I came in because my gel full set chipped. I got them done at vip nails in tinley park, where I usually go. My technician at star nail literally RIPPED my nails off. WITH HER NAILS!!!!! Then she calls herself "filing and trimming" but in reality my nails ended up uneven and crooked. Never coming back again. Save the trip to star nails and go to vip nails in tinley. The salon is dirty - dust is layered on the light fixtures and on the wall behind the pedicure chairs. They don't utilize the disposable liners in the pedicure tubs, which is gross! I got a no-chip manicure and basic pedicure, where the colors were supposedly matching. Toe color was darker than the hands, but I didn't notice until I got outside in the daylight. I didn't bother going back in because I was already disgusted with the service. The gentleman seated in the 2nd chair from the front did my nails, and kept sanding into my cuticles instead of keep the drill on the nail-bed. I kept letting him know that he was hitting my cuticles, but it happened several more times. My pedicure was rushed & the polish dried completely lumpy. I only stayed that particular day because I was leaving out of town for work early the next morning, this place was close to my house, and I had other things to still do that day. This place used to be great! Trust me when I tell you save your money because that is all they want. The husband watches TV while doing your nails therefore nails are usually crooked and he skips vital steps when prepping the nail for acrylic. They remodeled and somehow with that came these nonchalant attitudes. I was in this place REGULARLY every 2 weeks and gave them so many tries to get it together. This could be one of the better salons in the area but they need to go back to their humble days and adjust their attitudes. Ripped off today. I was charged 25.00 for a basic pedicure then was informed when I was paying my bill for services that no chip polish is 20.00 extra. No one mentioned this before my nails were polished. Also, my nails cost 38.00 so my total was 78.00. This is too expensive and apparently this salon has hidden fees that are not disclosed upfront. I visited this salon on a Saturday evening because I didn't feel like going to my usual salon a few miles further from home. This place was much closer, but definitely not better. I got in right away because I called ahead and was told to come at that time. The salon is very clean; however, there was a slight odor underneath the usual salon smells. I smell everything. Anyway, the young lady that did my no chip and pedi was very friendly (almost a little too friendly because she constantly did this creepy smile to communicate because she spoke very little English)...the water was not very warm at first, but she warmed it up once she began the pedicure. The pedicure was only ok. I thought it took longer than usual, but I didn't have that smooth, removed the second skin from my very feeling. Nor was I relaxed....they have massage chairs, but neither I nor the young lady who came in before me were offered a massage. It was weird. Moving on to the manicure....The process she used was very different than what I've experienced. I feel like she did it all backwards. The manicure was quicker than the pedicure. However, my nails are not neat. She looked unsure about how to polish and I had to tell her I needed another coat. You could clearly see my nails through the polish. No ma'am...we're not done here. Again, the end result is uneven, barely squared, polished over cuticle nails. Despite their kindness and cleanliness, skill comes first and therefore I can't say I'd recommend them. I just left here and was assaulted by the manager . Upon my request that he make the water hotter, he became enraged, and made the water too hot and burned me with it. Needless to say I was in shock, left there and went to the Olympia Fields police station to press charges. This kind of behavior is totally unacceptable to a customer like myself who has been patronizing this business for the past 7 months. Be careful of this business becoming more laxed and even abusively negligent to its customers now that they have built somewhat of a sizeable customer base in our community. On Thursday, September 18, I went to this establishment for a manicure. My first time. The person who did my nails was Kevin. On Saturday, September 19, I went back because the polish was coming off on several nails. Kevin applied another coat of polish over the chipped polish. I was sitting in the chair with the fan blowing on my nails to dry. When a couple other customers came in, I WAS LITERALLY PUT OUT OF THE CHAIR. I couldn't believe it. They pushed me out and started working on the ladies that came in. Never checked on me or said another word to me. I couldn't believe the whole thing. I went over to the person in the chair by the front door and asked if my nails were dry. He nodded yes and gestured for me to leave. How rude. I am looking for a new nail place to go to on a regular basis. I guess it won't be here. I really want to find a Black nail shop to visit. Will keep looking. read more

About two weeks later I went to a different shop for a fill and I found out that I didn't get gel nails I actually had acrylic. Just had my pink and white fill in....ABSOLUTLEY WONDERFUL... I didn't have to wait long at all. The service was GREAT. VERY CLEAN

I went 2 days ago and an older lady took care of me. She did a good job on the actual mani pedi BUT she can't paint nails to save her life! She did a horrible job! She left nail polish on my fingers, the nails are streaky and wouldn't dry because it was uneven and globby. She doesn't speak English. If you are doing nails, you need to at least be able to understand what your customer is saying. I left so angry, but I didn't have time to complain because I had to go pick up my daughter. It took her almost 2 hours yo do my mani/pedi! I paid $37 for a basic mani/pedi and a horrible polish job. I will not be going back! read more

I've been to this shop a handful of times and tried to give them chances but each time gets worse, this last visit will be my very last. I received a pedi and mani and my 6 year old received the same from a male tech who by the way was very good with my daughter but the tech I had she didn't do a great job at all. No massage or lotion for my feet and hands, and she had a poor attitude. Towards the end while my nails were drying she sat in front of me and asked for a tip! I just sat there and said, "when my nails dry I will" mind you I planned on leaving a tip, a small one because if her poor service, but I shouldn't have given her anything especially after asking for one. I left the guy tech a much bigger tip that did my daughters nails, and small one for the lady that did mine. When I left the tip she asked if it was for just her or him and I said, this is for you and this is for him and she gave me the most evil look. Never again will I return. Terrible customer service. I would not recommend, save your money and go elsewhere. read more
