It's been a long time since I've been here! Last time was a few months after it opened…read more Food wise it's not bad. None of the mains stood out but the desserts are great! Fried ice cream, banana fritters and fried dough sticks with coconut ice cream and pandan sauce are just yum! Service wise though I found it a bit slow for the food to come out and staff would disappear at times,I found it staff to ask for the bill! And our desserts felt like it took ages! Best thing about this place is the desserts!

Fried knuckle-nothing to say but delicious!! This is really good crispy and juicy be honest a lot of fat in there but good taste of fat!!!! It's just melting in your mouth. Good and good!! The sauce whatever comes with? Just like Heaven!! I know it's maybe bothering you but I'm telling you the true.. good! Vermicelli salad with seafood-I usually I love this salad every Thai restaurant I go but this wasn't good as what I thought. Because need more lime and less sugar.. too sweet for me and even for my sister too.. but the seafood was so fresh and noodles was perfectly cook so I will just say good this dish too Steam rice-perfectly cook enough sticky Laos sausage- not for me but my family said it's good but sorry I'm not a sausage person but I can only tell this sausage is juicy and tender mean is good I guess. This Laos restaurant was bomb! It was delicious and before I leave I really want to try again!!!!

My aunt took is here after landing in Sydney and it was ok. Nothing really special. The restaurant…read moreis pretty big and nice looking and service was decent. I'm not sure how pricing is because she paid and the menu we looked at was just filled with pictures. We ended up ordering the sausage, Chicken skewers, fried egg salad, chicken salad, papaya salad, Tom yum soup, ox tounge, pandan sticky rice with ice cream and banana fritter with ice cream. The highlight for me was the ox tounge and the fried egg salad. The egg was cooked to perfection and it was really good. The ox tounge was unique and has a chewy texture and flavor was good. Everything else was ok and pretty standard. It does take a while for food to come out and our server was so unenthusiastic looking. Overall, an ok Thai/Laos restaurant

Every Tuesday at work we get take away delivered from here for lunch!…read more For an order over $30 they will deliver it free within a few Km's Now the food. Yum yum yum! And the value is absolutely awesome! Lunch special includes pad Thai, pad see ew, green red massaman or yellow curries with rice for only $8.80 or even stir fries for 8.90 and you can't complain at that! The pad Thai is authentic and delicious you want more! The red curry is a winter warmer for those cold days. And the chilli chicken basil stir fry is NOT for the feint hearted, if you want hot chilli you get hot chilli with this, it had me running for the milk in the fridge lol! But this place is awesome definitely recommend,!!!!!

An oldie but a goodie.. One of the first Lao restaurants to pop up in Fairfield creating this area…read moreto be a hub for Lao cuisine. They keep it simple and traditional here with the usual Laotian fare and they do it pretty tantalisingly well! My mouth waters just thinking of of the spicy pungent flavours... It's an acquired taste but I can say that if I were on death row my last meal request would be a spicy Som Tum and Lao sausage. If you love your chilli and an amalgamation of sour, salty, spicy and sweet U will love Laotian cuisine. My recommendations: Som Tum: shredded ow paw salad with smashed cherry tomatoes and fermented crab. The textures, freshness and combination of all base flavours make this a definite staple and perfect accompany to all the grilled meats on offer Lao Sausage: wonderfully soft and slightly chewy bit crisp on the outside. Hints of lemon grass and Asian herbs Ox Tongue: grilled to perfection, thinly crisp with a succulent centre ready to soak up the salty spicy dipping sauce Chicken Feet Salad: sounds a little horrid but once you get past the whole chicken feet thing you'll find a refreshing, flavoursome and textural salad that will leave you with a new view of chicken feet. To accompany all this get a mini bucket of sticky rice to go with your meal, that's how the Lao do it! Ambience here is a little kitsch which denotes why it's 4 and not 5 stars but we're here for the food not the ambience.

The southern side of Fairfield station entertains a number of Lao/Thai restaurants and Khoune Kham…read moreis one that I have frequented a few times over the past year. Traditional Lao Thai food is a bit more adventurous than normal Thai food of the sort you find in Thaitown or King Street Newtown. Conveniently located across the road from the station with parking available right across the street - the eatery is 1 of 3 on this block and probably is in 2nd spot in terms of popularity. I go to this one as each time it is busy enough but I can still walk in and get a table without waiting. This is definitely a family run business and the front of house is run by the kids and the kitchen seems to be manned by the parents/elders. I have received pretty friendly service here from the wait staff and which rounds off a cheap great tasting meal. My tip for ordering at a Lao place is to forego the carbs and order the salads and meats. I don't normally get the noodle, curry or rice dishes - if people in your group can't eat without some carbs, then get the sticky rice to go with the meats and salads. My favourite salad is the Lao green papaya salad with fermented crab. Only ask for hot if you're a freak chili eater as it is HOT! If the strong pungent fermented crab is too much for you, then go for the squid or beef salads - both are good. When eating the salads, nibble on a bit of cabbage or a mint leaf for an extra flavour kick. For something a bit different, get the burnt rice and 'ham' salad - awesome contrast of textures and flavour. As for the meats, I always order the Lao sausage and grilled ox tongue. The ox tongue should be crisp on the edges and tender in the middle - if it is tough then they have overcooked it. Khoune Kham has never failed to deliver on some tender ox tongue. The deep fried quail is also highly recommended. Prices are quite competitive, with most dishes around the $10 mark. I think the correct number of dishes to order is the # of people in your party + 2. So if you have 4 people, order 6 dishes.
