This place was very over the top busy so I choose. There was a wait for about 10 minutes. You have to order and pay at front. Ordered a few dishes they did not come out family style. The spicy dishes are very spicy. The dishes did not come out strong steaming hot. The shrimp pad Thai did not have enough rice and six shrimp. The beef was not cooked well.

Follow the lines in AUS. I saw a line for Chat Thai so I came and it was one of the better thai food I've had...but it's probably a bit too pricey for how much you are given. I had the amy's noodles which I love the noodles as they were really tasty and had a lot of "wok he." The prawns werent that great(they're not that terrible)...I did love the veggies cause along with the noodles they were packed with flavors. I'll definitely consider coming back.

Nice buzzy ambience without the greasy floor of fast food asian places. I like the decor of the place. We may not have ordered the right dishes to give this place a true rating. We ordered minced chicken with green beans over steamed rice. Pretty good. I wished that there were a lot more green beans. A bit of spicy ness mixed in. I also ordered rice vermicelli with bamboo shoots, eggplant, chicken. The waiter told us that it was too spicy. But it came out smelling like rotten food (fish sauce overused?). I took one poof of the air above it, had one bite and felt like that I was going to throw up eating this and had to abandon it. This place opens late and the line is quite long even at 11pm. We waited for 15 minutes to get seated.

Yummy yummy yummy!! This place was friendly and service was great. The restaurant is small but cozy. They have beautiful flowers at the cashier station which is nice to look at while you are waiting to pay your tab. All plates were delicious but I will say the most memorable plate was the fish mango. The mango salad paired beautifully with it. Amy's hungry noodles were the right amount of spicy. They were tangy and rich in flavor. If you're in the area, don't skip out on this restaurant. Cheers!

If it looks crowded, don't be deterred. They have a second floor. Three friends and I came in on a Thursday at around 2. It was crowded but thankfully, we didn't have to wait. To start, we all shared the spring rolls ($10), which consisted of smoked fish sausages, chicken and crab with caramelised tamarind relish. We only ordered it because everyone on Yelp kept raving about it, but I didn't really like it. The 'fish sausages' (whatever that is - I'm not sure I even want to know) tasted kind of spongey. On top of that (literally) was the sauce they drizzled on it, which was way too sweet. It almost tasted like it belonged on a dessert, and not an appetizer. So why the 4 stars? Well, you can't really judge a restaurant on one dish - least of all an appetizer. Its saving grace was the khau gai noodles, which was on their 'specials' menu. It's similar to pad see ew, so if you like flat (non-spicy) noodles, this dish is perfect for you. But if you're like me and you do like the spice, it does come with a side of sriracha-like sauce. You know that feeling where you're so full but the food is so good that you just want to keep eating it? This was one of those times. I'm pretty sure I finished off every last morsel of that noodle dish. Bottom line - go to Chat Thai, avoid the spring rolls but do get yourself some noodles!

Always been and always will be my favorite place to eat while I'm in Sydney. Yes, my first stop most of the time. Chat Thai never failed me. Suggestion to eat there with several people so you can share dishes and try some of the menu. Superb. Today I went there just 2 of us. So we ate individual dish. We love our pick. Take a look on the picture.

Came a long way with Chat Thai. I have grown to like it. You have to know your menu but I really enjoyed the minced pork with basil, especially if you can take the heat. Instantly clear all sinuses! All the classic Thai dishes are very well prepared and absolutely delicious.

I can see why there was a 30 minute queue, at least, on a Saturday night and this was early. Line up, put your name down and take a number. No bookings. Best to come with no more than 4 people. Menu is substantial. Classic Thai dishes or go rogue. Whatever you get is sure to please. As busy as they were, our food came within 5 minutes of ordering. Before our drinks! Yummy flavours, like the spicy green papaya salad, creamy red curry with duck and Pad Thai, for my less adventurous friend. Can't complain! It was crowded and noisy so don't go on a first date. Do go on an empty stomach. I dare you not to sleep after your meal! Delicious.

My friend who has been living in Sydney for a year or two decided to take my friend and I to this place since her other friend recommended this place. When we got here, the place was PACKED. We put our name on the waiting list, and we waited for about 30 min. We ordered a variety of dishes and shared them. I forgot the names of the dishes in particular, but we got a papaya salad, some red curry, some soft-shelled crab dish, and pad thai. The papaya salad and curry were rightfully spicy, and since I can't handle spicy food all that well, I didn't eat too much of it. The soft-shelled crab was delicious, and I would definitely recommend that dish! The pad thai is my go to Thai dish and it tasted good as well! Overall, this is a great Thai place, but be aware of the long wait!

We came here because it was one of the few restaurants near us open past 10, but it exceeded every expectation! From the appetizer, drinks and entree to the dessert, everything we ordered was delicious. There's a great ambiance and I highly recommend this place for a late night meal... open until 2!

