I had a check engine light on with codes for emissions leak. It took him 5 try to fix a simple leak with a smoke test thru the hoses. I needed a smog for my registration thats the only reason I stayed. Chuck the owner was very irresponsible with my cars safety parking it half way in a red zone on the street...and there was evidence of Marijuana smoked in my car. read more

I will admit, Chuck might not be the best communicator and sometimes he might have your car for an extra day or two. but I have been going to him since 1999! my whole family has. there has been times when the car had to come back for a little extra TLC but he ALWAYS made it right, always. he will tow for you if your in a bind, he will can do what many mechanics can't. This place is a shithole. There's trash EVERYWHERE. Took my car there to get a new transmission. They told me it'd be done in a week. Then one week became two and two became three. The guy who runs the place finally stopped taking my calls. I went down there and found after a month of them having my car they hadn't even began to work on it. It was sitting in the sun with the windows down covered in dirt and the inside filled with trash. The leather was starting to crack from all the damage from the sun. This place is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Do not put yourself through the same headache! UPDATE!! After seven weeks we finally got the car back with 200 more miles on the odometer than we took it in with, a stained soft top, a mission rear view mirror, and a giant crack on the front bumper of the car. Unless you have a lot of free time and able to miss work, I wouldn't go here. Communication with customers is horrible. Updates and general info about status of your car is close to impossible. I have been coming here since 2007. I have Friends who have been coming here even longer. Chuck has always been 20%-40% cheaper than everyone else. He doesn't charge BS diagnostic fees like other mechanics. He is the most honest man in the world. His place is always packed and the place is open 7 days a week. What does that tell you? He was able to fabricate a part for my DeLorean one time. He charged $120 parts and labor. Anywhere else would have been $450 or more (that is if they were even able to find/make the part). I tell all of my Friends and Family to go to him. I can't imagine anyone who would say negative things about Star Hi Tech Auto or Chuck. My credit card was fraudulently used at this establishment and when I inquired about it, they were very rude. They refused to even take the time to hear me out let alone research or offer an apology, saying that "we charge over 6k in transactions per day and don't have time to worry about who's card it is" REALLY??? Do not recommend. They keep your car longer than they need to with little to no way of getting in contact . They don't update you, nor answer the phone. Went to get my Subaru BRZ checked out because I heard knocking in the suspension. They "fixed" it, said I was missing some screws or bolts ..and within 2 days I heard the same problem again. Took it to another place and they had it done in about 4 hours. Turns out some bolts were really loose and that's it. It was a waste of time and they had my car for 3 days . I drove my BMW 745 to get my smoke check issue fixed and it took me 30 days and a call to the Pomona PD to get it back. And it was not drivable, because there was a transmission issue and the car would not shift. So i would probably " need a new one installed" . Do not trust Chuck he is a jerk. He did the same to my friend after. Charging for unneeded repairs or braking things so to get them fixed after. He still wanted me to pay him $400 to get my car. Most dishonest mechanic I have ever met. I had to pay around $6,000 to get my car fixed after Chuck worked on it. Shame on you Chuck. I am truthfully warning you potential customers. I have been coming here for the past 2 years and I have always received fast affordable service. Chuck has installed a new radiator, repaired the engine frame and fixed a cracked air duct. All of these repairs took less then 2 days to complete. The last time I went in for the engine frame repair and air duct repair, Chuck only charged me $90 for labor although it took a day and a half to repair. The total for the special parts, installation and labor didnt even cost more then $350. If you want a great deal and fast work come here! read more

I recently took my 2004 Jeep in for a tune up. The mechanic installed new plugs but while I was within 10 feet he never turned the motor over to do a compression test but claimed my number one and perhaps number two cylinders were losing pressure. The manager told me I need a valve job. I drove the car for a couple of weeks until the check engine light came on, while having it miss when at idle. I took it to PEP Boys and the mechanic brought me two spark plugs. The plug from cylinder number one had no gap but metal to metal. The plug from Cylinder number two was set so wide a quarter would easily pass through. I am convinced the manager was lying in order to perhaps have me agree to a costly valve job. He simply jerry rigged things to support his claim. By the way, the jeep has only 57,000 miles and it is highly unlikely it needs a valve job. PEP Boys agrees with me. It now works perfectly. We took our son used 2004 honda civic for running hot . he place a new radiator 3 days later the car broke Down . we took it back and he took 3 days more never call to advise on anything. I took my car here because the check engine light was on. Chuck inspected it gave me his diagnosis and $700.00 bill. After one day the light came on again so I took it back and after two days of me initiating the calls to find out when my car was going to be ready he said I could pick it up. This story unfortunately repeated itself over the course of several weeks with time off of work and much aggravation. I finally gave up and took it to the dealer who has taken pictures of parts that were not replaced and one part was even glued together . This guy is as shady as they come. aaahhhh , where do i begin..... my boyfriend took his car there to get a minor fix. he got it back about 8 weeks later, then to find out all of a suddent he needed a engine. ahhh man .... chuck and his employees are crooks chuck said pay for warranty ....well guess what we did paid thousands of dollars to have this car back in this shop constantly never getting fixed properly.... the car comes back with more problems.... we had other mechanics look at the car they where willing to fix chucks problem way less and in a hr... this car was a beauty before star tech auto in pomona ca off arrow hwy, put their hands on it now its just a pile of metal sitting there.. this shop needs to be shut down.... and reported to bbb. do not take your vehicle to this place if you do you'll end up with a junk of metal . read more

not the worst place ever but if you dont know whats wrong with your car then dont take it there. Im pretty good with cars but because of work its worth it for me to have a mechanic fix my truck. I took my truck with him to fix the reason the check engine light was on then get it smogged. He did and returned it me for about 300. As I drove it away i realize the spindle bearing was busted. Wasnt like that when I gave it to him. He said it was the brakes...I knew it was the spindle bearing that was grinding. he fixed it for 275 and when I asked for the brakes so i could return them to autozone he said " that they were down to the metal so they wont return your money" turns out they still had 75% life. I drove the truck for a couple days and the rotor were turned so bad that when i pressed the brakes the steering wheel violently shakes. again...wasnt like that. took it back and he returned it to me with a bill and said it was the rear brakes now...I told him the rear brakes wont cause the steering wheel to shake.
