I've been a customer of this particular establishment for quite a few years; Paul and his wife have always been reliable and try to fit you in wherever they can. However, this last time that I had a mani/pedi, it was less than stellar. In the past, you would receive a scrub and a soothing lotion rub on both calves and feet (for the pedi). This last time, all she did was wash down my legs, jam my feet into my shoes, slap some lotion on my legs (did not touch feet or ankles) and went right to painting the nails. As for the manicure, she did a very quick job of filing, used no clear base before the polish; no lotion massage on the hands. It took her 45 minutes...that's it...to do BOTH mani/pedi! Previously, it took about an hour and 15 minutes, and I felt refreshed and relaxed. This time I felt like I was getting the bums rush. Lets get honest with each other, COVID has done quite the number on a lot of businesses, no doubt about that. But to cut corners, and time, is not acceptable; and both Paul and his wife wear a mask and gloves. The place was empty when I was there, so the "people are waiting" jam cannot be used in this case. I've decided to look elsewhere going forward. There are places in Madison that are still good, charge the same or less, and do a more thorough job. read more

Absolutely amazing! They got me in within an hour when I did not have an appointment yesterday. Then I had broken two of my acrylics (my own fault, not theirs) and went back this morning praying they would have time to fix them before I had to go to work. They got me all fixed up immediately. There was a mother and daughter getting pedicures and I couldn't help but notice how great they were with the little girl as well! My cousin recommended Star Nails to me for a pedicure. I arrived a bit early, but received a friendly greeting, inviting me to sit down. I looked around the shop. It was very clean with a nicely decorated decor. The wife of the owner gave me an excellent pedicure. I always enjoy the chair massages while having my feet pampered. I went in for a French manicure. I had nail polish on (not gel or no chip) and instead of taking nail polish remover to remove the old polish, the Drumel sander was used. I objected & stated that I have soft/thin nail beds & did not want the sander used. Paul told me that they knew what they were doing. After the sander, the course buffer was used to file & further scuff the nail bed. No cuticle treatment. No lotion. Bare bones service. Second experience & the last with "Star" nails. I do as well at home for a fraction of the cost. read more

Called and made appointments for 2 people several days in advance and arrived a few minutes early only to find out that he tried to squeeze a walk-in in before us so I ended up letting my friend go first and waited for him to finish the lady before me. It was the shortest pedicure I have had in my life. Maybe 20 minutes tops, but alas it was the same price. He never said anything about cash only or you had to use their ATM, which I would have to pay to use. It is a good thing my friend had enough cash so we didn't have to use it. I will never go back, and I do not recommend them to anyone. I paid $55 total for 12 days of chip free nails. As a free bonus, I have deep damage that will take a couple of months to grow out. The $40 powder dip manicure that Paul said lasted his clients 4-6 weeks lasted me 8 days. The free redo lasted 4 days. (I must state that I have an office job, and I wear gloves to wash dishes. I try my best to protect my hands.) Upon my going in after the free redo chipped, Star Nails removed the underperforming product. Once it was off, I was informed that I would pay $15 for the removal. When I complained about this charge, Paul told me that I could have removed it myself. However, back when I had first talked with him about the powder dip manicure before getting it the first time, Paul had told me not to remove it myself because I would damage my nail beds. I told Paul this after being informed of the $15 removal fee; he accused me of lying. Finally, Star Nails promoted the powder dip manicure as better for my nail bed health then shellac polish, but in removing it, they filed my nail beds so deeply that I literally have ridges. read more

my nails turned out good just one nail wasn't dry when they put a matte coat on and it smeared the design everywhere, but other than that i'd go again for quick and easy service, they were also really nice. read more

Horrible customer service and there was cockroaches and they never wash their hands in between clients I will never go back I don't recommend anybody go there and if you do make sure you have your shots first read more

I went to the salon for a fill in the service that I got was very poor. I asked for a fill in I tried to explain the last place I went that did not do a very good job I told the young lady that I had some acrylic that was lifting she ignored it on some nails but clip get up on others I explain to her that the drill had gone to deep into my nail bed she proceeded to drill across them anyway my hands are now tender none of my nails even remotely look the same some are wide some art then some around did some R squared when she was done I asked what the bill was I did not even get them polished and she told me 20 dollars yet she charge me 21 when I ask about it they told me that I had to pay the credit card fee for using my credit card I think this is very poor customer service I think this is a very poorly run salon now I know why everyone told me not to go here and I will not be back I do not recommend this salon to anyone that has ever had their nails done with acrylics it's really a shame that you go somewhere to get a good service done it everybody wants to rush you out in 20 minutes my appointment was at 130 I left at 155 so roughly 25 minutes to do acrylic Fillion and my nails are not smooth and I'm going to have to go home and do them myself. read more
