    Pad see ew
    Brittany W.

This restaurant was super busy, but it was a lot bigger than I initially thought (and continued further back than I expected). I was seated almost immediately, despite it being a lunch hour rush, and ordered the pad see ew. The portion size was large, and the noodles were flavorful and fresh. The iced Thai coffee wasn't very good, so I wouldn't recommend. Service was fast until it was time to pay the bill, but not enough of a deterrent that I wouldn't return!

Great service and the food was pretty good (above average but not the best Thai I've had). Ambiance is great as well seeing plus it's very convenient as a tourist since it's inside the mall. Lastly the value was pretty good.

The food is very good here. Got the minced chicken meat with rice and the pad kee mao. It was spicy and the food was fresh. Although the food was delicious the service leaves a lot to be desired. The waitresses just put your order on the table without saying anything. Also , after I was done eating I asked for dessert menu. They told me to go to front and get it. I'm not sure if there was a language barrier but it was very odd.

Thai dessert. A bit sweeter than I expected. But the ice help.

Came for some dessert after viet pho, but they were really nice to let me just have 1 dessert, service was really nice.

4.5 stars! Chat Thai always sees lines for a reason--the atmosphere is vibrant and the food is delicious! There are now locations of this restaurant located all over the city, and this turned out to be one of my favorite meals during my Sydney visit! The menu is huge and sectioned into different categories, but you really can't go wrong with anything--the flavors were all on point and the food plated beautifully. We started with the green papaya salad with field crab, which had just the right balance of spicy, salty, sweet, and crunch. The khao padt nahm prik kapi was a generous portion of fried rice with shrimp paste relish, fried mackerel, pea eggplant, cha-om omelette, and boiled egg; and the mussaman neua was a dense curry containing braised beef shin, potatoes, and peanuts. The tender beef simply fell apart, and the spices were the perfect complement. But perhaps my favorite dish was the king prawns with lemongrass and spring onion salad. The salad itself was a little bit too salty, but the king prawns were simply the bomb. Four of these giant creatures sat on the plate waiting to be devoured--don't forget to suck out the head, which is absolutely the best part! Overall, this was an amazing Thai restaurant with perfectly executed dishes at reasonable prices. However, the service could be a bit more hospitable, and some of the dishes were overly salty, such that I was left thirsty even several hours later. Nevertheless, I'd definitely recommend a visit for some authentic flavors of Thai cooking!

We've been their loyal customer for almost a decade now - we come here every time we're in Sydney. This time around, we tried the Tom Yum fried rice which is highly recommended. They have a great selection of unique Thai dishes on their menu as well. Chat Thai will always be Sydney's most famous Thai restaurant and you can tell from the crowd! Definitely worth a try if you ever crave for Thai cuisine.

Oh wow!! This is some phenomenal Thai food! I was in Thai town trying multiple spots and this was my favorite. They have excellent mains, I really enjoyed the pad see ew! But the real star is their incredible and authentic dessert menu. I came back every night during my Sydney vacation for the mango sticky rice with coconut ice cream. The coconut ice cream is so flavorful and fresh, they make it in house. Note: they only serve mango sticky rice after five (learnt the hard way!) This is one of my favorite Thai restaurants in the world and it's open till 2am!!! There can be a little wait when it's not the middle of a pandemic but TRUST ME SOOOO WORTH IT!!!

Spicy spicy spicy!! This place totally satisfied my craving for spicy Thai food. Unlike the watered down American versions I usually have to settle for, Chat Thai has an extensive menu with many familiar dishes (from my time in Asia), and their spices are for real. I hopped in for a late lunch, and ordered a satay to start, and a special dish as my main. The dish was meatballs stir-fry with chiles, basil, and prawn paste, and was not only delicious, it set my mouth on fire! By the end I was mostly weeping from eating the dish, but somehow I really enjoyed torturing my tastebuds. If I have to pick on something, the service was slow and haphazardly. I was on my own and yet it took them 15 mins to realize I haven't ordered anything. The food came in a relatively fast time, but again, it took forever for them to clean out the dishes and give me my check. This slow being in a mall is just not quite acceptable to me. The food was good though. I would certainly go back to try another dish from their gigantic menu.

Bet cha never thought you'd wait for mall food, did ya? Well, me neither. Came here on my first night in Sydney and I was surprised to see a long waiting list for a Monday night. My jaw dropped when I realized there were about 30 names ahead of me--by far, this was the busiest restaurant at the mall that night. Luckily, we were only a party of two, but we still had to wait for quite awhile. You can tell Chat Thai has been a well-renowned establishment in Sydney when they put together a pretty high-quality-looking menu that stands out for an Asian restaurant and there are apparently lines at all its locations--or so I've heard. A lot of the menu items are your standard Thai restaurant food items with a bit of an exotic touch. "Fancy Thai" is the best I can do to describe this place. I had the Yum Hua Bplee (poached chicken, prawns and banana blossom salad with smoked chili jam)--though it was pretty pricey for a salad, it was very good. I normally can't tolerate any spiciness (at all), but it was that good, I had continued to finish it because it was so flavorful and had a mixture of sweet and sour. There weren't many pieces of the lettuce itself, but I prefer it this way since it left me very full afterwards. The crunch (which were banana blossoms) made this salad fun to eat and the pieces of chicken were good! My mother had the Mud Crab Curry, which she wasn't too amazed with. For drinks, I had the Strawberry Blended Juice, which I didn't expect to be smoothie-textured, but it tasted pretty fresh (although there was lots of sugar added and it was very watery). My mom had the Coconut Juice and she loved it--especially the presentation with strips of coconut meat, but 75% of it was filled with ice. I felt pretty rushed throughout and service was a little rude...when we asked a question about the food, the waitresses turned around immediately and grabbed another waitress to take our order instead. I'm guessing it was because she was more knowledgeable, but it was odd. A little pricey for Thai food, but I think this was worth the wait and the hype.

