chose to keep the nail tech that started because of the great job that was being done. I paid an extra $5.00 for the gel coating...it is just a good final touch and looks very professional. I would usually do a short french manicure - but I doubled the length I normally do and I had the red glitter acrylic on the tip. I am very happy with the final product. I would recommend this salon for full sets. My nail tech was Alex. Tina is the supervisor in the shop and from the phone calls that came in, is in demand. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because my appointment was made in advance with a specific nail tech and for 5 stars, the nail tech would have had to have done my appointment. Right when i was paying i noticed something looked a bit off, the nail color; one being a way lighter color than the others. The woman saw me looking at them and took me back real quick to fix it! Alex polished my nails between his client then tina came and did a regular polish top coat on top of gel and i asked her if she just put a regualr coat then alex polished them again with a gel top coat to leave them un cured i walked out with my nails still sticky had to come home and put them under my LED lamp 3 days later they r chipping ....what a circus and to top it off alex charged 30 dollars tge most ive ever paid there for a regualr fill ...I SHOULD OF BEEN THE ONE WHO WAS PAID!! read more

I started going to star nails in December. The prices were reasonable for my mother and I to get fills. Three weeks ago the prices started being inconsistent. We made appointments and had to wait. My mom preferred Tina and made appointments with her and she wouldn't do her nails and would have Alex do them instead who she didn't like. Alex messed up my nails last time he did them and I had to get a brand new set from Van. We used to get out of there for less then fifty and tip VERY well. Now it's 70 dollars for two fills without tip. It's ridiculous. They lost my business for good. The quality is amazing but not for the price charged. read more
