I went in for a pedicure to see if this salon was the right place for my pre-wedding mani-pedi (closer to home than my regular place). During the pedi, the lady working on my feet was being very vigorous with the cutter, she kept on tugging at my feet cuticles until she ripped the skin off my toe!! She spent about five minutes trying to stop the bleeding, putting some blue liquid on my toe to disinfect so she could do the rest of the pedicure. She then blamed ME for what happened, as though the condition of my feet were so bad that she didn't know how to handle it. For the record, all I had going on was that I hadn't clipped my toenails in about a month. I have been having pedicures for decades, this experience was a first for me. It's only 13 hours after, and I am already getting an ingrown toenail from what happened. I've included two pictures to show the evidence, you can see my right toe has a cut on it and is more swollen than my left toe. You can also see that my toenails were not cut evenly. I am going to have to live with an ingrown toenail for the next two weeks, and I'm getting married in 2 1/2 weeks. This is beyond upsetting. I do not recommend this place. They are very very nice, but ultimately this is not a safe place to go to. read more

This is my go-to nail salon, mainly because they have the nicest staff around! They give the best pedicures- my feet always leave feeling pampered and refreshed. The hot stone massage is my favorite part. They always take good care of my nails, and my latest pedicure is lasting for the last month and a half! They do a pretty good job on shellac manicures, although I do wish they would put more coats on. Great place, I highly recommend it! read more

Found this place on accident while waiting for a tan next door few years ago. Pedicures have been the absolute best that I've ever had. Exfoliating scrub, hot stone massage and paraffin are STANDARD. All for $30 each time!!!! Huge selection of polish colors, VERY clean. Massage chairs. Bowl liners and all equipment for each person has been sterilized. I moved to the east side and am having a hard time finding a salon over here so I'm going to just keep driving out here despite the gas prices. They are WORTH IT!! I've also gotten shellac manicures here that have lasted 2-3weeks. When I've been in a hurry they do the manicure during the pedicure but I'm always in the massage chair getting the pedicure for a minimum of 45 minutes. (Not complaining I'm glad because of the length of the massage and treatments) staff is always friendly and funny and kind and don't talk about you in front of you like most nail places do. I wish I had pictures to display and I should've written this sooner. It's only now when I'm trying to find a place on the east side that I am realizing that I'm going to just keep coming here. It's too good to leave also NEVER go to Blush nails. I don't leave bad reviews but they offer similar services and similar pricing probably to try to compete with this salon but the 2 experiences I had there were absolutely horrific. So bad that I am still leaving them a "bad review" in this good review for another business. I don't know how yelp works but if you're able to see my full review for blush nails I left it on their page. But why waste time just come to star instead. You won't be disappointed. read more

absolutely wonderful experience! I walked in to get acrylic french tips done without an appointment and they were able to squeeze me in due to a cancellation! Definitely suggest calling to make an appointment a day or two in advanced since they were completely booked today. I was in a bit of a rush and the woman who did my nails, did them quickly but didn't skimp on the quality by any means. I've gotten acrylics done many times before and have done my own acrylics in the past, so her ability to do such good work in such a short time was very, very impressive! I came here because my usual spot was booked and I was in desperate need of a pedicure. This was the most thorough, enjoyable pedicure I have ever had. It was a better paint job than the full service salons/day spas I have been to in town, and a better massage/pampering than your typical nail salon. Their deluxe pedicure is only $35 and included trimming, exfoliating scrub, hot stone massage, regular lotion massage, and parafin. I wish 4.5 stars was an option because my only area for improvement is the ambiance. It's certainly a clean nail salon with bright lighting and plenty of stations, but the massage chairs seemed a little older and not quite as nice as other salons I have been to. Certainly won't keep me from coming back for another pedicure though! read more

I have been here maybe 2-3 times and I have absolutely no complaints. The work is always thorough and the nail technicians actually listen when you give them specific instructions. I got shellac for the first time on my most recent trip and it is now about 1 week and 5 days no chips (I usually chip after 5-6 days no matter where I go). They are not the most expensive but they are also not the least expensive but I can say that the work fits the bill. Also, appts. are not required but it is difficult to be seen without one as they are usually always crowded during the times I have gone (weekdays after work and Saturday afternoon). read more

Why is it so difficult to find a good nail salon in Madison??I have been to Star Nails many times. Every time, I get over charged, or the quality is crap. I was there 1 week ago. The nail tech was angry because I didn't want shellac or gel. I just wanted pink and white acrylic nails. The acrylic is now chipping off after 1 week. She put so little product on my nails, its cracking and falling off. My nails look like crap. I obviously have given this place too many chances. read more

i had an appointment today at star nails on mckee rd by target and hound ale house and i sat down at mans station and i thanked him for getting me in, i felt as tho he was a bit "short" and "testy" so i informed him that i didnt appreciate his attitude and that i was not going to let him finish working on me so i said that i will wait for one of the ladies to finish my manicure and that i didnt care how long i had to wait for her, the man did a poor job on my french nails so i had him start over and i didnt have him do a french nail polish on me and he sure made it known that he had a bad attitude and i just simply stated that i wasnt going to put up with it. read more
