    Beef Pad See Ew ($11.50)
    Jon L.

I was staying in Potts Point while visiting Sydney earlier this year. It was pouring rain on my last day there, so I decided to look for an eatery nearby since I didn't want to go too far. Looked up Thai restaurants on Yelp and Thai Power was one of the closest options so I decided to head out to find it. It is located on Victoria Street just down the street from Kings Cross Station. The area is a bit dark in the evening, but I didn't feel unsafe walking in the area. Reached the storefront to find a small restaurant. There are only a few tables here (including a couple outside) so this place seems more of a takeaway Thai spot. The menu has your typical Thai items including curry, noodles and rice dishes. Though the meat options go beyond the usual beef, chicken and pork. There are offerings like lamb, duck and seafood. Prices are pretty reasonable as everything is $20 and under. And though this is a Thai restaurant, they offer different preparations (Chinese/Malaysian/Thai) for their noodle dishes. I decided to get a takeaway meal and settled on the money bag entree ($6.50) and beef pad see ew ($11.50). The wait didn't take very long as my order was ready within 10 minutes or so. The two dishes were boxed up in microwave containers which is great since you can leave them as is to reheat for another day if you can't finish it. My order didn't come with any utensils or napkins which could have been a disaster, but fortunately I was able to eat my meal inside my hotel's kitchen/dining area which has these things. The money bags are an appetizer consisting of minced chicken and vegetables that is reminiscent of a fried wonton. I really liked this dish as it was nice and crunchy. The accompanying sweet chili sauce goes well with them. As for the pad see ew, the rice noodles were delicious and I like the inclusion of choy sum. The beef was a little bit on the chewy side, but alright. If you are staying in the Potts Point area or enjoying the nightlife in the area and want some Thai food, I recommend Thai Power. Prices are reasonable and the food is good.

Pad woon sen. Delicious glass noodle pad thai

Good Thai food for reasonable price. Very few Thai places serve tasty glass noodle Pad Thai (aka Pad Woon Sen) and Thai Power is one of them. Another place is Do Dee Paidang which is close to Paddy Market. If you want to try other types of Pad Thai, Pad Woon Seen is the one to go for. You have more choices of meat here including chicken, pork, beef, duck, lamb and seafood here. They do have online delivery or pickup via Menulog site. Cash only. Don't expect good customer.

Pork hot and spicy noodles in the front, chicken pad thai in the back.

Great food. Great lunch specials. I was just staying in Sydney for the week, but if I lived there I'd be there all the time.

Food was decent. Sauce was good but none of the ingredients were seasoned. Only tried the massaman curry, so other stuff could be better.

Towards the front the tables are rather crowded together but one step up going towards the back it's more spacious. Their menu is rather complete even with a selection of 5 different rice preparations including a turmeric or black sesame infused. They also have 8 Chef Specials and 5 Duck Specials in their listing along with various seafood and curry dishes. As they seem to handle some take out you'll find people coming and going and for whatever reason the wait staff seems to get involved, so service tends to rather goofy. As for the quality of the food and what I had, I'd say basic Thai, rather good but I didn't have anything that I would consider to be of particular note or exceptional. They note that there food is prepared medium in heat unless you request spicy; however beware of those tiny little red chili peppers. The prices are reasonable and I found it to be a comfortable place to eat especially as I had a window view of Macleay Street which is really good for a Potts Point people watching.

This is my favorite Thai restaurant in Sydney. Full stop. I realize what that is saying. This was…read morethe first place I got quickie takeout from after landing in town both last year and this year and it will be the last thing I eat before I leave. It's probably actually my favorite restaurant of any kind in Sydney. Nestled between a clock shop and an adult video (? or something ?) store on Oxford Street, this restaurant offers classic Thai staples in hearty portion sizes for prices well below what they probably should be. It's nothing fancy, but they are always quick to bring out water, happy to accommodate your BYO option for the meal, and the décor inside is bright colored walls with tasteful scattered plants, posters, mirrors and dimly lit candles on tables which provide just the right amount of ambiance to make it feel special for an evening date. They are usually pretty busy and can be packed at lunchtime, but they do a swift takeout order if need be. This place is good enough and the staff are so friendly, I don't even mind coming to eat lunch here by myself once in a while. My favorites are the curry puffs as a starter and the red curry chicken as a main. My partner loves the lad nar with tofu and vegetables. I also recommend the spring rolls or fish cakes as starters, tom kha gai as a soup will do for a main too, or any of the basics like fried rice, pad kee mow, or pad thai as mains. The dishes range from $10-12 roughly, based on the meat you select. I haven't had anything thus far that I didn't like, and most of it I found to be simply delectable. I leave stuffed every time, feeling like I probably shouldn't have finished the last few bites but I can't help myself.
