I've heard mixed reviews about Bank's Thai, which is why I felt I had to go to see for myself. I think a lot of it depends on whether your experience lives up to your expectations - if you go thinking you're in for a fabulous, chef hat quality meal, then the reality is likely to be a little disappointing. I visited Bank's Thai with some trepidation, and thus was pleasantly surprised. Fine, it's not gourmet Thai, and I have eaten better, but it's great for a quick mid-week supper. There are no surprises - the menu lists the typical (but delicious) Thai dishes that are available in most Thai restaurants: a lot of curries, stir fries, noodles and rice.
I chose the Thai green curry, which is a favourite of mine and a staple of Thai menus - it was delicious, delicately spice tempered by the creamy coconut milk, lovey crisp vegetables and tender chicken. The service was efficient and it was very reasonably priced. A perfect place to come for an informal dinner, and you probably wouldn't be able to cook it at home for much less than they charge (and you don't have to do the washing up). read more