Wowwww!! Late hours brought me to this restaurant. It's everything the reviews say it is. You get more than you expect after drooling over the photos. The art, the brick walls, watching them fry up the donuts... It's a great vibe. Very popular spot it appears. The have a very nice menu, book style. Many pages and great pictures. Everything we ordered came out delicious. The papaya salad was so fresh crunchy and spicy. The pad Thai was yummy topped with plenty of bean sprouts. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients. As I'm writing this, I'm craving the food again. We were absolutely full but had to order the donuts. The gentleman next to us finished an entire order of it to himself, it had to be good! And it was! Dipped in the subtle sweet green tea sauce, heaven. Perfect to finish off the meal.

    Khanom Jeeb, Chat Thai

I can see them carrying pitchforks, and chanting bloody murder... the look in their baleful eyes, as they train them on my soul, hold a promise that it won't be quick... that's the nature of elite foodie Yelpers, and they gon' be on me like Elvis on a cheeseburger. Soz peeps my experience here just wasn't that good and my expectations were set high. It was nowhere near what I get at Home or Prik Thai - where I am treated like royalty and the food is amazing. The Khanom Jeeb here were exceptional, granted, but they were entree. The service was also very good. The wait was short and our server was vivacious and colourful, which always helps. But... my main was a huge let down. I had the Crying Tiger, which tends to be either done very well by Thai restaurants, or done very poorly, and sadly I was very disappointed with it here. The beef wasn't tender at all and the sauce was not the traditional spicy flavour explosion that I have come to expect. If it's any consolation my co-worker said the Pad Thai was the best he'd ever had (and he's eaten with me at both the other places), but I don't rate Thai places on how well they do their most pedestrian dish. The complexity in the Crying Tiger wasn't there and the simple lack of tenderness killed it for me. Whilst I will be back to try Chat Thai again, my first experience was memorable for the wrong reasons :(

One of the BEST thai places in Sydney! I stumbled upon Chat Thai at around 2pm, scribbled my name onto the waiting list and ripped off my numbered ticket. I stood by the waiting list and read everyone's names to kill some time (which probably sent off some stalkerish vibes) and read through the thorough menu. After about 20mins or so, we were awarded for our patience by being seated and we were overly-prepared to order! I can't remember exactly what we ordered but I do recall that the food was very appe-THAI-zing ;D The staff were super friendly too! Apparently, they had served us a dish with the wrong condiments on the side, unbeknownst to me. We had chowed through half the dish accompanied by the incorrect sauce (which still tasted awesome) before a waiter came by, swiped up the dish, was very apologetic and replaced it with a fresh, new one with the right sauce. Honestly, I don't even know how they realised we had been given the wrong condiment since it had already been a few minutes and we didn't signal that anything was wrong with it, but kudos to them for being on the ball. So, if you get the opportunity to visit Chat Thai, I would highly recommend it (for the spec-THAI-cular service)

Good grub food to get the Thai zest food on!…read more I like their flavorful Tom Yum Goong, extremely. One can tell with the ingredients used and the strong flavor used in the soup. Chicken noodle soup was spot on. I think I ate too much two hours before, so my stomach wasn't feeling well at all when I over ordered here! I got excited on their 5 dollar grubs and Tom Yum soup. It's like a hole in the wall kind of place. Service was great and I like the down to earth vibes here. My eyes are bigger than my stomach, as usual. Got my yummy Thai craving on!

You're gonna need it, this is authentic Thai, they don't scrimp on the spice. This used to be a very regular lunchtime haunt for me because it wasn't very busy and @ $7.90 for my favourite dish (which is a generous serve), it was almost impossible to avoid at least once a week. However it seems that word has gotten around because it can be very busy at lunch times. I usually opt for pork pad krapao cos it's a great serve but have tried other dishes too. The pork two ways (belly and bbq) is a bigger dish but is also outside their $8 lunch sweetspot! The only real gripe I have with the place is that the seating outside attracts smokers. Most people hate smokers whilst they are eating, and it's probably illegal but you know what inconsiderate ign'ant peeps are like, they just don't care.

From the outside it looked very clean and inviting with walls decorated with vibrant Thai street art. There were many patrons inside eating which is also a good sign that the food must be good. I decided to give it a try and I'm so pleased I did! The place has a Bain-Marie setup on entry for takeaway. You can order from here to dine in also but the price will differ. It is cheaper to takeaway. The menu is very extensive listing more than 100 Thai regional specialties. The menu has several different styles of noodle soups 'Boat Noodle Soup' and 'Tom Yum Sukhothai Noodle Soup' ranging from the spicy-sour tom yum soup to tom luad moo (soup made with a clear broth as well as pork and vegetables). Under the heading 'Hot Pot Set' you can order the Thai Southeast street food 'Chim Chum', a spicy sour broth with different meats, seafood and fresh herbs such as galangal, sweet basil, lemongrass and kaffir lime leaves all cooked together and served in a small clay pot. There are refreshing papaya and vermicelli noodle salads, stir-fries, fried fish, hotpots and for the ultimate sweet ending, sweet doughnuts served with delicious Pandan sauce (Pa-Tong-Go) or deep-fried banana. I chose two of my all time favourites- Chicken Pad Thai and a Chicken Cashew Nut stir fry. The portion size was huge and worth every cent! The taste was simply amazing and better than what I have received at my other favourite, more expensive Thai restaurants in Sydney. Wow I now have found a new favourite Thai restaurant.
