Beep Beep there goes the microwave again Wow I don't understand the good reviews from this place everything is put in the microwave first I ordered grape leaves and a Greek salad for starters the grape leaves came out warm from the microwave as I heard the beep beep before it was sat in front of me Warm grape leaves ok that's a first Greek salad comes out and served with two kinds of salad dressing on the side vinegar and oil or balsamic and oil ? Where's the Greek dressing Ok that's when I should should have said never mind just cancel my order but I didn't Beep Beep there's that microwave sound What's next Oh my Fried chicken sandwich comes out double wrapped from the oven I open to find two table spoons of Hot mayo and tomato's on a soggy roll Gross and very messy I fork a little bite of the pre microwave fried chicken then it's baked in oven I'm like ok get a new bun and dumb hot sauce on it I can deal I ask for a new bun patiently waited 10 mins as they had to go orders being made by now my twice cooked sandwich is cold I'm even going to try agin but my friend ask before I could say No about the bun she rudely replied Yes !!! I can't begin to describe how happy I am to have discovered this place. My husband and I are so happy with absolutely everything! I had a lamb wrap with white sauce, and let me tell you! It was fantastic! From the first bite down to the very last, the flavors were well coordinated and amazing. The owner, the employees, they are so sweet and caring. If you're looking for an intimate place to spend with your loved ones, at an affordable cost, this is definitely your place. They are absolutely great, polite, attentive. I'm a won customer. This is possibly the worst place I've eaten in Oneonta. My boyfriend asked for the chicken soup and I literally watched them open a can of Progresso soup and heat it up in the microwave. The falafel's tasted as if they were frozen and then deep fried. They were so hard to bite down on that it cut the roof of your mouth. I would highly suggest against this place. read more

This little place is a hidden gem. Outstanding Middle Eastern food, everything homemade--even the hot sauce!--cooked to order, and very generous portions. Food is inconsistent and meat is often (now more than before) burnt or dry. I'm also unsure if they actually use a turning spit or simply get their meat frozen premade. Really miss the old Sauced here,, the Gyros aren't up to that standard. Aside from that, their menu is all over the place and seems too much. It can be hard to understand the person over the phone and I've heard of more than one instance where food was delivered before the customer was even charged. All the menu items are also simply stock photos or internet pictures, not actual photos of their food or kitchen, which is seriously misleading. All of this seems odd as I believe the owners are from Egypt, and having had middle eastern Gyros, Kebobs, etc, I would think these would be traditionally done and great tasting. The portions at least are generous. Jan 15, 2017 The new restaurant replacing Sauced has a familiar menu that offers some of the things Sauced did. Star Mix offers several similar things that felt a bit confusing, Gyro, Kebob, and so on, but didn't list the differences between them. The ordering process was a bit odd as the order taken was on one phone, and the credit card was taken on another, after the food had left. When the Gyro came, it was a bit sloppy. It seems overloaded with ingredients and dripping heavily with sauce. There were also peppers and grilled onions(?) I believe that I'm not used to being on a Gyro. The Gyro itself was good, very messy, and had some things I would have preferred off it, but was filling. The fries were nice, still somewhat crispy and not tiny. Tzatziki Sauce was included, but didn't really seem like Tzatziki Sauce, it was very thin and runny with no color or spices to be seen. It seems more like a very thin sour cream. The gyros did have a good amount of meat and feta cheese, but perhaps too much for a sandwich as it was overloaded from everything else. Pricing was fine and food didn't take terribly long. I have some issues with the menu itself, things I would personally fix, but at least it is available and viewable. This place just recently opened, so there may be some time needed to transition and get things up to quality and efficiency. So if you would like to give it a try, try to stop in so they can easily answer questions, and make sure to list exactly what you would like. Will try again when they have had more time to progress. read more

I live and work in New York City so I'm not easily impressed with good ethnic food. My stop at Star Mix this past Saturday changed all that. I can say without reservation that this is by far the best lamb gyro I've ever had. The generous portion of meat was moist and bursting with flavor, the veggies were super fresh, and the pita was perfectly soft and chewy. However, most of all I can't stop raving about the home made tzatziki sauce. It was super creamy, full of flavor and perfectly completed the gyro. This was hands down the best meal I've had in quite some time. It is definitely worth the trip to experience the food and the hospitality of the owners. I'll definitely be back soon! read more

Easily some of the best food in Oneonta! Lamb and chicken gyros are tasty and filing. Hummus is perfect! Prices are great, wide selection of drinks and the dining room and kitchen are always spotless clean. I drive 45 minutes just to eat there.