I absolutely love this place, and make multiple trips here whenever I visit Sydney. The stirfry dishes are not at all oily, and the noodle dishes are not overcooked. The menu is vast, and it's not as if they are combining just a few ingredients in many ways. There are many many unique flavors. Wonderful place.

Nowadays, Chat Thai Restaurants are everywhere in Sydney and it's very popular. I have been to Chat Thai in Gateway, Circular Quay ant it's the first time here. Comparing to the other one, this restaurant is smaller but service is pretty quick. I visited here with my Thai friend from work and she picked some items from the menu. Everything was so nice and I loved the fried rice with Tom Yum Goong flavour. Service:4 Cost Performance:4 Atomosohere:3 Satisfaction:4

There's a good vibe on Westfield's top floor. The decor and fittings gives it a good energy. Having open plan kitchens is always a good sign of freshness and standards. The curry was OK, the lamb had the texture of tough stir fried lamb. I wouldn't recommend it. As a first timer, I thought choosing a dish that takes a whole menu page was a good idea. The mackerel fried rice was alright, rice was at the right consistency except the main protein the mackerel: oversalted and fishy. At first yeah, I thought it's going to grow on me. Kept trying to eat it but half a plate later gave up on it. It certainly didn't help that it took 30 minutes to serve fried rice after serving the curry. Conclusion I wouldn't feed that fried rice to my dog, but my cat might like that fishy mackerel lol. @thesydneynoob

Very auhentic Thai food (try the Som Tum.. It's a best kept secret recipe here). Also when you order spicy food, it actually is spicy (beware if you can't eat real spicy food!). But beware the lines (you can also agree to share a table if you just want food. In my experience though, even though I've agreed to share a table most of the time I get my own anyway)

Good grub food to get the Thai zest food on!…read more I like their flavorful Tom Yum Goong, extremely. One can tell with the ingredients used and the strong flavor used in the soup. Chicken noodle soup was spot on. I think I ate too much two hours before, so my stomach wasn't feeling well at all when I over ordered here! I got excited on their 5 dollar grubs and Tom Yum soup. It's like a hole in the wall kind of place. Service was great and I like the down to earth vibes here. My eyes are bigger than my stomach, as usual. Got my yummy Thai craving on!

You're gonna need it, this is authentic Thai, they don't scrimp on the spice. This used to be a very regular lunchtime haunt for me because it wasn't very busy and @ $7.90 for my favourite dish (which is a generous serve), it was almost impossible to avoid at least once a week. However it seems that word has gotten around because it can be very busy at lunch times. I usually opt for pork pad krapao cos it's a great serve but have tried other dishes too. The pork two ways (belly and bbq) is a bigger dish but is also outside their $8 lunch sweetspot! The only real gripe I have with the place is that the seating outside attracts smokers. Most people hate smokers whilst they are eating, and it's probably illegal but you know what inconsiderate ign'ant peeps are like, they just don't care.

From the outside it looked very clean and inviting with walls decorated with vibrant Thai street art. There were many patrons inside eating which is also a good sign that the food must be good. I decided to give it a try and I'm so pleased I did! The place has a Bain-Marie setup on entry for takeaway. You can order from here to dine in also but the price will differ. It is cheaper to takeaway. The menu is very extensive listing more than 100 Thai regional specialties. The menu has several different styles of noodle soups 'Boat Noodle Soup' and 'Tom Yum Sukhothai Noodle Soup' ranging from the spicy-sour tom yum soup to tom luad moo (soup made with a clear broth as well as pork and vegetables). Under the heading 'Hot Pot Set' you can order the Thai Southeast street food 'Chim Chum', a spicy sour broth with different meats, seafood and fresh herbs such as galangal, sweet basil, lemongrass and kaffir lime leaves all cooked together and served in a small clay pot. There are refreshing papaya and vermicelli noodle salads, stir-fries, fried fish, hotpots and for the ultimate sweet ending, sweet doughnuts served with delicious Pandan sauce (Pa-Tong-Go) or deep-fried banana. I chose two of my all time favourites- Chicken Pad Thai and a Chicken Cashew Nut stir fry. The portion size was huge and worth every cent! The taste was simply amazing and better than what I have received at my other favourite, more expensive Thai restaurants in Sydney. Wow I now have found a new favourite Thai restaurant.
